Gah!!! It's entirely impossible to concentrate on studying when you have the hiccups. Curse them for haunting me all day!

Take a deep breath and hold it in your lungs (not your face).

How often do you know someone well enough to know that they have a significant other, and want to inquire how they are doing, but don't know their orientation or marital status?

if i said that not being sure of orientation has happened multiple times, and also marital status less, but it has happened.

an example:

a girl i know was dating someone named "alex". i knew it was dating, because i had been told that. however, i hadn't seen her in a few years, met up with her, asked how her boyfriend was, turned out alex was short for alexandra.

oops.

so yes, it does happen.

i'm so ticked off i worked my ass of yesterday and nothing was due today. Time that could have been spent going outside while it was still nice.

In that case, "how's Alex?" would work just as well as "how's your boyfriend?"

Just sayin' . . .

Cutlass gave me the answer, but no one can solve this stupid problem of mine. x_x

It's insane. My engineer dad has yet to come up with an answer. My engineer grandfather has been working on it the past 30 minutes. One of my best friends who is a math genius, seems to have come up with the wrong answer.

I hate math. xD
Oh, how I hate math.

 i have dyslexia. a doctor that evaluates learning disabilities told me i have no chance of ever learning math or foreign languages.

Man I wish I had that excuse!

I was playing Spore quite happily yesterday. Not hard, and allowing my brain to basically freeze over. All of a sudden, game crashes, and I have to restart the computer. Fair enough; I was invading another planet, and there were lots of explosions, bombs, lasers, etc. on screen.

However, my computer went to the BSoD, where it was nice enough to make some changes to Spore's files. Woe and behold, the game won't work anymore. So I went to the official forums and asked for help. Still haven't got a reply (fair enough; I wasn't too specific on what happened, and I'm not too flash with giving BSoD details as I have no idea where, or if, reports of what changes are made are kept).

This morning I decided to reinstall the game (backing up files). STILL doesn't work, even if I don't use the back-up files! Furthermore, I'm sick to death of EA's automatic downloader asking me if I want to download "THE SIMS 2 STORE ONLINE" on to my computer! I swear one of the problems of getting Spore to work is that every time it starts up, THIS COMES UP, crashing the game! I emailed tech support about this three weeks ago, found out I'd get a reply 24 hours later, and I *STILL* haven't got one. So now, I'm going to be nice and email tech support again, remind them of their generosity of not telling me how to get rid of this STORE ONLINE and how I don't have the faintest idea how to get Spore to work.

Oh, and I'm furious because their Customer Service site is appalling. Lots of lag, slow, crashes a lot... I'm almost ready to drop it and just go out to buy Colonization, which I was going to get AFTER the first patch.

On the bright side, it makes me want to rant about it, meaning that I might stop lurking and might start having a voice on forums. :mischief:

Ironic that this happens with each game I buy... Morrowind crashed every 30 minutes, Oblivion blew two video cards and kept on crashing (eventually to the point where I gave it up), Civ IV... I *THINK* I had an issue with, but I can't remember what it was, Internet Explorer is insane in that it 'jerks' when I try to open favourites (I have to constantly minimise and maximise IE in order to solve this), Sid Meier's Pirates! eventually got to the stage where it'd just crash, as did Simcity 4 (due to my computer going mad during a disc fragmentation, and deciding that instead of just deleting bad files it'd also delete needed files; I think it might have touched IE a bit, as that'd explain why it's senile)...

I'm feeling pretty down today. I think I've somehow alienated a lot of my friends and nobody seems to want to talk to me. I've accomplished a lot of really great things for myself lately but it seems to be coming at the cost of friendship. :(

Been feeling the same way. I'm always known as a real quiet guy, don't say much to anyone, never feel like I have anything to talk about. Makes me wonder if anyone who might've cared in the past has moved on or given up on me.

Oh well, at least you've accomplished great things lately, so there's that for you. More than I can say.

And I sold one of our cars at around the same time for significantly less than I was asking. At least it wasn't worth much to begin with, and I managed to sell it for the same price we bought it. Still, there was an $80 repair I had recently had done to it, so the lost profit hurt a little. My wife was most decidedly NOT a happy camper last night.

How long did you have it for?

I'd be thrilled if I could sell my car for the same number I bought it for, even with some silly $80 work out of my pocket.

Its okay, I've been doing the exact opposite.

Although somehow I've still managed to screw things up with a certain person. Man, I thought I was done with the emotional baggage.

Dude, get a new computer. ;)

There is an area on the middle portion on my back that hurts like hell, as if it is constantly burning. This has happened since yesterday. This makes no sense, and it hurts me so much. :(

Overslept and missed by geology class

You'd think its not a big deal, but I've still gotta go down to campus to do a lab. Epic waste of my time to go down there for just 45 minutes. Maybe I'll have to take my ECON test early or something.

We had only had it since November or December of last year; bought off a friend of my wife's so she could finally learn to drive perhaps. But we'd wait until after winter. Winter comes and doesn't really end until late May or so. By which time we were house-hunting and my wife was so focused on housing-related issues that she couldn't concentrate on studying for her learner's permit. And now that the dust has settled and we've got a house, we live about 1/2 mile from work and have no need for a second car, as we can both walk or ride bicycles. Of course, all this is another rant entirely.

But when you're dealing with a car this old (an '89 Nissan Sentra), prices can get very subjective, even arbitrary. We had been sold the vehicle undervalued, so we tried to get a little more than we paid; basically what we thought the vehicle was really worth. In the end, as I said, we sold it for what we had paid.

Well I always have plenty to say, but not much listening going on. :shifty:

You mean you've been great with friends but haven't done anything else?

Living right next to an air force* base is not fun. So many of the friends I've just made are being assigned to move to places like Texas and Nebraska and gah!! This isn't fair. :( I'm going to miss Jared and Miles. Especially Jared.
