Are they split up in to two years - AS and A2 in America?

Well, A-levels aren't very common here; we have APs and IB instead. Ansar talks about them all the time, but I've never heard of them off this site, except when colleges were discussing international students. It might be a regional thing, or it could just be that they're very new here.

Yep. AS in Junior year (second to last year of high school) and A2/A-level in Senior year (last year of high school).

How many A-levels did you take, chris?

It's only offered in Florida, as far as I know, because University of Florida did some study on it vs. AP/IB.

6 ASs, and I'm doing 5 A2s now.

Most people do 2 or 3 A Levels in England.

6 ASs (and one AS/A2, since the Economics teacher thinks he can cover all AS and A2 material in one year), so 7ASs for me this year. Next year it's like 6 A2s :cringe:.

Only 2 or 3? Is that the type that gets into top schools in England like Cambridge or Oxford? :dubious:

I have heard that is is usual to take 4 A-level courses, with the option to de-continue with one at the end of the first year.

Yeah, that's what it's like at my school.

Oxbridge normally wants 3 As at full A Level.

I met somebody today who i genuinely enjoy spending time with. always a good thing.

i also ran into (in both senses of the word) someone who i hadn't seen in ages, so we went for lunch and caught up.

I started classes as a freshman yesterday and Tufts is freakin' awsome

I've been spitting green $41t all day, and coughing like crazy.

Why is this in the Random Raves? Well, I don't feel anything blocking my breathing any more, and combined with the coughing and the gross things I'm eliminating this way, it means my pneumonia is finally going away. Yay, I feel so free already, I hope it's gone in a few days. It seems those things have been in me for ages, even if I only have this since Saturday. :p

Are you counting General Studies as an A2? If not, then why in god's name would anyone do 5 A-levels???? :dubious:

I got 4 A's at A-level and didn't get into Cambridge. So no :p
