Quick Questions and Answers

When I adopt a policy and it says something like "Each city you found will have bonus x," does this mean that I have to have the policy in place first, or does it not matter and I can build the city first and once I adopt the policy, it applies to all?

As Iroquois using the forest to link as road, if I have a small single cell portion of missing forest, do I just build one section of road to connect two cities? Seems odd.

How will things shake down when a CS asks for a road to be be connected to them?

Thank you!

Nothing based on distance. Your scout does cost per turn maintenance, but it is a fixed amount based on your era.

Anyone?

Yes to your first question.

Should still work with a CS quest, but you'd still need to build road over forests in any tile but your own. I forgot if CS road quests are still bugged and you'd still need to make roads in your own terrain as Iroquis though.

I have some new-to-v or 5-questions

Is there any way to make the game run faster? It's laggy on turn 2 does it get worse farther in or stay same? Also ways to reduce pop ups and voices and stuff

How do I change stuff like treasury allocation to science I can't find a spot to manage it

My city has 2 population in it now and I zoom in and it only shows 1 guy out there working/ 1 tile being worked on. Is the other one in the city or something?

Can a grid or outline of the tiles be displayed in game?

CivIV had a slider system to allocate among culture, gold and science. This is not the way Civ V was designed. Use your money to buy science buildings and buildings which increase growth. Produce Research when you have achieved the tech that allows this.

Hi,

Just started playing G&K scenario "Into the renaissance" for the first time. Is there a way to see a running victory points total for civs involved? This could be very useful in order to choosing/adjusting strategies mid-game...

Thanks in advance.

P.S. I think I found the answer - must be the "special scenario" line in the Score breakdown... so it seems that victory points tally is only part of the score, and the latter will be used to determine the winner?

Second question first, you can click the "g" key to toggle the hex grid on and off.

On the tile working, when you say you "zoom in", are you zooming in on the main map and observing a worker creating a tile improvement, or are you in the city view screen? I suspect you are observing an automated worker improving a tile, but that tells you nothing about what tiles your two citizens are working (the worker is not part of your population -- ignore the unreality/illogic of that statement and go with it).

To see what tiles your city's citizens are actually "working" you need to go into city view (click on the city banner in the main map). At the top right, click Citizen Management and it will show you what tiles are being worked (green icons in the dark circles). You can manually assign citizens to work specific tiles (turns into a green padlock) or manage generaly by selecting your desired focus (default, food, porduction, etc.).

No........ I have played an earlier civ game I know the difference between workers outside and population in the city. Only one hexagon appears to be cultivated aside from the city itself

1. civ 5 gets pretty laggy for me as well. Try updating graphics drivers. Also smaller maps, and generally lower graphics settings should help. Last patch was meant to help but I'm not so sure myself.

2. Even though someone kind of addressed this I thought I'd expand a little. Civ5 doesn't have sliders like previous titles. Instead your science is primarily created via your population. Each citizen is worth a base of +1 :c5science: so in effect your changing food into science as you need to grow your population to gain more :c5science: There are of course buildings, social policies, diplomatic options (research agreements), specialists (a function of pop and buildings), great people and civ unique abilities that can increase you science output. Its almost the same for gold, except a citizen doesn't have a base :c5gold: value like it does :c5science:

3. When your in the city view each population should be working a discrete tile or specialist slot (including "unemployed" citizens). So if you have 2 citizens you should see them both working tiles etc. Your city tile doesn't count as a citizen.

Just to confirm. When playing G&K scenario "Into the renaissance" (or any other scenario), how is the winner determined? Is it by the total of victory points only, or the overall score total of which victory points is part of?

Question about the religious belief "Interent Preachers" (Edit: I meant interfaith dialouge) It says it gives science when spread to a city of a different religion, but n my experience civ 5 has been vaguely or poorly worded in the past, so I wanted some answers. Do any of there count as a different relgion?:

A non religious city (I assume no)
My own pantheon (probably not, but maybe)
A foreign pantheon (This is the one that really has me wondering)

That's not itinerant preaches (which extends a city's religious pressure to 13 tiles, from the normal 10 tiles). You are referring to Interfaith Dialogue ("gives Science when a Missionary or Prophet spreads this religion to cities of other religions"). To answer your specific questions:

No.

No.

No.

Interfaith Dialogue only pays off when the other city already has another religion, and for all purposes in the game, a pantheon is not a religion.

Ah yes thank you, I listed the wrong trait. And I was fairly certain this is the way it would work...but with this game you just never know for sure :p
