Quick Questions and Answers

Is there any reason I shouldn't Terrascape everything?

Let's say you have a Flood Plain, base yield 2 food, 1 energy. You put a farm on it (+1 food). You build Ectogenesis (+1 food). You get some late-game tech that gives you +1 science on every farm. More tech that gives you +1 food and +1 energy on every farm. Then you launch a holo orbital, cheap to build and cheap to maintain (less than 1 energy per tile).

Now you've got 5 food, 1 science, 2 energy and 2 culture on that tile. Compare that to terrascape that gives you 2 food, 2 production and 2 culture, but takes away 1 energy for 1 of everything you have on that tile (until or unless you get to the very bottom of the Prosperity tree, forfeiting all the gains from other virtues). Farms are free and can be built from day 1.

I only build terrascapes on snow and some deserts / tundra.

Yeah. First off, terrascapes replace the yield of the tile, so it is less valuable on tiles with better base yields. Second, some of the other improvements may be better, depending on what you want and what bonuses to improvements you have (from techs or virtues). Third, you might want to focus some of your cities to maximize internal trade routes. Finally, as you probably know, there's a 6 energy per turn cost for the improvement, so you might just not be able to afford it.

I have a new question. In the game set up, what does the age of the planet effect? My guess is an older planet has more hills, mountains, canyons, etc. but I could be totally wrong. Can't seem to find any details in game manual pdf.

It's the reverse, the older is the planet the longer natural erosion leveled its surface.

So:
old = more flatness
young = more rockyness

I have negative xenomass
A nest in my territory was removed by another player.
I have not done alien science yet. and my used xenomass is 0
Will this be cleared up later or am I going to have to build up my xenomass from negative?

Update
The nest came back and I am back to 0 xenomass.
No more open borders for my alien killing nabours I guess

Is there any way to assign multiple actions to a worker on a tile? For example, build a mine and a road. This could be done in other iterations by holding down the shift key.

After instal last patch i got some problems with game. This happen not always but... sometime when i buy in new city Clinic or pharmalab they don't give me health bonus or discover affinity by technology and don't get point.
Anyone got this problem sometime??

There are several threads about local health vs global health. You can check them out in the strategy forum, but the gist of it is that if you have a 2 pop city, you can't get more than 2 health from buildings.

For techs not giving an affinity level: Each affinity level costs a certain number of points that you can see if you mouse over the tech. If you mouse over your affinity, it will tell you your progress (i.e. 0/33). If a tech only gives 25 affinity points and you need 33, you won't get a new affinity level for that tech. You would instead see 25/33 if you moused over your affinity.

Hope that helps.

ohh ty for info, now it's look correct. Before patch affinity from tech tree always give 1 point.
Don't see "+" or somthing but thx for help :)

Whenever I play on a Taigan map, no resource pods spawn. Is this a feature or a bug?

Does anybody have an idea if expansions and the like will be released for Beyond Earth in order to further improve it, or would they stop focusing resources on a game with mixed reviews and move on to other projects?

Searched & didn't see anything.

Other civs get mad if you attack too many aliens. Does passively fighting & killing aliens that are attacking you because you're too close to their nest add to these diplomacy hits?

I was trying to conduct a trade using the diplomatic trade menu. I had several titanium and only wanted to trade one. I was unable to change the number of titanium listed in the menu. What gives? Thanks.

How do you purchase units? Need an army real fast, attempted genocide, backfired, pls help

From the city screen select "Purchase" in the top left right next to "Change Production"

As to your other question, there is no longer Happiness, just Health.

Now a few questions of my own:
Can I change the names of my units?
Is there any way to tell how many turns until an outpost changes into a city?
Is there any demographics or a way to tell if someone has a weaker army?

Thank you
