Quick Modding Questions Thread

Ok back to the sound question... can anyone think of any reasons at all! Why a unit sound would not work, I have managed to get custom music in without any problems, I have even tried using BTS sound files and existing sound code e.g. (arabiaselect and order) but I still hear no custom sounds for my units??

Can anyone think of any reason at all? File structure? folder structure? any reason why unit sounds in a mod might not want to work, references in other parts of the Civinfo.xml file?

Anything at all....

Like I said I got custom music without any problems.. it is just these select and order files..

I guess you changed the CivilizationSelectionSound and CivilizationActionSound entries in there?

Where do I need to look to find a way to increase the number of turns in a game? I am sure I found it once upon a time...but now it is hiding somewhere and I cannot remember where!!

mmhh...do you not get any sound, or just the normal sound?
In case of the former, you should try to make it louder.

I had it set to 200... I don't get any sound for unit speech. I wondered if it might be a volume thing, but I had it set to max with everything else off and still nothing, even with links to the bts sound files...
 
Oh...then it might be that someting in the sound defines is totally borked. Had that myself too, but never figured out what caused it.
Since that time I just rename my sound files accordingly and place them in the right folders, so that these are loaded instead of the default files.

yeah I tried that too... I set one faction to Arabia and moved those sound files, basically set it up exactly the same as the vanilla code has it... still nothing.. I am wondering if the unit sounds (Order and Select) were broken in the fury road code somehow...I think stuff like gun sounds was still working, but I need to go and check that..it may be that something has messed up the unit sounds, but all other types of sound work so...I don't know what it could be..
 
mmhh...could be the sound files themselves. Some types don't work :dunno:.
Try to replace some changed sounds with normal BtS sounds. If you then hear something, then it's a problem with the mp3s.

yeah had that thought, tried it with the arabia sound files but still nothing...

I would think that it is something in the sound .xml file, but I am pretty certain it shares it with other sounds that are still working, so it can't be that, I get no errors either, so the .xmls should be ok... It is one of these problems where I just stare but see nothing..
 
Ive been putting some new units, techs, and buildings into my mod and now whenever I build one of my new units ill get anywhere from 3-5 being produced at once. Any idea whats going on?
 
It may be. Im modding a mod i got from somewhere else to add this stuff in. But i have not personally changed the dll or any python coding.

As for the art, I am using some are from the next war mod. Just copying and pasting the xml code into mine.
 
...okay, that's definitely too big for a download.

mmhh...not sure, but Karadoc might maybe have included the multiple production mod (-> if hammer overflow too high, then multiple units per round). You should maybe check the included mod components (or ask Karadoc).
