Which, unfortunately, had very little impact in collapse of the Soviet Union. The collapse of the USSR was almost exclusively a domestic affair deriving from nationalist disagreement, economic malaise, social discontent, and a lack of faith in the Soviet government. Now that we have access to most of the Soviet Archives we have a far better idea of what contributed to the collapse of the USSR and Star Wars, let alone any special 'Reagan edge' had a pretty minimal impact. The things Reagan did that had a meaningful impact in ending the Cold War and the collapse of the Soviet Union were things any American president would have done. (If anything, Reagan's rejection of détente could have gone quite badly had the Soviet leadership not consisted of geriatric bureaucrats running on autopilot or pro-West reformers.)
