R&L01 - Monarch Space Race

@rrau - Please accept my most sincere apologies. I am quite sorry for my mistake, and will strive to be correct in the future.

If jb doesn't pick it up in 24, then please feel free to grab it.

Looks like this storm is going to miss central Florida so I should be able to play the first round as scheduled.

I'll check in with Mistfit also.

I'm having some computer problems on the computer I play civ on. I think I'm going to have to recover the hard drive tonight or tomorrow, so I can't take it right now.

Hi gang, I was out of commision this weekend dealing with some health problems. I'm up in another game so please skip me here. Thanks.

Detlef's time is gone, if we don't hear by 6:00 EDT, then please proceed as follows:

RowAndLive - just played
Detlef Richter - skip
jb1964 - skip
Misfit - UP
DJMGator13 - On Deck
rrau - on bench

Any discussoin as to city locations/techs to study/build orders?

My initial thoughs before opening the save are:
1.) Very little river available - going to be spending $$$ on Aqueducts and Hospitals
2.) This is Arch so IMO we need our second city to be on the coast to crank out some Curraugh's
3.) Each city should have available min. 12 tiles to work if not more. We will need the shields available to build space parts
4.) If the worker is available to move go and chop the forrest on the game to hurry the grainary.
5.) build warriors until the town is big enough to build settler.

Yeah, definately need to meet the neighbors if we want a fast tech pace. We can speed up WRIT to 30 turns by going 100%. Should be able to do Republic slingshot so I would go CoL after WRIT.

We have a double tobacco and double wine area for future cities. Hopefully we can find some good food resources to get a settler pump going. If not we need two shield strong cities rotating between settlers and warriors/carughs while waiting for city to grow. Based on current visible map I do not see a spot that gives more than +2food in Despot.

back online with a new computer - my other one crashed with a total hard drive meltdown  when trying to restore to factory conditions.

I'am very sorry for this delay. I had some big RL stuff to handle with no chance for internet access. If no one else had played, here are my turns:

2900: 25g from a goodiehut

2750: Seoul builds a granary, next curragh

2630: Seoul builds a curragh, next curragh (we need a higher pop to go on
with a settler factory)

Nothing happens at the other turns, only exploring with no specials.

@Detlef - Thank you for posting! Understandable that RL creeps in every once in a while. I hope it's all taken care of.

I was doing writing by going for Philo to get the free tech, but am relatively new to C3C, so this may not be the best thing to do. I will say that there is some fresh water within a reasonable distance, and that we do have a neighbor, but they're not too close for comfort.

After the curragh finishes we should probably build a settler. We can speed WRIT up to 29 turns from the current 35 but at Monarch we should be fine at current pace.

We have a worker irrigating a plain when we have 3 river BG not mined yet. I would make those priority.

I hate building the Colossus this early but the extra commerce with our river capital could really pay off. Once we get past 2nd tier techs we are probably researching on our own unless we do a lot of gifting techs, so the Colossus could be beneficial, however it will probably waste our GA.

 why aren't pic's showing up in the thread?

My understanding is that only 1 picture will come up per message, thus my map choices above, but I'm not well versed on the topic.

You need to include them inside the image command.

For example:
(IMG)http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads8/r&l01_2190_a.jpg(/IMG)

but use brackets [ ] instead of parenthesis ( )

By using this method you can include more than one picture in your post. Attaching an image only allows for one picture.

EDIT: Must be something with the server. I just tried to add your picture to my post and it did the same thing.

OK, the health issues continue to linger but I'm up for playing some turns.

Here's my shot at saving a .jpg file to the thread. seems to work for me even with picture of very low aesthetic value. :)

So are you "Unskipped"?

Edit1:
I realize that RCP in not applicable for C3C but what are we planning? Tight placement or loose? I love dot maps, I think they make my chances of screwing up someone elses ideas less likely.

Edit#2:
@jb1964 - If you don't mind me asking 1.) what is your avatar? 2.) is that a pic of you?
