So after OR (as I once called him) came back from Las Vegas, I spoke with him about changing the amount of rent we each paid to be more fair. He agreed. Then, he changed his mind. And forgetting that I am on the lease same as him and should have some say in the matter - and that we had reached an agreement - he proceeded to give me several figures (six in total) of the "new" amount I should pay. I decided this was absurd and found a new place. He told me to go ahead and pay half rent, so I did. Then he decided this was insufficient and refused to sign the paper to take me off the lease, because he misunderstood how long I was going to stay in the apartment this month. So the paper is sitting there and I will have to try and convince the apartment manager to take me off without his signature. Meanwhile I suspect I will have to pay him more to get him to forward my mail to my new place. The funny thing being that this would make the second time that I had a roommate retroactively raise the rent after I was on my way out, and just like last time, I am probably going to have to pay because I won't be able to give everyone my new address in time.

(And of course all my friends are quick to suggest that I find a more . . . permanent roommate.)

From the look of things, you type from the back side with your left hand.

A local tree removal company is hacking trees apart left and right. They're allegedly doing this to prevent trees from falling into power lines during storms, but they seem to be simply taking out as much greenery as they possibly can, regardless of whether there is any risk or not (A good number of these trees did not reach up to the level of nearby power lines). They just whip out their chainsaws, lop off the limbs and leave behind these huge wooden obelisks. Maybe they get around to cutting these down a week later, but I guess first they have to leave them up to get diseased so they can cut down more trees later. Try to say anything, and all you get is an arrogant shrug and "you'll thank us when the power doesn't go out later." For Chrissakes, I've seen numerous power outages since I moved here due to squirrels climbing into transformers, but maybe only one due to downed trees. And what if one of those utility poles cracks on its own? What the hell good would it do to cut down all those trees?

This city is gray and lifeless enough as it is.

I hate university bureaucracy. None of them know what the other department is doing. I mean why does on person say they have my transcript and then the academic planning and advising say they haven't seen it yet? Shouldn't it be readily available on their system? Because it sure as hell shows that they've received it on my online thing. So I need to go to the university and confirm, and yes they do indeed have it, they just haven't updated it.
