Quot Capita

I was thinking the same. But maybe the changes go further than just adding new techs to the beginning of the tech tree. The "screenshots" are only thumbnail size, so no way I could read anything. Who knows what gameplay changes remain even when you select Ancient as starting era..

Slowed growth, mythological creatures is exclusive to Prehistoric era.
Hunting is a mechanic that works until there are animals.
You'll of course be able to build Stone Age units until they become obsolete with Ancient Era counterparts.
There is one thing, you'll get a Band of Homo Sapiens instead of a settler, which is basically a settler with Sentry.

If there is something else, it was unintentional, and should be reported here for me to check.
Also, if you read the initial post, you'll get a pretty good idea what changes are done to the core game. There should not be big surprises.

I'm more than ever looking for feedback now.

I just started as Willem van Oranje and i have all 4 starting technologies instead of Gathering and Stone Tools.

In Fine-Edged Tools, change "workers build improvements 25% faster" to "gatherers (...)".

I will check it. BTW, are you sure it's not because you started on a lower difficulty level?

Hmm, I believe it's the same for all improvement build inc. techs, so cannot be easily changed unfortunately...

Hm, didn't know it works that way. I was playing on chieftain.

Game tells me when barbarians produce a mythical unit. It was intended? Also, i was fighting with normal barbarian warrior, but cant see any neanderthals.
Lack of attack animation for rhinoceros.
In technology screen theres 2 times 'slash and burn' in Fire.

If you want me to stop writing about those little issues, i woudl ;) only trying to help, because i really enjoy your mod.

@os79: yep, if you integrate it and play with it and report back that everything runs even better with it one day it might even get included ;)

@mamba: currently it's not optional, but I've got a proposition about making it optional cpp-wise from Afforess. The biggest problems I see is with some xml files that cannot be made modular, but will see.

@Sword_Of_Geddon: mamba is a good friend of mine, so he can freely say I suck!;)

@sav: Hmm, sorry about this... I admit it could be made more patch-like, but I just don't have the time to do it, I rather developed new features...

In that case Mamba, do what you want. :p

Don't stop! I need (error) reports! I want to correct everything I can.

Barbarians produce a mythical unit - it is a side effect because I wanted to limit the number of mythical units globally, and if such a unit is created, the game automatically notifies the player. I'm not entirely happy about this, and I am also unsure if the global limit is really working or not...

You can't see any neanderthals? Please try World Builder and check if there was any. They spawn only as long as the animals are, and I have also incorporated a difficulty setting for it: the lower the difficulty you are playing, the less neanderthals you'll be seeing.

Lack of attack animation for rhinoceros - yep, it is a problem. You know how I created that rhino? I removed the rider from a fantasy unit... I would need an expert animators help to animate it properly I fear...

2 times 'slash and burn' in Fire - correct, and I remember reporting something similar to a mod;) It is because one slash and burn is for the forests, and the second is for jungles. But will see if it can be changed.

Thanks again for these reports and keep them coming!

For some reason, going into Play Now crashes the game.
For example, selecting america and then obama crashes it.
I'm guessing there aren't models for them?
Their pedia entries are missing too.

Are you sure you did everything ok at install? I just checked and it's working ok for me, and have civilopedia too.

I'm pretty sure I installed everything correctly.
I even reinstalled. I uninstalled quot capita 7 before I installed the newest version.

I found out why. I need both VD packs installed, or it won't work.

This means there must be leftovers from the uninstaller, I need to correct it for the next version. Until that, please make sure and manually delete the Quot Capita folder prior to reinstalling.

avain, I tried your stone age addition. Really great! :goodjob: It gives an amazing epic feel! :) :) :)

A few minor nitpickings (from my few first turns so far) ;)
- The message "barbarians have created ..." [giants, minotaurs etc.] - or whatever is the exact message - sounds a bit ... strange. For atmospheric reasons, would it be possible to change these messages to something like "A [minotaur ... or the names you use] has appeared" or "has been created by the gods" or something similar?
- IIRC when I killed a minotaur my people brought food back home. I wasn't able to check, but when killing such a creature will I also get a cultural boost in the city (due to new heroic stories etc.)? If I kill a giant will the people bring back home food as well (like cannibals)?
- The ability to chop down forests and jungles comes quite early now. So far I haven't chopped down anything, so forgive me, if my thoughts are completely off here. But I wondered a bit about the amazing quality ;) of these "stone tools" with which these people are able to chop down these many and huge trees (on one tile). So, I was thinking whether it would be possible to have a "gatherer" "gathering" fallen down tree branches (but not being able to chop down whole forests), to give some production boost, and keep the forests until "real" (massive) chopping becomes available with bronze working.

All these thoughts are, as usual, only suggestions. So skip them if you don't like them.
I hope to find some more time to play soon (and provide some more nitpickings). ;)

See one of my previous post for detailed answer (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=9450699&postcount=1207). But I will most probably change it somehow.

If this happened, it's clearly an error. Mythologicals should provide only culture. I'll check the code.

Actually I included "Burn and slash" for gameplay reasons, to counter jungle and full forest starts. It does not give any production, it's just a possibility to burn down the jungle/forest. But I need you guys to play a lot and report back balance issues!

Nitpickings are a good thing, that means feedback and I like feedback

Oh, sorry, I must have overlooked that comment. I just thought you could change the text of that message, not the mechanism or so.

Sorry, I didn't want to worry you. I am not 100% sure whether the food message came from the myth creature or an animal I killed during that turn as well (I might have overlooked the cultural message when the food message (for the animal?) appeared - at that moment I was too fascinated by watching the fight of the creature and my warrior ;) ). Since the barbs sacked me only a few turns later, I am unfortunately unable to post a save or look into the log of that game. (And the next game I played (or better I am playing) much more defensively. ;) )

Oh, I like that "burn and slash feature" that comes with "fire". And I would definitely vote for keeping it where it is. What I referred to were these techs on the bottom of the tech trees (sorry I don't know their name by heart yet ;) ) which allow you to chop(!) forests.
Nitpickings are a good thing, that means feedback and I like feedback
Good, then I will give you more. ;) (see next post)

Some more nitpickings: ;)
- Why are the pics in the tech popups smaller than the standard BtS pics?
- Do the mythodological creatures disappear (for the player) when the first (AI or player) civ discovers myst? (even though I had not researched myst so far, I got a message that these creatures from now on would only haunt the storytellers at the fire or whatever...)
- The incentive to build "Lascaux Paints" is very limited, because it will already become obsolete with myst. And building units and two or three buildings already keeps the player quite busy until ancient times. Perhaps you could think of making it more interesting to build.
- How long are the Neanderthals around? I have already researched writing (around 2300 BC) and they still appear. (Btw, I saw quite a number of them. No need to change the chance of their appearance.) ;)

Oh and hunting is a lot of fun! :D

Oh yeah I've noticed a few weird things.
For example, the AI researches far down the tech tree and doesn't even get some essential techs early in the stone age, just skips them. I was already in the Classical Age and the AI didn't even have Prehistoric Music. :)

The game crashes at start of 334 turn on Epic speed. This happens even if I reloaded a auto save. I don't know if something special is building or happening in my empire, Ill check it if you want me to.
