Quot Capita: Majesty

/mods/Quot Capita/assets/xml/assets.. Sorry, should have been more clear. You may need to check in the art sub folder, or one of the others dealing with the unit flags. My bad KP, was rushed when I posted.

Not a problem, Drakarska. I figured you were going from memory. I really do appreciate your help with this.

I'm hoping to fix up all the units that have this problem. It looks so cool so have the flag on the shield. It's too bad this wasn't more widely used in unit creation.

I'm getting a graphical bug where everything tile seems to be black when the map loads. It only seems to happen if I use the original release beta thing for steam, but if I don't use that then I can't see what religion my civ or other civs pick in the list with all the civs that I have encountered. :(

I've seen that before too. The only solution I've found is to shut down Civ and try again. I'm not using the Steam version but I've found that eventually works.

Here's another example of a unit that needs the Shield color fixed. I still haven't found out how to do it.

Here's an example of where it is working properly in the game. This is the English Pikeman.

And it's what I want to be able to accomplish for those others that aren't displaying correctly. I'm trying to get some unit creators to tell me how to do it but I'm not getting any responses.

So for a flag like this, its working correctly for the english, but not other flags that also are non-decal?

I wish i knew more about how this worked because I do agree with you Kingpin, it really is an awesome graphical feature having the civ's flag displayed with the unit.

I think Airships are a little overpowered. The AI is building fleets of them instead of Cavalry and attacking everything, including ships, with them.

Also, the Siamese Ironclad is too small in comparison with other Ironclads. You can barely see it.

Airships are abit too easy to build right now, I agree. I'm going to have them require a factory(like the steam tank). That should help. But I wanted that period to have the option of going Steampunk, which is why those units are there. Remember if a civ has the ability to, they can upgrade Cavalry to Steam Tanks.

Siamese Ironclad is easily corrected though. The size is probably just set too small.

Sorry if this was addressed earlier in the thread. I did read the first few pages, but not everything.
When I start a game in this mod, I get black tiles for water, grass, some other things. In those first pages, there was a link to C2C mod where this happened and the fix for it. However I have been running C2C without any issues.
Did try the clear cache thing again though, but no luck. Still black tiles.
Any suggestions on how to fix this? I'm sure it's just an easy thing, but you have to know it.
Thank you

<edit>
Never mind. I forgot the second part about unpakking those fpk's. It's ok now. Just hope that the game is worth the very very loooong load time.

Load times are based on Mod size. Since you've stated that you've played C2C, you should be familiar with this already. After you've loaded QC a time or two, you should see an improvement ( again, similar to C2C). Alternatively, you can load directly from your save game folder ( or even file manager that's in your tray) and save yourself some time from all the excess screens.

True, but the load time of this one vs c2c is more than double (give or take, never put a clock next to it). No matter, if the mod is good, I'm ok with that. Probably going to leave the game open as long as possible.
Do you know if a session of Civ4 and then this mod could survive putting the pc in sleep mode for a few days without crashing?

That would depend on your system specs. Personally, I've never had an issue with leaving a game running. Although, I've always made sure to save game before I do that :D.

Well it's not optimal, but I'd think is reasonable. C2C loads in just over 5 minutes. QC however takes 25-30 minutes which I think is to big a difference, so maybe there is a way to speed it up.

Unfortunately the game crashed (after a reload of a save) and now I get an error when I try to reload a (previous) save and the game stops. Not sure what happens here, going to try again but with that load time, I'm not to keen to test to much..

C2C places most of the graphical files in FPK files, which speeds up the mod loading times. Currently Majesty does not do that.

Im not sure how to properly pack files in FPK format. If I did I would definitely use it...

Drak do you know how they work?

Still learning to do that myself kiddo. I believe there is a tool you can use to make all of that a whole lot easier, but I haven't had time to investigate further. Best bet would be to surf the C2C tech forum and see what they use and how they do it. Sorry, wish I could be more help.

I apologize, but Ive done some investigating, and I think further additions of more FPK files, while they would speed up the game's loading, would also drasticly increase the likelyhood of game crashes.

So I ask all players to be patient with this mod, it may take awile to load, but Ive been really trying to eliminate game crashes. Decreasing loading time would be counterproductive.

Anyone with any suggestions regarding gameplay or anything else is welcome btw.

The main cause of the mod loading so slowly is the amount of civilizations included. I think my mod may have the most.

Anyways, hows everyone? Any requests? Still modding civ4 for the time being, and I value all your imput.

The load time seems to vary. I'm wondering if Windows is doing something in the background.
