my girlfriend is sick

Wow. I guess I can give people my disease over the internet. My rant: I am still sick. I have some form of strep throat, not sure which.

When you're WEEKS away from turning 21, you feel like a young old man. For sure.

I have a car, a resume to submit to the ODNI, various other worries, but I cant buy a godamn beer or go to the bar. And Canada is too far away.:(

I talk to older women until we realize our ages. It blows.

Just find someone old enough to buy you alcohol it's the CFC way!:goodjob:

I have no trouble in that department, its just very inconvenient. Plus, like I said, I cant go to a bar.

Step 1: go to bar
Step 2: have someone buy you drink from bar
Step 3: finish drink, go to bar yourself and exchange it. you are never IDed once you've STARTED drinking. This has worked for me on both sides of the border, and I doubt its changed recently.

I answered the phone to a woman in Belgium in French. She continued in French so I kept going. I haven't spoken French in 2 years - talking about accounting in a foreign language is difficult and I am going to have to continue doing it now.

Damn it, snow's melted. Why, almighty weather gods? Why do you mock us so?

I just found out the competition for a study abroad year is based mostly on exam results. I may be screwed. I really wanted to go to Turkey :(

Can't go to France either because they expect me to do at least one course in French. Damn French.

Although there was only about 20 people interested and theres 10 places. Better odds than I expected.

I don't get it either. Why would anyone not want the chance to get out into the world? Especially now when you can't get jobs anywhere.

Reminds me of when I was in Cuba I had no Spanish, and we were looking for a place to stay. We found a place but had to talk to the owner - he was pissed off with our lack of anything but English so he started going through the languages 'til we said we knew one. When he said "Francais" my Leaving Cert French kicked in and I said "un peu". Unfortunately that was about the extent of my knowledge and I had to bluff French everytime I talked to him.

Outrageous about the first point,

And honestly, other then a short visit to Rome, i wouldn't want to go anywhere.

Yeah damn French. Apparently Sciences-Po is all famous and stuff and they want to keep it famous for being French too.

I really don't get why you wouldn't want to see as much of the world as possible though. I guess it comes back to the argument I made in the marijuana thread about trying new things when you get the chance - and putting yourself in a position to try new things when you can.
