Rage quitting AI

In one of my games I was declared on by babylon around 1AD. I razed 2 of his cities and then just played defensively as I was going for a culture victory. I was killing probably 10 of his units to every 1 he killed of mine. Every turn I would check to see if he was ready to make peace yet. Hundreds of turns later he still wouldn't even talk to me about peace. Finally around 1850AD he finally offers a peace deal and offers me 4 of his cities and all his gold/resources/etc. I mean WTH? I wanted to make peace hundreds of turns earlier and I would have done it for free and he wouldn't even give me the option. And now he offers me half his empire even though I haven't done anything but defend my cities. Makes no sense.

#4 of the 6 improvements in the new patch is "AI valuation of cities in trades and peace deals improved." I hope so, because I too have seen this phenomenon.

Russia gave me all of their cities too. It was pitiful. The AI is so bad in this game. I never would've believed it if I didn't witness it myself. I've witnessed an AI civ send settlers deep into another civs territory and build a city it has no hope of connecting to its empire when it has plenty of open land near its borders.

Yes I too would like to know, where is this patch you speak of?

Issues fixed include:

1. Game now runs if user path includes special characters.
2. AI will now make gold per turn deals in amounts other than 5 GPT.
3. Open borders is canceled immediately if war is declared and troops in enemy lands displaced.
4. AI valuation of cities in trades and peace deals improved.
5. Unit maintenance now scales appropriately in Time Limit games.
6. Various crash fixes.

Thanks to Ed Beach (Lead Gameplay-AI Programmer for Civ5) for the info!

The patch has already hit Steam. For some reason they didn't publish patch notes through Steam and instead did it through forums.

I don't have Civ Cinqo yet but am I to believe that you can "resurrect" destroyed civilizations by liberating their cities?

Yup! And it doesn't have to be their former capital, either. I liberated Tours and Napoleon was "resurrected," and then Madras, which brought back Gandhi.

Downloaded new patch with AI improvements...rolled new start again with Babylon.

This time I am on continent with 3 AIs (japan again!, Suleiman and Siam). After I settled 4th city around 600BC suleiman and japan said they have enough of me!

Japan was more active and again attacked akkad ;-). Well i was even less prepared then yesterday, but succesfully managed to clear his initial units (the AI just doesnt know how to fight against defense, since defense is very strong in this game!)

I eventually came to counter attack taking Tokio, the foolishly got eaten between Osaka and Kyoto, I activelly tried to sign peace. Well the AIs were other meaning...for something like 20 turns I was stuck in war I didnt want with no progress....

I lured a bit some units of Japan to Tokyo, eaten his force with superior 2x bows+2x HC and finally they offered this peace:

Better? I don't think so! still everything except for capital.

To my surprise next turn came suleiman with HIS offer for peace... just to be clear, I didnt crush any unit of him! it was classic phony war...

Interresting I took both offers for sure... at least the ottomans didnt give me all of his cities...
