Quick Questions and Answers

That simply could be Venice's weakness, the lack of faith purchases from puppet cities. Not being able to purchase faith buildings in non capital cities can deprive Venice from much more possible fpt.

I've noticed ever since Vanilla that Puppets would sometimes build buildings that require Resources (discovered this when I noticed some Uranium are missing, sneaky puppets!).

I don’t think this correct. Please post a screen shot if you see it happening. Strategic resources can go missing if you conquer a city with factor or nuclear plant.

How does faith pressure works?

If my religion has 5 people believing in a city with 18 pressure, and in the same city have 8 people believing in another religion with 12 pressure, one day they will believe more in my religion if nothing changes?

I've noticed ever since Vanilla that Puppets would sometimes build buildings that require Resources (discovered this when I noticed some Uranium are missing, sneaky puppets!). What I do now is put units or buildings that would use up the Strategic Resources on Queue to stop Puppets from using them but does anybody know a better solution? They're Puppets, you have no direct control over their infrastructure projects so they should also have no way to spirit away your Resources if you don't allow them.

Also, one game when I was playing Venice, I noticed a formerly Islamic Puppet have a Mosque. I already converted it to Catholicism several turns earlier and can't remember if it was there from the start. I'm not keeping tab on my Faith stockpile either. Can Puppets use your Faith to buy buildings if they happen to have a religion that would allow them to? If they can that would be frustrating if you're saving Faith to buy something else later.

As Venice, you can purchase with Faith in your puppets. Puppets will never purchase buildings with either Faith or Gold automatically, unless you have set the option on the Religious menu for auto-purchases with Faith to be a building.

That's right isn't it ? With serenisima ua, dandolo can purchase with faith, too. Thanks for the clarification. .. ^^

ty sendos for advice. i am still struggling but what i have done is get the IGE mod. hopefully this will mean i can alter circumstances that make me not enjoy chieftain so i dont just abandon games over it. then i might actually learn something, and get better at!
i have a new question. in my current game as poland on a huge earth map i have settled overseas all of south america (i admit i helped myself when experimenting with IGE to settle it - but greece had north america all to itself the whole game until i got 3 settlers out there and they would have run away before long - europe and asia and africa are pretty crowded).
the question is this; i own all the territory except buenos aires which has its own small area. there is no unsettled land, so how come i keep having to rescue my workers around buenos aires from barb musketmen units which keep miraculously appearing on the CS land and hop over the border? i have battleship sentries so they arent coming across the sea and no encampments near i can find.

What happens with an already built national wonder if you if you found or conquer a city without the prerequisite building (ie library or monument)? Do you keep the benefits or are they suspended until you have put the prerequisite buildings into the cities lacking them?

Maybe you are more disciplined than me, but I would end up using the IGE as a crutch, and not really get any better. These forums are very friendly, and posting screen shots and/or saves is a great way to progress through difficulty levels.

One the NW is built, it is yours. New cities (through whatever means) don’t have retroactive effects.

One hiccup I keep forgetting about it that razing cities interrupts construction of NW (until the city is gone). Also, conquering cities can interrupt building elsewhere. For example, you are using your last coal to build a factory, but capture a city (that already has a factory) in the meantime.

I keep doing this -- building the National College in my capital, and sending out a settler to found my 3rd city. If I found it before the NC is finished, the half-built NC disappears from my list until I get the library built. I've finally disciplined myself to watch the turn counter, and put the settler to sleep on the right spot (with an escort!) until the NC is done.

i have made the random barb spawning near buenos aires into a nice plus. i have stationed 2 of my missionaries there and since i have the ability to convert them as one of my religious choices i now have sometimes a few extra riflemen units which i can promote and send off to garrison whichever city i just took. all i need to do is keep the CS an ally and we are all good with barb spawns whatever causes it. they convert before they have a chance to pillage even last time! wish i knew what is causing them to spawn there tho.

I am attempting to create a Civ through ModBuddy, and I have followed most of the steps and I attempted to test run, and the civilization does not show up to be selected to play. I went to the database and these are the errors I am receiving, I am not sure what they mean.

If you capture an AI holy city and you have not found a religion of your own, will you gain all the AI's religious bonuses, or will you be denied of the founder's belief etc?

As far as I can tell, you don’t get founder benefits. You can build the Grand Temple, so that is some consolation, and you can end up with good faith generation. I don’t think you will get CS conversion quests, and I don’t think you can enhance the religion if has not already been enhanced. I am also pretty sure you cannot faith purchase Great Prophets. Browd will let us know if I got these other details correct!

You know how when you submit a TSG savegame it tells you how many hours you spent playing?

How do you see that info from inside civ5?

The game will tell you at the end how many hours you spent playing after you finished it all and your score is calculated... I don't know if you could see that info from civ5..
