Having trouble with the Morocco achievement:

Here's Looking at You, Kid
As Morocco, airlift a civilian unit from Casablanca to Portugal's original capital.

Have conquered Lisbon, and airlifted a Worker from Casablanca to Lisbon, but haven't unlocked the achievement. Other achievements have worked during play. Am I missing something?

Thanks for any help!

Apologies I have fixed this! I was stupidly trying to airlift the unit out of a surrounding square to Casablanca rather than the city itself!

Unbelievable. The first night i played the game in tutorial mode non-stop 6-7 hours. The next day, it crashed 2 times and now, once in every 5 mins it crashes. I am so sad. I loved the game but can not play. :(

Interestingly, it appears it is still coded as Theater in the xml. As you can see in the following, the happiness amounts for Theater (Zoo) and Stadium are their BNW +2 happiness, but Theater is still ... Theater.

I saw that too and was puzzled by it, so Im guessing then I will need to make any changes to "theatre" rather than zoo? Also, I think you get zoo before printing press, which is where theatre is I believe. Hmmm...LOL wonder why they did it this way? OH well, thanks though!! Appreciate it!

Zoo comes at Printing Press, just like Theaters did.

What zoos have to do with printing presses is beyond me, but ....

Hello Everyone!

I'm a Civ V Fanatic and it's my first time to post here. I am looking forward to learn more about this group and share with you as well what I've experienced in playing Civ.

In the long run, I am also planning to create infographic guides to Civiization V (will postin my blog. I'd like to ask for your suggestions where could I get resources regarding the Civilization images, artworks and cliparts used in the game?

Thanks and looking forward from you guys.

Joseph

Is it possible to build infinite number of cities with maximum population in theory, if you have all the possible combinations of happiness inducing and unhappiness reducing wonders/building/beliefs/tenets/policies/resources without going below 0 happiness? Not that I'm going, but in my latest game I conquered a giant continent with free space for like 9-10 fully packed cities, wanted to build a huge empire, but got stuck with 4 grand cities full of unhappy people.

Also, what would happen, if you run out of civilization specific city names? I don't know how much are there, but what if you have built 50-th city and there are no more names left? Would you be prohibited to build more or future cities will borrow names from other civs?

No infinities in any existing computer game, I'm afraid! And no, I don't think you can keep expanding forever with your happiness remaining positive, even in theory. There is no source of happiness that isn't capped somehow or limited too much to be useful in this case. The only exception would be India - with all the SP bonuses, their capital would produce more happiness than it consumed as it grew larger, I think, but since the capital's size is limited by some resources as well it's not a valid solution either.

As far as I know you start borrowing names from other civs. Older Civilization games instead gave the new cities names like "New London, New Canterbury" etc with funny caveats like "New York" being an English city name and "New Orleans" a French one.

Ahh, that means I will spend much more time on city management than before. Maybe it is even a good change. Thank you.

Is it just me, or does the royal liberay (assyria) doesnt give you a promotion, but a lot of xp, so you're close to promoting? Noticed that in my last game

I'm the last player in possession of my original capital... yet no domination victory. What gives? Do I have to be the person in possession of all the capitals as well? Greece still has Persia's original capital.

In BNW, you now have to possess each of the original capitals. Intended to make domination wins a bit more difficult.

It's changed in BNW. You now have to hold every civilization's capital

Can capitals be traded for? I know a civ can't hand out its own capital, but in my current game I'm going for a domination victory and Attila has the remaining three capitals. I was wondering if I could strike him down by assaulting his own capital and win by taking the two remaining capitals as a part of the settlement.

Its a good question cause i had a similar situation, but with a twist. As assyria, i had conquered all capitals, except indonesia who also had the egyptian capital. I take jakarta, and i think "if he gives me thebes for peace, i win". Unfortunatly he made thebes his new capital :p

To answer my own question - yes, apparently others' capitals can be acquired as a part of peace settlement since I got both Palenque and Beijing from Attila after busting his own Court. Warmongering may have taken some hit in BNW but daayymn that must've been my fastest conquest in terms of capitals per turn.

Hi! Question on triggering victories:

Playing Gods and Kings. Tried to complete the scientific victory first and can't trigger the option to add my spaceship components to the spaceship. It's not even there and just faded out - it's not even an option. I built the spaceship factory in my capital. Tried building the components in other cities and moving them in - didn't work. Tried building the components in the capital - didn't work. Tried building the components in a particular order - didn't work.

So I moved on to the diplomatic victory. Built the United Nations and have since gone through about 20 turns. No vote. There was an initial vote when I first built it - got the required number of votes, but it said I would be eligible for the victory starting with the next vote. Other forums said I should see a turn countdown over the diplomacy icon - it's not there.

I don't know if it's a bug, or if there's something I should be doing? I've read other forums and nothing seems to work. Someone please help! Thanks!

Check to confirm that both science and diplo are enabled victory conditions. Just go to Victory Conditions, or pull down the Menu and see what the settings are for that game.

Also, if you already won the game (e.g., by domination), you can't win a second time. Check your Hall of Fame.

(Actually, more precisely, you can always win by domination after winning by culture, science or diplo, but not any other combination.)

I confirmed that all the victory conditions are enabled, and I can see the progress in my Victory Progress screen. I haven't won by domination yet - there's still one player on the map.

Domination victory only means you have to be the last player to possess their original capital, not that you must destroy everyone else totally. Domination victory is possible even if no civ gets destroyed.

Will switching ideology cause me to lose benefit of wonder tied to ideology? I took freedom and built statue of liberty, but I may have to switch due to lots of cultural pressure.
