If you're really wanting to create a bit of anxiety, you could make it so that you actually have to build them, not upgrade to them. In fact, you could do that with all the ships and other mechanized units. Strategy would be changed in the game; you'd have to move modern units to the front lines via a supply line to replace the old outdated units. No more throwing money at old galleys to turn them into destroyers. Food for thought...
 
The way I have the upgrades going make it so you won't have the option of building any really old ship in the older eras, this reduces clutter in the city screen and I still have work to do to further fix that. :(

I am glad you're tidying up the city screen. Caravels have no business being built in the Industrial era.

Every game I see them that late I keep thinking(Maybe the citizens have the option of building that for reenactment purposes)..

Well I will definitely be testing things before I upload anything..don't want any red blobs this time. ;)

Ah damn. Thankyou for telling me Kingpin. You have really been a big help I cant state that enough.

I've been just adjusting art, testing etc. Sorry for the wait for the next version, just want it perfect(or at least as close to) as possible. ;)

New version released!

Changes in Version 3.1.3:

-New era scenes when reaching new eras. I thought it was time for a change.
-Added the Naacal
-Added new flags for all Civilizations
-Some clean up on unit upgrade paths was done to reduce clutter later in the game in the city build screen. No more Industrial Caravels.
-Theodora(from Civ3 and Civ4) has been added as the third leader of the Byzantines.
-New Seafaring Trait for more leader diversity.
-The Modern Era is now called the "Atomic Era", and the Synthetic Era is now the "Information Age".
-All eras now have an awesome new soundtrack which I spent hours putting together for the most immersive experience possible.

I wonder if there is anyone on the forums who could help me with that actually. I admit I'm totally clueless on the worldbuilder.

I definitely want the Knightly orders and Assasins at least in the next version though.(Months away).
 
Unfortunately I will not be able to comment on this mod yet. I am having DSL issues, and the farthest I got on any of my 4 attempts to download the file is 57%, and when I restart it it starts fresh, not picking up where it left off. supremely frustrating.

I'll try again when I leave for work, and when I go to bed tonight.

Quite a few actually. Dac would probably help if you aske, and I as well once my schedule settles down ( and I relearn how to flippin' mod again, sheesh :eek:).

As a recommendation, try DL'ing the GEM map from the archives (maps section) and save int a separate file (I think I used the private maps folder when I used to do it). Use Platy's WB (he's a flipping genius by the way, love Platy's work) to place the civs on the map in there TSL, the name the WB file what ever so you can test it in your mod, then tweak and peak until it comes out right.

Meant to ask a couple of questions for your update, now that I think about it.

1) Did you manage to find out the issue with Limited Releigions?

2) Did you go ahead and put in the Advanced Diplo option?

3) With the Knights and Assasins going into the next version, are you thinking of putting in the Super Spies option?

4) With the Assasins going in, what's your ideas for them, I.E. unit types, missions, xp and promo's? This could be a whole lot of fun with espionage ( I realise a quite a few folks hate espi, but I love it :D)


Oh, on the new rev, do I need to delete my older version for the new one? although now that I think of it, I suppose I could just click the link and find out :crazyeye:.

-1: I think the limited religion problem actually has something to do with the same reason Free Religion civic is not working. I think when I added the new civic category of Military somehow that screwed that up. Python is very sensitive :(

-2: I can work on integrating that actually. I'm assuming you mean Afforess Advanced Diplomacy modcomp?

4) Hmnn, so I'm guessing your planning on using a variation of the Guilds mod comp then in order to gain the desired criteria? Excellent news. You may want to talk to Vinz from the VIP mod, as he has an excellent selection of promo's for his spys and spec ops units. Additionally, he has a good deal of knowledge where the Guilds mechanics are concerned.


Good, thought I needed to delete the old version for the new one, but it's always best to ask first :D.
