Quick Questions and Answers

Could someone please explain about when a CS requests units? Is it a proper quest that can be completed for influence? Do you get extra influence for each unit compared to normal?

I'm still playing vanilla if that makes any difference.

Example:
Mongolia takes over a CS

I decide I want some of those juicy tiles on Mongolias newly acquired conquest, and drop a Citadel on Mongolia's land that belonged to that CS originally.

Now I Declare War, Take the city, and Liberate that CS

Which is the correct result after liberation...???

A) The CS gets back all tiles that were originally part of his city
B) The CS gets back tiles, but only takes away from my Citadel if it one of his original city tiles.(One space off the center city tile)
C)My Citadel remain unaffected, and I won't lose any tiles

It's B).....Correct?

That means the CS is at WAR with someone, and needs to strengthen his army. You can gain influence for every unit that you donate to the CS.

You must move your unit inside the CS territory, and then go to the sidebar that has Defend, Delete unit, etc. There is a option for gift unit which should be a highlighted option once you are in the CS territory.

If you are not already a friend/ally of the CS then it is usually smart to enter your donated unit within the proper movement allowance, so you don't get penalized for trespassing in his territory.

I think you get the same influence for every type of unit, and upgrades don't matter...But I am not positive. So a warrior would grant the same influence as a horseman.

You can't donate workers, missionaries, etc.....only military.

Should be C. Tiles are linked to a city, as you know, but there is no "memory" of what city that tile used to belong to. Your citadel linked the stolen tiles to one of your other cities, so you would retain them as long as you held that city: they wouldn't revert to their original city (the CS) just because you became its owner. It's even possible for a city to work a tile that doesn't belong to it, and lose that tile when your other, nearby city gets captured.
 
Somehow I am set to auto repeat any previous build, whatever it may be. Usually I always had choose production but this is no longer the case in the last few games I have been restarting today to get more favorable conditions. Not sure how it got the option to go into auto repeat, so I am unsure how to fix this.

Edit: Suddenly in this game the problem stopped, I am now more confused then ever.

I WAS RIGHT....The answer is B)

When I Liberated the CS received the tiles immediately surrounding his city...Nothing that good on those spaces, so not the end of the world.:undecide:

Hey guys, I founded my second city on the desert 4 tiles from my capital and I selected desert folklore as my pantheon and it shows that I'm getting faith from all the desert tiles buts its on in my fpt. Anyone know why?
 
Is there a place where I can track my Warmonger status, and what penalties are being imposed on me...? Or how I have recovered by Liberating, etc.

Civilopedia gives this information:


Threat Value
Warmonger Score
Description
None 0-19
Minor 20-49 They have some early concerns about your warmongering.
Major 50-99 They clearly see the potential threat posed by your warmongering.
Severe 100-199 They believe your warmongering has become an issue of global prominence.
Critical 200+ They fear your warmongering will soon sink the world into a new Dark Age!

These values are updated each turn. You can check them at any time by enabling logging (and AI logging) in config.ini and opening the MyDocuments/Civ 5/Logs folder.


I did not see the ability to "Enable Logging" on any of the game Menus....and maybe I am not be big enough computer geek to understand that statement....Can somebody help me out???


I know other Civilizations will not want to cooperate/trade with me, but how else does it harm me..??? Growth,....etc...???

Why do the civs hold grudges for centuries?

Why am I labeled "blood thirsty" when the civ asks for gold or resources and offer nothing in return and I refuse?

Why am I considered a "War Monger" if I am attacked and I chase them off my lands and subsequently take their cities? After all, they attacked me? They declared war.

Or, another civ asks me to join them in a war and when I do, and when I take cities, the civ that asked me to join then calls me a war monger the rest of the game.

To me, this all seems unfair and unrealistic. Is there a mod or some other way to balance this?

Well (just for clarity) the limitation applies to ALL other cities - City States, other Civ's cities and your own cities. Might you own another city too close to where you hoped to settle?
 
I was hoping someone would answer the part about influence increasing when you donate units after the CS makes the request. I think not.

This is one way to gift units to CS (or an AI). However, at least when the CS has requested units, you do not have to walk your units over to their territory. You can bring up the CS dialog box and drill down to gift a unit. The interface is a little fiddly, but at that point you are returned to regular map, but there will be yellow highlight hex around all your units. Click on one and you get a confirmation dialog about donating the unit. It takes several turns for the unit to show up (and for you to get influence).
 
I usually keep my Citadels, but if I delete it does the resource remain on the tile allowing you to improve once the Citadel is deleted...???
 
Yes, the resource remains and can be improved. Sending a worker to create the improvement (plantation, mine, whatever) will destroy the citadel.
 
I just won a CV on Immortal at t230. My tourism is almost 500 and my science is nearly 2000 beakers per turn. Are these numbers good enough to move up to Deity? Because I'm having the feeling that the AI just really messed things up. I'm allied to all the CS (even with Alex in my game), only the Zulu have chosen an ideology (which is pretty messed up because I wanted to see how cities flip) and Brazil is circling my lands with Swordsman..
 
Is there a reason my fighters won't intercept from an AAC after taking a city?

Definitely in range and not intercepting tri planes.

Thanks Beetle, I definitely am going to save a lot on maintenance doing it this way. One more note about gifting in this fashion is that you cannot give another unit until the previously gifted unit arrives. So, if you are close, and looking to increase your influence quickly, then moving into the territory is still the best way since influence will be degrading until you get the OK that your unit arrived.
 
Hi.
last time I won with Morocco in offline mode. This has not been recorded in my achievements. I thought it would when I went online but it doesn't. Not a big deal if I lose that one, but still, is there any chance that I can somehow reflect it in my achievements?
