R.E.D. modpack

Immediately downloaded off civfanatics! Once again, great thanks.

New version uploaded !

v.19 (Oct 10, 2012):
- Bug/Crash fix : Mongol Rifleman and French Composite Bowman were not correctly defined.
- All code for unit initialization use the new method introduced with v.16 (to allow faster update)
- Add a batch of new units thanks to JTitan :
Songhai scout
Ethiopia scout
Barbaric Invasion (warriors pack)
- Add some forgotten units from Danrell's packs, and some other to replace the UU's corresponding "normal" units in case of gift
Panther (Tank) and KingTiger (Panzer UU) to Germany
B-25 for America
and a few more I forgot to note, sorry...

Is it save game compatible with v18 (I know the previous versions were but this seems like a big overhaul)?

\Skodkim

yes, it should be compatible. It is on my PC at least :)

Hi Gedemon

It seems theres a syntax error somewhere in R.E.D. v.19. I've deleted all other mods from the mod library and get the following in Database.log when enabling the mod:

thanx, but don't search more, it's the Netherlands config file, I'll fix it with next release (soon) :D

can you test on a dual sized map with only one opponent please ?

I am having the same problem too... You might recall its the same issue I've been having for some time... For the others, try removing all the art files for anything more modern than riflemen... Doing that would allow the game to at least start up (though obviously it kinda limited the extent to which you can play, as everything after that point will not have the relevant 'ethnic' version).

Gedemon, here is a file for you:

1) http://www.mediafire.com/?847w0xbomwgr0ki - A short FRAPS clip showing what happens at the point of clicking 'start game' (Oddly enough, its actually different than what I see... I see the leader screen come up, and the audio start, but it crashes after about a second, though the audio keeps playing in the background).
NOTE: The start of the clip shows the game settings

I was also running the hotfix and the 'default scale' mods... There were a couple of others too, but I KNOW having them on isn't the problem.

My games running fine with it so far.

would it be possible to just post an updated file here in the meantime? Been waiting for it before I start a new game.

I can do better ;)

New version uploaded on CFC Database and Steam Workshop.

v.20 (Oct 14, 2012):
- Bug fix : Netherlands units where not replaced.
- Add a few new units thanx to JTitan:
Bantu Spearman (was Ethiopian Spearman, now used as generic African only for City states)
Ethiopia Spearman
Ethiopia Warrior
Ethiopia archer
Maya Warrior
Maya Holkan (Spearman)

R.E.D. Xtreme also updated to v.20, remember to install/update it after R.E.D. Modpack, else the formations will be broken.

Have you ever though of being totally extreme radical and reducing the units to so small and increasing the number so its just a bunch of dots?

I know it sounds dumb at first, but if you had say 50 little man-like dots together, it would look more like an army. If you kept the sound effects and flash effects we could tell if they were shooting guns or fighting melee. The symbol flag would show what they are anyway. The loss of men will be represented by less dots (2\3, 1\3). Tanks and aircraft could be reduced similary, but should be big enough to see what they are and you could add more of them too. So you would see 20 small tanks instead of 2 or 3 big ones.

Point is, I`m wondering if it would be possible to get that huge army versus huge army feel? I know this would make it impossible to tell the unit diversity, but that`s not what we would see with a huge army at this distance anyway.

Just wondering. I don`t even know if it`s possible.

the number of figure per unit is limited to something near 32, that the number used in R.E.D. Xtreme, lowering the scale even more would not allow more figures.

On a side note, there is a problem with the English composite bowman, I'll post an update *soon* (before or this WE). Will be save compatible.

ok, thanks for your response. Great work anyway, it looks as close to an army as it can anyway.

New update, available on Civfanatics and Steam Workshop

v.21 (Oct 21, 2012):
- Bug fix : English composite bowman was not correctly defined
- Bug fix : Attack animation for German and French Hussard (Cavalry) is now correctly set to use "melee", not "distance"
- Add Riflemen for Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden thanks to Bernie14
- Add more Longswordsmen models (some "what if...") to America, Austria, Byzantium, England, France, Germany, Huns, Celts and Spain thanks to Bernie14
- Add Ethiopian Horseman and Swordsman (Nubian swordsman now used by African city states, previous African swordsman now used by Carthage) thanks to JTitan

R.E.D. Xtreme also updated to v.21, as usual install/update after R.E.D. Modpack

I`m running out of thankyous... so Cheers. And thanks for making it optional to download both here as well as on steamworks.

Thanks to Danrell you're getting v.22 way before I planned it :D

Uploaded on Civfanatics and Steam Workshop

R.E.D. Xtreme is also updated to v.22, as usual install after R.E.D. Modpack

Finally Ancient American Units :D I've been waiting so long for those. After the patch has arrived I'll certainly play with (and against) them again! I love how far (and how fast) this mod has developed!
