It's editable in the editor to make any bombard unit have lethal land and/or sea bombardment. :)

Edit: For all versions of Civ3, that is. I think it came about in 1.17f VC3.

No. It has been known, in multi player games for 1 player to gift a safe city to a nearly dead player so the person who is killing them gets WW for the rest of the game.

What are the rep. issuse with ongoing deals with destroyed civs? I THINK I lost my rep when a civ to whom I was giving iron was destroyed. What about if it was a gpt deal?

It also depends on the map size, and the number of civs left, and the number you know that have the tech. Assuming no-one knows the tech it is:
Tiny = 182g
Small = 228g
Standard = 274g
Large = 365g
Huge = 457g

These are according to TechCalc (see <here>)

Pretty sure they are, if they have a unit that they replace can upgrade too. I seem to recall that this is true, but it's been so long since I've played PTW I don't know for sure.

it's true the inability to upgrade to unique units in civ3 was fixed in ptw/c3c

Got a quick ???....Can't figure out how to use the map editor in civ3. Created a map, all customed out, and selected starting points for myself and others. How do I open it to play on that map? Suggestions would be appreciated! e-mail me at fnord1138@aol.com

Put (...or save from editor, respectively) the bic (or bix/biq) file into the "Scenario" folder.
Launch civ and pick sceanario. You should be able to pick your map/scenario from the list.
IIRC there's also a browsing feature to change paths in case the bic doesn't sit in the default scenario folder.

AFAIK in C3C MP setup screen, you *need* to put into the scenario folder (no browsing feature then).

I feel like I should know this one, but....

Have I heard somewhere that you can take a rep hit if a DoW is based on your attempted spy actions? EX: I have a deal going with England, it has 9 turns left on it. I try to plant a spy and fail. She declares war. Do I take the hit because it was my initial action that actually caused the war? As I said, I thought I had heard something to this effect before.

Please only respond if you are 100% positive. This is for an SG where our rep and the ability to trade gpt and luxes is one of the few things we have going in our favor.

It is impossible for someone to be 100% positive (:D) but I'm pretty sure that you don't get a rep hit because no one else would know that it was your action that actually caused the war, but you get an attitude hit with the English because you were spying on them.

Thanks for both your replies.

Thing is, the Pedia doesn't say so.
Of course, it doesn't literally say "UUs are not upgradable", but when I take a look at the page for the Mongol Keshik, it doesn't have the "Upgrades to Cavalry" link.

Do you guys think the Pedia is wrong on this?
I rather not rely on a mass horseman to Keshik upgrade, only to find out that only half an age later, I have to build an entire Cavalry army from scratch!

I believe there are more (common) units in the pedia that don't say what they upgrade to . I might be wrong though, but especially later additions (outside vanilla civ3) aren't exactly great pieces of art.

This is th form I use for the info you are looking for. It has never let me down yet.

The Keshik upgrades to Cav in PTW.

You may not like the u/g, but all land UU's upgrade, even the H'wacha.

The Man'O War doesn't, but no offensive navy vessel does.

I'm not sure if the F15 upgrades - I never get to precision weapons.
