Quick Questions and Answers

How do the specialists work in your cities? I opened up my city menu and noticed there were slots next to buildings (I think) where I could assign a specialist and it looked like I would get a bonus.

If I assign them what do I lose in return? I assume that I lose one of the people working my tiles?

Thanks for the help. I got my first diplomatic victory last night, took me until 1950...but oh well!

Thanks for the help, this thread is great!

New question: who pays maintenance for roads in neutral territory? Does it depend on who builds them?

That's correct - you loose the tiles they work - they also consume 2 food (this can be reduced to 1 with a civic) - but they use 2 food working a tile as well

I don't know the -exact- formula, but it's pretty close to a match of the % of HP left. So if you're at 50% HP, you get a 50% penalty. I'm not sure where I read it, but I know I read it...

In neutral territory, the person who built the road pays for. This includes after a city razing. If a Civ eventually gets boundaries on it, the new Civ pays for it.

Roads cost maintenance only within your borders IIRC.

I read in another thread that you pay maintenance for ALL roads you build. I also fits somewhat with what I've observed.
It does seem a bit strange, though, as workers from one civ can begin building a road and then you can finish it, which would mean that the other civ should rightfully pay a percentage upkeep on that particular strech of road. I guess it's the civ that finishes a road that holds maintenance.

It's probably something stupid simple I'm missing, but can someone explain unit supply (not maintenance...i see that still seems to be a bit of a mystery)? I.E. when my supply gets low, what do I need to do to increase the supply in order to support more troops?

According to the military overview you get a base supply from difficulty setting + 2 per city + ½ per population.

Is there any way to heal an air unit stationed in a city? When I click on my Stealth Bomber that I left at home to deal with any invaders, there is no fortify until healed option in the toolbar, unlike those based on a carrier.

Can I edit a save in world builder?

just use fortify.

How do I stop a city state razing a city?

I was weakening a city, when a city state stepped in and took it  They then proceeded to raze it to the ground

Hey I have a quick question, Can you air strike or nuke cities or tiles that you have previously explored but are currently covered by the fog of war? I had a carrier off of the coast of another civ and couldn't bomb cities that were in range but not currently seen. Can aircraft scout?

How can I delete a HOF item?

I believe it works the same as in Civ4... you go to the My Games/Civ5.../Replays folder and delete the replay entry (or move it somewhere else if you might want to restore it some day).

I have read all 22 pages of this and haven't seen the answer to these two questions about Great Generals yet:

1. How do I "attach" them to a unit/give them its GG bonus/etc... I can't seem to figure out what to do with the GG and the unit I want to give the bonus to. Does he just auto-help invisibly? Is it to all adjacent tiles, or just the one tile he's on? Is it even worth it, considering I could just trade him in for a GA?

2. Is the citadel even remotely worth it? Seems like a stupid ability that a good player would never need, but then again, at one point in time, on Civ4 I assumed HC was the worst leader ever, so I've learned never to trust my instincts about Civ-related things.
