Quick Questions and Answers

Currently I want to hunt down all achievements. At this time it seems that achievements gets disabled if I start the game with a mod.

I would love to use info addict and Civ V Unofficial Patch (G&K), but I was not able to figure out how I can keep achievements enabled.

Get a list of all the achievements and of the ones you have done, then keep your own list without bothering with use-of-mod restrictions. Personally, being able to use mods is MUCH more important than the game achievements.

Of course, mods also disable the hall of fame. I keep a manual log of that too.

Is there a way to play any of the official DLC scenarios as multiplayer maps? Some, particularly the Fall of Rome, seem well set up for coop and others like Empire of the Smoky Skies would be epic multiplayer. As far as I can tell though, the whole of multiplayer is still a mostly featureless wasteland for Civ 5, without even mod support. Anyone have suggestions?

I think the only way to do that may be to play hotseat, or to use the Giant Multiplayer Robot app.

Queston: is there a way to find out when my dof will end (notification log didn't help me much there)? I really want to kill my Swedish "friend" right now but we still have dof..... =\
I think i got the backstabber diplo - even long after the DoF expired. I think in the diplomacy advanced screen you can select trades - the middle screeen and that will show the running trades including DoF.

My strategy is I develop my core cities lets say 5 or 6 through the ENTIRE game. It's industrial period and thats all I have plus a ton of puppet cities. During the game should I create NEW cities via a Settler? I'm playing King level. thanks

If you are talking of the Deals screen, it doesn't show DOF. I checked after the previous post.

Near as I can tell, the base game does not display when diplo deals (DOF, Denunciations, "Just Passing Through", etc.) were made or when they expire. Nearly all have a 50-turn duration, so you just need to manually note the turn you made the deal.

I suppose a UI-enhancement mod like InfoAddict might show it, but I don't regualrly use mods and haven't checked.

If you have the Collective Rule (Liberty Social Policy) consider building a settler (reduce food surplus to 0 and increase production to max while building), otherwise the lack of growth during settler-building means that just buying a settler is often a better idea.

Quick question: if you start a game in an era later than Ancient, does the pace of the game change to compensate? I.e. will a standard-pace game starting in the Industrial era still take (roughly) 300 turns to complete, or will it only take 150?

I think it still goes at the same pace.

Can someone else try to answer me?..I will explain it further, I guess I wasn't to clear.
You know you start the game say in Ancient Era and you get your so called "Core" cities..I don't know you might have 4 or 5 or 6 or maybe a couple more..Then you STOP building Settlers. And you stop for a significant time..You know the economy starts to hit you etc etc..Then you start Conquering cities and making Puppets. Now my question is...After you create alot of Puppet cities...DO YOU EVER GO BACK TO BUILDING SETTLERS FROM SCRATCH??? You know creating a city from scratch?

The issue with late game cities is they can't grow quickly enough to make a meaningful contribution before the game ends. About the only time I will settle a new city late in the game is (1) to access some late-game strategic resource (aluminum, uranium) that is nowhere to be found in my empire or CS network or (2) much more infrequently, to serve as a base of operations for a military campaign on another continent (usually a puppet will do, or an annexed former puppet, if I want to buy units there). I find I only found a late-game city about every 10-15 games or so.

I couldn't answer you as I didn't know what the question was.

I will create late game settlers for the same reason as Browd- to get necessary resources. I'll also do it to block access to key areas by the AI. However, I tend to go wide rather than high so my game play is not the most favoured here.

Should probably also be noted that several elements (aqueducts, civil service, fertilizer, hospitals, maritime CS, gold to rush-buy buildings, switching to food-focus) result in later cities catching up fairly quickly.

Most often if I settle a very late city it is after getting caravels and exploring a super-awesome spot on a smaller island. Not so much because it is needed, but for fun.

Becomes your religion the mayor religion when 50% of the people follow it?
I mean is the three believers enough in a city of six?

50% and not tied. So yes, 3 of 6 will do it unless the other 3 are all something else, in which case the city will not have a religion.

It really depends on map type, size, etc. But typically my expansion goes in several waves. First is the initial push, up to the half dozen or so you describe. Those I'll develop to the point I have all or most of the national wonders I want built. Then I'll make a last push to colonize land I want, grabbing any new resources nearby I might not have (coal mainly, at that point) before turning warmonger. From then on, most of the world is already settled, but if there's a prime spot open somewhere or if an AI city is particularly poorly situated that it needs to be burned, then there's nothing wrong with late game settlers. Rush buying workshop, factory, aqueduct, hospital, and medical lab brings it up to being a valuable producer FAST.

hi everyone. So i tried to make my own map with the world builder so i put all my resources and whatnot in it and then went to the game to play. When i tried to build a mine over my resources it would give me less resources instead of more (eg. when i started the game i had 0 aluminum, when i built a mine over my aluminum i had -15 aluminum.) Does anyone have a solution???
