Quick Questions and Answers

Is there any way for the AI to go back to being Neutral, or even friendly with me? Since I "warmongered" and destroyed a civ they've been either Hostile or Guarded. If there is no change to this then I'm sorry to say this part of the game is broken. I've been trading and doing all those things but they still don't budge.

The diplomacy in Civ5 is considered to be one of the weakest point of the game. I'd suggest trying a Domination Victory at this point.

Maybe if I capture a few cities, and the AI begs for peace, they won't be so angry towards me?

Ah okay. Seems like I'm learning more each game I should play. Next time maybe I shouldn't take over their last city -_-.

I find that the only way to keep them friendly long-term is don't try to win.

I fortified my scout where it could be attacked by a galley. It gained experience until it hit 30. Than, it stopped gaining exp at 30. Why is this?

There is a cap of experience there. It is impossible to gain more than 30 xp from barbarian combat. It's just a game rule.

It makes some sense too. I mean, how much experience can you get from guys who just attack and get killed.

Thanks. I was hoping to get a super scout, that could roam the map without fear of being killed.

I notice that after turns and turns of hate, the AI suddenly goes to "Friendly" but when I hover over it there is a list of red text and why they hate me. Now, either this is some form of glitch, but could be a sign that it's coded somewhere that you can bring the AI out of hatred after all? Note they flipped back to hating me again a few turns later. Just a thought.

Hey everyone, played this game for years since first played on PS1 still suck at it but enjoy playing, anyway i got a question, How do you get rid of a city that you have taken by a revolt? I have kept getting this and while sometimes its good sometimes its just a pain.

First off, welcome to CFC! [party]

And your question:
If you captured the city, it should be possible to raze the city in the city screen. If you built it though, I don't know how you could get rid of the city besides gifting it to the AI.

Not captured, they revolt and join my civilisation, first i know about it is when im asked what to build there, am sure that in earlier versions a worker?? could destroy a city you owned. Has happened a few times a AI builds a city near me and it revolts because of my culture but I dont want it
And thanks for the welcome :)

Do research agreements sway the AI's view on you? I saw two AIs war with each other, then were able to do RAs within a few turns, and a few turns after that, they had a DoF!!

This should answer some and create more questions about AI behavior:

My question: When I purchase tiles in the city manager screen I notice the price changes, how, why?

And another: Are citizens eating one or two food per turn?

And another: I remember reading on some thread someone mentioning Research Agreement blocking or some such. Does this exist? How is it done? By buying RAs with all the AIs?

Tile purchases increase by 5 each time you buy a tile.
I'm not sure how starting price is determined.

Citizens eat two food per turn.
Some techs/policies change the amount some citizens require.
So, as you play it won't always average out to two.

If you research any tech to 25%+3 then it is excluded from "free" tech choice at completion of RA.
In use you can isolate the expensive tech you want by researching all remaining techs to their cutoff point.
This requires careful timing of the 30 turn RA.

Not that you ever would, but hypothetically what would happen if all tech were researched above 25% and the time came for your free tech? Would you just not get any? Would it take from the blocked ones?
