Quick Questions / Quick Answers

I recently downloaded the mod and while playing the overhaul mode city states were not actually giving gold and faith gifts despite the a prompt claiming they had. In addition bullying them for a worker does not cause a worker to spawn. Is there a quick fix for this? I have already tried reinstalling via the .exe

EDIT: Nevermind I am a clown, I didn't load the dependencies correctly.

@Jiggly , do I understand correctly that not only VP, but also the base game suddenly started behaving strangely?

If yes, then it's probably not VP related. Did anything change in your system before it started happening? New graphic card drivers perhaps?

The base game is having the miniaturized loading screen as if the resolution went down but then the game loads and works fine. Its when I try to load VP that the texture error pop ups happen and then when you get into the game its completely bugged out where as the base game still works normal despite the weird loading screen.

But your right it might not have to do with Vox, but im completely at odds on how to fix it regardless. Haven'0t changed my graphics card since last Vox patch, so not sure what would of happened in between, unless Firaxis updated the whole game and something got messed up.

@Jiggly, the miniature screen in the vanilla game is also a new thing, correct? The miniature loading screen and the VP glitches appeared at the same time, correct? If yes, then it's likely not VP related (maybe the problem is more significant in VP, because it consumes more memory, etc.).

I am pretty sure Civ5 was not updated. Maybe related to the latest Windows update? It could even be some sort of a malfunction of your system/PC. Hard to say.

Have you tried lowering the graphics and the in-game resolution? DX9?

Isn't the smaller load screen standard for non-EUI Civ, with EUI making it full screen? Perhaps you've got something weird going on with EUI, like you played standard civ with a beta EUI which is not compatible with VP, and there are leftover files interfering. Maybe something like that.

Is great general generation tied to units gaining XP rather than engaging in combat? I tried keeping track of GG points generated by killing barbarians only and i found out it is not generated anymore by units once they hit the max XP cap from barbarians.

Oh, yes, this is a very good point. I did not know the EUI was changing the loading screen. @Jiggly mentioned textures, I think the missing texture error messages are typical for wrong EUI installations - e.g. when EUI lands in a wrong location (and the game does not pick it up - but VP looks for the textures), or when the EUI version is wrong.

For the Shoshone Encampment (and technically the Moroccan Kasbah as well) if an enemy unit is adjacent to multiple improvements, will it take damage multiple times or just once per turn?

Holy Land or Global Commandments.

Which do you prefer for Diplomatic Victory?

Holy Land.

Global commandments is not really for DV per say. To me it’s designed for the civ that thinks they have a good shot to find the WC, as the auto leader at that time gives you a strong set of yields to work with.

holy land directly gives you the votes to help with DV

Which corporation is Incense tied to? I can't seem to find it on the Corporation list.

Edit: Nevermind, I found that it's tied to Hexxon Refinery.

Solved! Thank you, this was the problem. The auto-installer wasn't putting EUI anywhere as far as I can tell so I manually downloaded and placed it and then it went back to working as normal. I had been playing with EUI for so long i forgot that the standard screen was small and weird looking.

Appreciated!

This is what confused me, I knew you were not a new player, so I assumed you had EUI installed from before. Strange that it vanished???

I suppose your Steam/Civ5 is installed on a non-standard location? Or did you recently reinstalled Civ5 to location different from before?

For a long time I thought the autoinstaller was placing EUI always into the default location on drive C: (even at the cost of creating the dummy default folder structure there - just run a search for UI_bc1 folder and I bet you will find it there), but then another user corrected me that unless you had changed the Steam/Civ5 location the installer should place EUI in the correct location stored in the Win registry (if you reinstall/move the game elsewhere, the original registry is preserved, thus EUI lands in the wrong place).

What are all the benefits and downsides of trading open borders?

I actually just saw that when you give YOUR open borders to another civ, YOU get tourism boost and not them. I would have thought this would be the opposite. If this is the case, it seems beneficial to sell them your open borders but not ask for theirs... so that they dont get the tourism bonus on you... any advice about open borders/ tourism mechanics welcome.

How can I return conquered Capital to my vassal? It not represented in city-list when trade window opened.

Hey guys, anyone here uses the mod "Future Tech does something beyond increasing score" or have a similar mode recomendation? This mod is good but the tech related to it is unlocked from start, making the AI go for it sometimes and it ruins their game due to the cost. Also, is it normal for the Public Works tooltip to be broken (image below)? Thanks!

Austria just performed a coup in a city state without having spies. No one is in renaissance yet. Am I missing something? Latest version.

The statecraft policy tree grants spies before renaissance, Austria usually picks statecraft as it synergizes well with their UA and UB.

Thanks. I just assumed that the extra spies would be granted later if espionage isn't enabled yet.

I just donated $30 for a charity organization that cares for abandoned (often expelled) pregnant women (and for their children when they are born). I don’t consider it my donation, but yours, because you’ve given me hundreds of hours of great time with this mod. (I'm talking to the whole team) Thank you very much!

Thanks!
We're getting close to solve world problems just with a free mod. :D
