Can't anyone comment on my idea?

I see what you are trying to do, but I would do it in such a way where different rulers of different Italian city-states chose how to "use" Da Vinci. Here is how I would do the event.

*The Renaissance Man
Req: Machinery, Perspective, 50 Gold in reserve
Obsolete: Cloning (Just need an ending point, your reason is works for it)
Text: A great man of many talents and a great reputation is seeking employment. It would be wise to hire this man to improve our empire, lest history think less of us.
Option 1: Commission this man to create a great work of art. His previous works show great knowledge of perspective and realism.
(Result: -50 Gold, One free Great Artist specialist in city)
Option 2: Commission this man to create blueprints of groundbreaking machines. He has designed a steam cannon and a horseless carriage, who knows what else he can design, even if we do not have the means to construct it.
(Result: -50 Gold, One free Great Engineer specialist in city)
 
O.O Wow. That's a greatly simplified version of my event. Bit too simple for my tastes. Could you make the texts a little more interesting? They don't exactly convey the message that you have to choose between culture and productivity. Plus, I think your version needs a little more power behind it. Not too much mind you, but I like that you get my idea.

I improved the text. I was planning on a third choice of "Send him to a noble family who is looking for someone to design a party" since Da Vinci's talent was used in such a way, but I could not figure out a good way to word it. I also excluded it for the direct choice between art and productivity. I also improved the free specialist since I think you were right about it being underpowered, however, the event granting a GP would likely be too powerful.

The whole historical realm of Renaissance Italy is missing from RoM (other than the Sistine Chapel and a few GP names of course), which is why I suggested the House War event and I like this one.

I think our events are starting to diverge, General. My event is based on 3 sides dealing with one issue: trying to determine the path that the nation takes, a cultural path, a productive path, or neither. Yours on the other hand, is about 1 man, a "renaissance man" as you have dubbed him trying to find his path in what could be just about any of the different great specialists. I think you should expand on yours by allowing for more of those great specialists.

Anyway, I think you may be right. I'll get rid of the free Great Artist from my cultural side. That might balance it more evenly.

EDIT: Actually, I have a new thought. What do you think about 1 basic artist in every city instead of the free Great Artist?

I have no problem with the marriage part.

Option 1 Text: It is just a flu, it will eventually fade. Our population is strong and resilient.

Option 1 Effects: -3 population in city; +3 unhappiness in that city for 20 turns; +1 unhappiness in all cities; 70% chance to -2 population in 3 nearby cities.

Option 2 Text: This virus might be dangerous. Quarantine the entire city and stop the virus spread.
Option 2 Requirements: Spend 150 gold; At least 1 military units on that city. [Cities with Commercial Airport building pay 350 to quarantine].
Option 2 Effects: 1 military unit is busy for 2 turns; -2 population in city; +1 unhappiness for 10 turns. 20% chance to -1 population in 2 nearby cities.

Option 3 Text: This virus is a menace to the future of our great nation! Quarentine the entire city, control the entrance in nearby cities. Dedicate our best professionals to solve this plague!
Option 3 Requirements: Spend 550 gold; Hospital built in that city.
Option 3 Effects: -1 population; +2 happiness in that city for 20 turns; +1 happiness in all cities for 10 turns. Hospital gives +1 happiness, +1 health

Prerequisite Techs: Nationalism
Obsolete Techs: None
Other Requirements: +1 unhappiness for at least 5 turns in sequence; at least 10% of external civ influence; City must be size 8+
Main Body Text: "The national sentiment of our population in CITY NAME is growing madly. They are attacking local citizens of CIV NAME, destroying their ghettos and pillaging their commerce!"

Option 1 Text: People's voice is God's Voice! Let them crush these filthy foreigners.
Option 1 Requirements: Nationalist, Fascist or Intolerant civic on. Your civ culture influence must be 51% or more in that city.
Option 1 Effects: 3 Random Buildings are destroyed; +30% culture Influence in that city; -2 population; +1 happiness in that city for 10 turns; -2 Relations with that CIV leader.

Option 2 Text: Play low and act as nothing is happening. People will eventually forget.
Option 2 Requirements: Your civ culture influence must be 51% or more in that city.
Option 2 Effects: 1 Random Building is destroyed; +10% culture Influence in that city; -1 population; -1 Relations with that CIV.

Option 3 Text: That is a shame! Let's publicly condemn the attacks. Tolerance is the base of evolution.
Option 3 Requirements: Spend 100 gold. Your civ culture influence must be 51% or more in that city.
Option 3 Effects: +5% Culture in that city; +5% Foreign Influence in that city; +2 happiness in that city for 10 turns; +1 happiness in all cities for 10 turns. +1 relation bonus with that CIV leader.

Option 3 Text: That horrible! Let's do a national campaign about tolerance and respect! This attitude is not compatible with the higher values we praise!
Option 3 Requirements: Pacifist civic on. City Jail built. Spend 340 gold. Your civ culture influence must be 51% or more in that city.
Option 3 Effects: +15% Culture in that city; +10% Foreign CIV Influence in that city; +4 happiness in that city for 20 turns; +2 happiness in all cities for 20 turns. +2 relation bonus with that CIV leader.
