Quot Capita

The game crashes at start of 334 turn on Epic speed. This happens even if I reloaded a auto save. I don't know if something special is building or happening in my empire, Ill check it if you want me to.

Maybe it was an MLF. Do you have a low amount of RAM?

I've trying to add one more unique unit to each civilization. So far, in alphabetical order, I have finished up to the English civ.

I have made no graphics at all. All the graphics are borrowed from different modders. I just did all the XML.

Try it out and maybe once we finish it, the new unique units could be included in a new patch!

Thanks!

BTW: This is entirely modular

Downloading and 7 mins to go! Yipee, can't control myself :DD

Thank you so much avain for undertaking this, and it's all the better that it's into an already great, inclusive and expansive mod such as Quot Capita. I almost played it a few weeks ago but after such a big download it came out corrupted. Now I'll download as many times as it takes (hope one does it!)

I feel like I'm about to play a new expansion and the besterest of all. A new game, even. Will report as much as I can.

p.s. Do you plan on having Quot Capita make the jump to Civ V?

Oh yeah I've noticed a few weird things.
For example, the AI researches far down the tech tree and doesn't even get some essential techs early in the stone age, just skips them. I was already in the Classical Age and the AI didn't even have Prehistoric Music. :)
Indeed, I find it frustrating how I am in the Medieval Age yet my rivals are still researching Ancient Age technologies. It really unbalances the game.

Noticied a couple of weird things during game play
1 When trying to play custom game start at stone age era could create world and after map was generated the "leaderboard", was blank, and map was black. If you went to info screens and out you could then get to see and play the game, for about 5 turns and would crash, did this under 3 or 4 different leaders.
2 Tried to start a game using a non custom game and that worked but started off at ancient era, instead of stone age, and ranged bombard does not work.
Thankd for all the work to make the mod

8.0 crashes on initial load.

Any installation - leaders/marble/blood with or without

Any way to troubleshoot?

Win 7
Tried both compaibility mode on\off

What is that DLL? why is it faulting?

****FIXED*****

fixed with system reboot

hm ... dont have that .dll file on my install ...
do you have the steam version? might be faulting with some connection there eventually ...

P.S.: ok, did a quick search on the oracle and it says this is an Windows Compatibility DLL ... dunno what your system is trying to do, but you might wanna check Compatibility mode of and try again ... -> http://processlist.com/info/acxtrnal-13.html

P.P.S.: hm ... Civ4 does not show up in the list, but eventually this might help you : http://support.microsoft.com/KB/976264

avain, I found a bug! I was already in the ancient era (teching to aest) and wanted to remove some jungle. However, that was not possible. Neither "slash and burn" nor "chop down" was available, even though both of them should have been from the stone gae era. As you see in the screenshot I was told to research IW first.

Btw, the Ishtar Gate is a quite powerful wonder - contact to all civs AND 2 Esp points per reli building (quite early in the game when you don't have that many sources for Esp points). If you compared that to the UoSankore which gives only 2 science per reli building and comes later in the game (when you usually get most of your science from other sources), I would say it is really (perhaps too) strong.

Regarding all the crashes that others report: So far I have started two games and everything went well, no crash, no black screens. And I have a rather slow pc. Could it be the map type people play on? I play(ed) fractal and tectonic maps.

Hm, the main civs in my game do quite well, some of the later created civs (that were barbs initially) aren't that advanced. But that is not surprising since they weren't able to develop and expand as the initial main civs. And some of the initial civs lag behind due to having overexpanded which will be punished much more now with the revolution feature - or do you play without that?
Perhaps, you might want to increase your difficulty level?

Problem has gone after the reboot.
Thanks for the suggestions!!

It seems like just Windows 7 is still loves reboots..

Sorry for multiple posts.

Now when the mod loads and the game starts after 20 or so turns it start to lag very much.

When I look into process explorer I see that DFC (deferred procedure calls) consume most of the processor's time.

And this happen only for QC 8.0 which is completely unplayable for me now.
For Win 7 32 bit I've tried compatibility modes but without any luck.

Also seen problmes when I do not install additional leaders reported earlier..

P.S. trouble never comes along...

I have played to the modern era so far, and no problems yet on mine. Only saw two creatures I did not see before one Orangutan that did not fight me and one small dinosaur I killed, did not see any cavemen. Had to skip some of the stone age techs, because better ones were available before I could research the older ones. Maybe it is the level I play on, standard size, Chieftain level.

About 3 GB. Is it enough?

BTW, avain, are you going to merge into your QC mod for bigger map sizes? I really enjoy playing on giant maps.

Strange. I think it's because you said you like the giant maps... Those take a lot of RAM probably.

You know you should not report MAFs if you play at your machine's limit. Just report that they are there, that's it. Then be sure to have your Civilization4.ini entries changed for autosaves. Have it save you three savegames at a time at minimum, then have it save every turn. Now, when you MAF, just start up with the latest autosave and continue. Repeat when you MAF. Continue doing that until you win, lose, or just bored with the game :).

another weird bug, not sure if anyone knows.

I am playing a custom scenario (monarch Student) on noble, and noticed the time turner is saying the years as 41,000AD and so forth going up. I quit my game when it said 55,000AD. Anyone else have this? or could it be due to being a custom scenario?

Hi Guys. First-time poster here. I've lurked for quite some time but I wanted to tell Avain that I absolutely love QC.

I have yet to download v8 (heck, I just discovered v7!) but I wanted to report that I'm seeing text errors in the various religious events (joyous marriages, angry in-laws, that sort of thing) where it's replacing the name of the religion with the letter "T". I saw someone mention this way back in the thread but as of my version it apparently wasn't fixed.

Also - I don't know if this is QC or if it's from the vanilla game (I've never noticed!) but when someone talks to me I'm seeing a lot of syntax errors when referring to Civ names such as "The annoying Roman must be destroyed. Care to assist?" It should be "Romans". (I know I'm nit-picky but things like this bother me.) I'm seeing it with a lot of Civilization references.

I'm still in my first (serious) game playing on v7 but I'm having an absolute blast. I'm still just in the renaissance era. :)

Thanks, Avain. Great work.

Another thing I've noticed, I'm wondering if it's intentional (I'm on v7, remember):

The upgrade cost for a Trebuchet to a Bombard is only 20gp, while a Catapult to Bombard is 200gp. I find the former price to be very, very low. The latter seems more in line with normal upgrades.

I just downloaded the game last night and am playing it at the moment. I have to say that this is a nice mod, it enhances the playing experience while it's not too complex to confuse a newbie to the mod.

I noticed that when start a game with random map, it starts at 100,000 BC, however, the 3 pre-made maps start at 4000 BC. I realized it when I played one of the pre-made map and found that the date was 94,000 AD, and I haven't even discovered iron working :p Just thought I'd mention it here.

It's my computer limit? I've played other mods with greater maps than normally available in Civ without any problems. Also the save-load method is not working. I obviously tried this before I posted.
And what the hell is MAF? ;)
