RaNDom-0?

If you would be so kind as to take a break from flying your Tie Fighter for a moment to post a save.

Oh and I brought five dollars and some orange slices...just like you asked

First I'm posting the wrong save in SAM, now I forget it entirely here. Looks like I'm slipping again!

Mmm, orange slices.

Now all we need to do is train a group of deadly Missionaries. No, wait, I meant . . . actually, that is what I meant.

I have no problem waiting for Mighty to return and play the next set.

However, I will post a plan to spark conversation.

Switch tiles in Randomania to promote growth.
Now that Whosit traded for some happies we can grow some more here.

Heliohille can switch from research to an axeman.
I figure we can build up the mine and hire another scientist here.

Choas will spring up nicely when we work the clams and get a lighthouse built here.
Shame that we can't work the whales until Optics.

Stochascity should whip out the WB as soon as possible and pasture the cows quickly as well.
I would interrupt Dons cottaging to build that first.

Toast is on track and the worker should finish the sugar mine (sounds funny) in time to hook up the iron mine.

Don't forget to crank science up...I chose 50% since it would give us Aesthetics next turn.

Not really sure what to do with Louey.
We don't really have a science powerhouse to academy.

The best I could think of was this. And its not really that great.
We tech Drama next.
We backfill Meditation somehow.
Our GSci would then bulb Philo for us.

However, with us potentially joining confusion in the near future I don't see the benefit of that.

Bulbing Compass now might not be so horrible though.
All of our cities are coastal so harbors+currency would boost our economy nicely.

I would hold off on joining Confusion for just a little while longer.
We don't need the happies right now and I don't want to anger Catherine just yet.

I think if we settle another city it could be just south of Kenishis location.
It would grab marble (for a GLib run), ivory for more happies, and has a decent amount of grasslands.
My only concern is that we may not have any fresh water for irrigation or farms.

Thicklespit?
Your mind works in strange ways sometimes Whosit! :D

Just some "random" thoughts about the save.

Maybe I misread the posts...I thought that Mighty was up next.
If he can take it next that seems best since he hasn't played in a while.
If he can't then I will grab it tomorrow to get this ball rolling again.

Sorry for the confusion!

Ahh sorry must have misread somewhere I thought I was skipped this time through which would be best have been tied up with SAM 02 and have not much time for rest of week take it ahead sturick

Now that I read through it again I see you asked for a skip...
Sorry gang!

I will play tomorrow!

Good? Things Come To Those Who Wait

Preturn

The new leader of the Randomites is King Procrasinator the Third!
I am known throughout the land as a wise leader who is often late to board meetings.
I surverys the kingdom and like what I sees.

Reading through the history books I learn of past leaders who ruled Randomania.

Such as Helio-Pharoah Whosit, who holds the record for most servants killed during the course of a reign.
And of Sweetachson, transposer of letters and founder of many cities, who had a theatre installed in the castle to watch his favorite movies.
Also, Mighty Dwaarf, who requested that his tombstone read, "A fine leader who had the most boring turnset of all time...but at least I found truffles!"
Sengir the Mighty built a new castle far away, perhaps he will return to his native home one day in the future.
Then comes the chapter on the rule of King Sturick. Most of it is scribbled out but what remains is mostly commentary about his questionable lineage and poor grooming habits. Turns out the author of this history book lived in Lambeau Field...perhaps his judgment was affected in some way???

The first order of business as leader is to determine what to do with the smart guy, Louis Pasteur.
I call him into my throne room.
He asks if we have any cows.
I respond "What are cows?"
He raises an eyebrow "You know. The large animal that produces milk."
"Still no idea what you are talking about."
He storms off very angry. Apparently he had this big idea about how to make milk safer to drink. Milk seems plenty safe to me.
I tell him to study Philosophy in the hopes creating a religion based upon it.

Thanks to the newly built Lighthouse in Randomania I choose to work the lake tile rather than the desert corn tile for the extra commerce. Production starts on an axeman.

We learn the secrets of Aesthetics...I don't really care for the new picture of the creepy lady that has been put in my throne room!

random2aesth.jpg

Scholars are now binarily researching Drama in order for Louis to learn Philosophy.

(2) 230 BC

Choas expands its borders and I order the workboat to be whipped out immediately.

Stochascity expands its borders revealing fish and cow.
OHHHHH! Thats what Louis was talking about.

(3) 215 BC

Choas uses the extra hammers from the whip to begin a granary.
Gogo double speed granary!

(4) 200 BC

Clams are now hooked up for Choas.

(5) 185 BC

The Oracle has been built far away by Lincoln of Korea.
Lets see what tech they choose.
Looks like they took Metal Casting.
Lincoln is developing quite the tech lead.

(6) 170 BC

Heliohille builds an axe...I send him to the south to scout out our next potential city sites. Decent resources to our south.

(7) 155 BC

Randomania does what Heliohille should have last turn.
That is whip out an axe!

(8) 140 BC

Stochascity grows to size two this turn so they feel the whip as well.

Confusion gets spread to Heliohille.

Judiasm (CoL) is founded by Augustus Caesar.

(9) 125 BC

Cashslow is a serious problem for our empire.
We need to think about the best ways for us to cut costs to keep our economy afloat!
I think I will start by producing less axes...for now at least.

(10) 110 BC

The best trade we can get for Aesthetics right now is Archery and Poly.
Thats like a 2:1 beaker ratio.
Not good!

(11) 95 BC

In order to keep costs down I choose to start a dreadfully slow 42 turn Moai statues in Heliohille. It is probably going to be our Heroic Epic city so I hope you all like the move.

In further efforts to keep costs down I delete several obsolete warriors.
RIP Arnath, Tarzan and Bored Defenders.
We save about 5 gpt with these deletions.

(12) 80 BC

Choas whips the rest of its granary with 43 overflow.

(13) 65 BC

Randomania begins the Pyramids to try and gain some failure cash.
I don't have any good city builds at the moment.

(14) 50 BC

I am finding some barb cities to the south. I think I will round up some troops to try and capture them for some quick monies.

(15) 35 BC

Drama is coming along very slowly...almost there though.

(16) 20 BC

Report losing steam...must...research...Drama.

(17) 5 BC

Very excited for the change to AD coming next turn!

(18) 10 AD

Augustus Caesar starts a Golden Age.

And I am pretty sure that Drama arrives in 2 turns.

(19) 25 AD

Woot! Drama will arrive next turn! Hooray!

(20) 40 AD

Good news and bad news.

Good news...Drama arrives.
Bad news...I forgot that Meditation is a prereq for Philo.
Badder news...no one is willing to trade Meditation since it has a wonder attached to it.

Guess we will just need to research it ourselves...what a waste!

Gonna take a small risk attacking a barb settlement with two archer defenders.
We have 71% odds for both of our attacking axes which means that we have a 51.19% chance of winning both battles.

Here goes nothing!

Of course...it figures that both of them die.
8.09% odds of that happening!
Sheeesh!

(21) 55 AD

Catherine converts to Confusion...guessing we should do the same next turnset.

(22) 70 AD

Christianity spreads to mmmm...toast

(23) 85 AD

Christianity spreads to Stochascity.

(24) 100 AD

So finally the plan...such as it is comes to fruition!

We tech Meditation...of course now everyone will trade it!
We bulb Philo...Louis and I celebrate over a glass of milk and cookies!

random2bulb.png

We have a Taoist Holy City in Choas. Kinda ironic...chaos and yin-yang together.

random2taoism.png

We finally have real trading chips to play with!

I will mercifully end things here.

Sorry for the extra turns but I wanted to finish off the plan.
I honestly thought it would take 15-20 turns to do it all.
Well it turns out that it took 24 turns...
I guess things always take longer to finish when you procrastinate!

And so you will be remembered as the leader who got things done . . . eventually.

And so knowledge of Taoism was brought to Randomania (although I really think we want to become Confucian for the diplomatic pluses) with creeds such as "take it easy" and "never do today what you may put off until tomorrow" and "wait, that was due yesterday?!" Wise words, indeed.

I'm nothing but pleased with your set (the little history moment at the top was fun). We really do have cash problems and honestly the map makes it a little trickier to remedy since it's much harder to find a traditional (commerce) site. Shame about losing those axemen. Maybe we should assemble a squad of four or five and send them south hunting barbarian towns. That really does seem like the best way to raise funds in the short term. Unfortunately, those archers probably have City Garrison by now.

Anyway, I think Sweet is up now.

I'm up? Ok, well the thing is I'm going away for the weekend tomorrow. I might have time to play, but I'm not sure. I suggest that I'm skipped, unless by some miracle I find the time in the morning, in which case I'll post here first.

OK, not sure exactly when morning is for you, but . . . .

Let's see, if you don't play, then . . .

1. sturick (just played)
2. Sweetacshon (skip?)
3. Sengir (auto-skip)
4. Mighty Dwaarf (up?)
5. OJimiJam (MIA)
6. Whosit (not up)

So, if you're out there, Mighty, and Sweet hasn't played in the next twelve hours or so, good chance that you're up to bat. I'm also officially striking OJimiJam from the Roster, so if any lurkers (do we even have any?) are interested in joining, now is the Golden Opportunity.

Like Sweet I'll be away for most of weekend too maybe able to fit something in Fri eve or Sat morning but cant promise. I'll wait to see if Sweet takes it tomorrow first.

Lurker peeking in again to say that this is still fun watching - but probably even more so playing! I am considering joining in when my last vacation is over with (the 10th), since you look to be a man short. Only problem is that I am not yet running .19 - will this be a problem?

We are playing in 3.19, so you'd have to update to play. However, most SGs have updated since the last SGOTM has ended, so if that was your concern, lay it to rest. That aside, we would be most pleased to have you join us when you return!

Sounds cool. I only kept .17 around for SG and FFH II, but it seems like neither of those are of any concern now. I'll update asap and join in around the 10th, then.

And Sweetachson, I've heard tonnes of good stuff about Kubrick's ACO, but never gotten around to seeing it. I'll have to, now.

Glad to have you back DE!

Hope your holiday (and whats left of it) was enjoyable.

Nope, ran out of time, sorry peeps! I'll be back on monday. I'm in +10GMT, fyi. :)

I think I'm happy to just wait for the next one of you who is able to play.

OK, kind of a bump. Based on the last few posts, either Sweet or Dwaarf should be available to take the next set. If either could confirm, that'd be great. If I don't hear from either by tomorrow (about 16 hours from now) I'll just play the next set to keep things moving and we can reshuffle the roster if necessary.

OK, I'm back, but won't be able to play for at least ... 10/11 hrs, so if you can and want to play before that, go for it.
