I have once spam sold all my iron to 1 babylon, and he offer 10 GPT for 1 iron, 2 luxuries for 1 iron, and when he left with nothing, he offer DOW on scoreleader mongol for 1 iron.
Is tribute countdown working as intended? Currently, 10 turns after tributing, I have a -0 penalty for recieved tribute recently, but on the 11th turn I get a -900 penalty for tribute recently, which then countdowns back to zero. So basically you get to tribute every 20 turns in general, or every 10 turns if you manage to be there on exactly the 10th turn.
I've seen a popup telling me when someone bribed a nation to go to war with me. Does that always appear if someone was bribed? If she didn't have an army on your border (which she does) you can probably assume someone bribed her to DoW you.
Doesn't matter as difficulty only dictates how much bonuses the AI gets. Frankly, at warlord level I feel bad about exploiting the AI.But don't trade deals stop when you go to war? I gave her 6 iron in total. If I remember correctly how strategic resources work, she won't be able to heal any of her units that require iron now, unless she has found another source for iron since then.
I considered Babylon to be my only next door neighbour. I would have thought the distance and multiple cities between me and Dido were enough for both of us to not think about conquering each other yet.
But I'm not supposed to have maxed out my military cap this early, right? How would I afford 19 units? Is 1-2 units per each new city enough in the early game?
I'm playing on Warlord difficulty, by the way. So I'm still a beginner as you can probably also tell from my questions and assumptions![]()
1. Question! I'm playing Korea on Planet simulator with a forested northern small continent with great barrier reef and solomon's mine and 4 CS for myself. And ran away with tradition + goddess of wisdom + mastery belief. Right now only Kamehameha knows I exist. Should I try gunning for science victory or play the diplomacy game? Or give them FREEDOM? Also I'm not done settling my continent. I had to wait for colonist >_>
2. Also, with my conditions, can I get all policies? I went Trad/Aesth/Rationalism and I feel a really health culture rate if I just settle my continent. Freedom is currently being built up.
If you're at ideologies and you haven't found everyone else yet, I imagine you're pretty well positioned for either a cultural or a space victory.Question! In my game as Korea, in the mid-game I rocketed ahead of everyone culturally (and technologically, to a lesser extent), especially once I could spam great people with To the Glory of God. I won a cultural victory right as I reached the atomic era, but even though I was in the middle of the pack score-wise, I don't think anybody was going to be beating me in the space race.

Let's see. You had to choose among Piety, Statecraft and Aesthetics. Piety is the most science geared of the three, but seeing that you probably were scientifically backwards, I'd have picked Statecraft. The extra spies can grant free policies from your neighbors, steal great works, and you already had 4 CS for you own personal abuse (be sure to set embassies in all of them).Should I try gunning for science victory or play the diplomacy game? Or give them FREEDOM?
Sure, policies are quite easy to get if you focus on culture. Just don't get killed before that. Also, with my conditions, can I get all policies?
Korea has an amazing end game spamming great scientists, so if you managed to recover your science by mid-late game (using your spies and befriending many CS), you are in a good position for the science victory. It helps if you pass some WC resolutions to help you with it and to delay other victory types.I'm playing Korea
Swedish and Danish UA definitely affects gun units, not sure if they affect mounted melee units as well. What units are affected by Swedish and Danish UAs? Is it limited to literally "melee" units, or gunpowder and recons benefit from it too?
Same question about Mongolia and Helicopters.
I mostly figured that if he'd gotten to ideologies without all the other civs finding him, they're probably way behind him in culture and tech, so there wouldn't be too much ground to make up in tourism. But I usually play on standard-size continents, where everybody's caravels tend to meet by the late renaissance--I suppose it must be different on bigger maps.I can't see why you'd suggest cultural, not having discovered people means his tourism towards them would be 0 once he discovers them. Certainly not impossible by any means but I can't imagine it would be a go-to suggestion.

That is really interesting. I'm pretty sure it isn't what I'm noticing though. This is how I'm seeing the penalty decay, tested this twice on a map and I seriously doubt anyone else tributed the CS.Could be that someone else did it - tribute recently is global, not player-specific.

I demand tribute on turn 40, I get a -1,500 penalty. It declines by 150 a turn, eventually giving me a 0 penalty on turn 50. If I demand tribute at any point, it resets. However, if I don't demand tribute on turn 50, the counter goes to -900 on the next turn, and declines by 100 a turn until on turn 60 it hits 0. It remains at 0 until I tribute the CS again.
The result is you can tribute every 10 turns but you have to tribute on exactly the 10th turn (or the 9th, which is possible if your army is very scary). If you miss that you have to wait another 10 turns, which is a really big gap. I'm guessing this isn't on purpose?
Those numbers sounds much better to me. Getting tribute consistently every 10 turns is too strong anywaysNo, it should be:
10 turns cooldown, starting at 750 (decrements by 75) for 'very recent' bullying
20 turns cooldown, starting at 500 (decrements by 25) for 'recent' bullying.
So it should go down 100 a turn for 10 turns, then 25 a turn for 10 turns. Sounds like I'm missing a variable somewhere...

Yup, this time I was only playing King, not Deity, on a huge marathon map with oceans all around my isolated continent. With Korea I figured that I should just blast my way up the tech tree by abusing it's UA with tradition. Since I didn't need to field a large fighting force(just enough to remove the occasional barbs) I went and upped my science and culture buildings. With Goddess of Wisdom I didn't really have much difficulty in getting my Faith up. The only reason I would want to meet other civs is due to my corporation as my continent had extreme monopoly for furs... I had 100% of the furs after settling my small continent, rng pls. When I reached Rationalism my faith just exploded so... Yeah... With infinite wltkd and golden age I just sat there while Kamehameha was buying my furs and occasional iron. With a not-war oriented civ you can just literally burn through the game when you're isolated if you do it right...I mostly figured that if he'd gotten to ideologies without all the other civs finding him, they're probably way behind him in culture and tech, so there wouldn't be too much ground to make up in tourism.
