Random Rants Two

I just found out that Robert Jordan, one of my favorite authors, died this afternoon. I knew he was sick, but I thought he was getting better. :(

The thing is, he's the third fantasy writer whose work I liked who has died this year alone. (The other ones I wasn't into as much anymore: Lloyd Alexander and Madeline L'Engle) It's like a curse - almost all the writers who write stuff that I like are already dead, or dying off!

The way this year is going, Orson Scott Card will probably get hit by a bus on Christmas Eve and Harry Turtledove will die of pneumonia on New Years. Seriously, this year pretty much sucks where good authors are concerned.

And I was having such a good day, since it finally started to cool down after it being so miserably hot. :(

I'm too nice.

Aside from getting that line a few times too many (yet they complain about their sonofa boyfriends still...), I have had no rants about me (see sig).

Clearly I need to work on wronging people occasionally.

I want to know what moron is in charge of the Baltimore road system, and decided it would be a good idea to take N. Charles Street and have it go from two lanes in each direction down to one lane in each direction for about five feet, whilst shoving both lanes of traffic into one direction's side of the road, and right next to an intersection AND a turn, no less. Really, take a long walk off a short dock.

This literally just happened: people who ask you a question and interrupt you in the process of answering it. I get a call, someone asking where my company is located and if it is near a metro stop:

Me: okay, it is about a mile down the road from the-
them: okay, but which metro stop?

I just heard about Robert Jordan too. :(

Apparently he told his wife what to write and she will write the last book of the series.

*Swedishguy blushes, since he realizes that he does it from time to time*

when working with people you expect a certain amount of technical savvy.
especially in the IT biz.

The traffic in Bath is horrendous. We moved 1 mile in 45 minutes, and we weren't even anywhere near the city centre. And all the buildings are coloured dismal brown.

Ummm... Communism,
It's still there...

Vietnam fell,
Which is what the Vietnamese people wanted, so what's the problem? We did our number there and were gone by '75.

Rock music was at it's height,

Perhaps the most compelling reason FOR staying!

CFC hadn't been invented yet... the list keeps on going...

Neither had the houshold computer. They were good times, simpler times. But better.

From Wiki:

Events of 1975

January

* January 1 - Watergate scandal: John N. Mitchell, H. R. Haldeman and John Ehrlichman are found guilty of the Watergate cover-up.

Cheezy is condoning government corruption? But that's still around today, I guess.

* January 1 - Work is abandoned on the British end of the Channel Tunnel.

What a waste. 1975 looks like a year of disappointment.

* January 2 - The Federal Rules of Evidence are approved by the United States Congress.

Getting better...

* January 5 - The bulk ore carrier MV Lake Illawarra strikes the Tasman Bridge in Tasmania, Australia, killing 12.

Oh no, how tragic! And Cheezy the Wiz wants it to happen ALL OVER AGAIN! But at least nothing worse can follow...

* January 6 - "Wheel of Fortune" premiers on NBC.

AAAAGH! AAAAGH! AAAAAAAAGH! :suicide:

Ah-ah, the crime was already committed, they were just found guilty of it then.

I should think you'd be happy about delaying your ground-connection with the French.

Getting better...

That's what she said.

I can still watch The Price is Right, though!

The lady at the campus health center was basically being the b-word to me today, and via e-mail. Last semester I was having blackouts while running, and so everyone was very worried, but I was eventually diagnosed with asthma. I ran the ENTIRE summer without any blackout episodes due to taking my medicine and my inhaler use.

When I come here to school for pre-season, I ran fine on the first day which was 7 miles at 87% of max heart rate. Anyways, two days later we do a 14 mile run in the Blue Ridge Parkway mountains.

First of all, it was hot that day. The hills were incredibly huge, and we were at an elevation that is greater than 0ft. sealevel on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. All factors that would logically make running a bit difficult, more than normal. On top of that, I didn't stop to get water until mile #10, so clearly I was a bit dehydrated. I ended up getting sent to the hospital.

Then I had another similar episode a few days later on 7 mile run at 87% of max heart rate. I was dehydrated cause it was literally hot as crap that day and the dust from the gravel roads didn't make breathing any easier, plus it parched my mouth and throat beyond belief. My third and final episode this semester was due to forgetting to take my inhaler, and it was very, very hot.

Now the damn health center isn't allowing me to run with the team because I've become a liability, they do not trust that I am responsible enough, and they somehow think I may have a heart problem that needs to be checked out.

It is patently clear that the recent episodes this semester were not due to heart problems.

But anyway the lady was incredibly rude because as soon as I walked into her office she essentially began insulting my intelligence by asking me if I was capable of remembering to follow up with appointments, and such, and if I had trouble listening, etc. That pissed me off completely. If you know me, I'm one of the nicest guys on campus and I can get along with anyone. Even if I think you're a complete . .. .. .. .. .. .. . I'll spare you the reality check. But this lady "pushed my last button". I was rolling my eyes, and I was just thinking to myself, how the hell am I to take this biotch seriously if she is going to insult me and not be somewhat professional?

So then I expressed my discontent, and basically told her that she was not looking at the big picture, and that everything that has happened points towards dehydration and the one-time lack of inhaler use as the culprits to my episodes. She said she's going to still make me wear the heart monitor during practice and that she is not going to let me run in meets until I do. She was basically insulting me again, implying that I was an irresponsible moron for not having worn it a few months ago when the cardiologist gave it to me.

This only pissed me off more. But to make it worse, she continued by saying she shouldn't have to baby me and watch me take my inhaler every time I run. So I let off my steam by telling her upfront, that she is infact, the irresponsible one. If she is going to withdraw me from running, and even competitions because I'm supposedly being irresonsible according to her, then I have the right to tell her she is being equally irresponsible and moronic for not following up with my progress on current workouts (I haven't ad any episodes after having been moved inside on the treadmill, yet I"m still running at the same intensity).

What a biotch. I'm not letting anyone manipulate me and walk all over me anymore. I'm glad I stood up for myself.
