I'm new to the game and seem to have a problem with always running out of gold. It makes negotiations difficult among other things. What do I need to start doing differently? I was going to disband weak warriors, build more mines, and changes to governor setting. Am I on the right track?

If you sell maps, communications or tech to raise cash, make sure to do it during your turn, not when the AI comes to you with a deal. If you sell it when they ask during their turn, they'll sell it to every other civ and they'll get the cash for your hard work researching/exploring.

I've got a question. When Atremisis Temple becomes obsolete (with Education) will I loose all the temples which were granted by this Wonder? Or they will remain and I'll just have to pay for maintenance?

I've only built Artemis' Temple in the Rise of Rome conquest, where it doesn't become obsolete. I've never built it in a regular game.
But I do know that you lose the barracks, granaries or hydro plants associated with Sun Tzu's, the Pyramids or Hoover's if you lose those wonders.
So my educated guess is: yes, you will lose the temples if Artemis becomes obsolete.

I think the same. But it looks illogical, 'cause Artemisis is 100 shields more expensive then Pyramids, while cost of the temple is the same as the cost of the granary. If the temples really disapear - it makes no sense to build the Artemisis, except maybe culture games or if there are tons of scientifics leaders

I am quite sure the temples disappear when you lose the ToA, or it becomes obsolete. I do not agree with the opinion expresed by Sphynx, that it is not worth building. I think it is one of the most powerfull wonders in the game. Possibly the bigest effect it has is that captured cities start producing culture straight away. It is great to have your cultural borders expand while you are at war, and it can help with culture flips as well.

I couldn't find an answer.
Does anyone know if there is a way to turn off city names and sizes on the map?

Hit CTRL-SHIFT-N, this gets you "clean map preferences"
Make sure to un-check everything.
hit CTRL-SHIFT-M, this gets you the "clean map" view.
If i'm not mistaken, you should see the map as per normal, only without city captions...hope this helps.

Barricades are in C3C. The Barricades is build as an add-on to a fortification.
The Barricade must be inside your cultural border to have your movement not affected.

Well, that makes them a bit more of a use: If you line your border with barricades enemy is stopped on entering them for 1 turn, and also on its way back. So even if the border barricades are empty they act as a stopping tile. So you can bombard (which causes them to turn back ...) Cool. However one should remember never to rely only on passive defences (avoid the Maginot syndrome...)

There is no way to tell if an air unit has moved in the current turn or not. Firaxis really should correct this, I think.
Thank you for the answer. What I do is to click all the air units (after the right click popup menu comes up) which leaves the unmoved units active. But this can be slow and boring.

The temples do, indeed disappear - I've had it happen to me. What you mustn't do is rely on Atermis in conjunction with the Oracle to keep your citizens in line... come Theo and Edu, both effects go, all your free temples go, and you've suddenly loads of unhappy citizens on your hands. Make sure you have backup in place (Markets+Luxs, Colloseums, Cathedrals).

Exactly right, it's also very useful for peaceful expansion, when you settle next to a resource or luxery that is within enemy borders, your borders should envelop it very soon in most cases. Also, combined with the Pyramids, every new city has a granary and a temple . . . wow.

What I do not like about ToA is the suspicion that you can actually lose culture by it. Yes, the phantom temples produce culture, but then they disappear and you have to build another that doesn't get its age bonus for quite some time. I haven't been able to test this in any way because the AIs almost always get to ToA first.

I have downloaded several utilities for Civilization III. I have yet to get them to work. I have Civilization III Gold Edition. Any help would be nice. I just want money. Again thanks.

Welcome to the forum!

I haven't used many of the utilities, but reading/posting in the utilities thread would probably get the best result.

Money should be easy enough to acquire. What level are you playing? What do you want to buy?
