Alrighty, I have this awesome little scholarship called Bright Futures at 75% right now and I'm going to a community college for 2 years. 75% at a community college means 100% and covers all of my tuition and fees. 100% at a community college means that it covers my tuition, fees, and books.
In high school I was in a program called the Cambridge Program and if I passed 6 tests then I would be eligible for Bright Futures 100%. So, in June I finished taking my last test and a few days ago I was told I received the diploma so I immediately called the Bright Futures place and they said they hadn't received scores yet and they wouldn't receive them until mid/late August....
So then I went into the school to talk to my financial aid advisor. She told me that if I bought my books before the scholarship came in, I wouldn't be reimbursed and that it basically didn't matter that within two weeks I'd have 100% coverage. If I don't have it before school starts, I'm pretty much screwed and I'll have to buy my books and then I'll be seriously ticked off.
And I'm getting pretty sick of having to call people all the time and go into the school to get everything settled. I shouldn't have to pay for anything school-related and I'm sick of having to call everyone and explain and prove that.
And I'm going to lodge some sort of complaint to the people at Cambridge because it's their fault that I'm probably going to end up paying for my stupid books because they aren't sending the scores in before school starts. It's not just affecting me. A lot of students are going through similiar things. The university students who only have 75% and are waiting for scores to register are getting worried because school starts soon and their schools are expecting money for tuition that they don't have. Something needs to be done already.
