Random Raves Two

I'm unemployed and, for the moment, it's wonderful! (No doubt within a couple of days I'll have gone a little stir crazy- but that too also has it's perks, in a sense)

Also, weeks of tee-totalling haven't affected my capacity to drink heavily as much as I thought it would (yes I woke up this morning feeling absolutely terrible- and I got into a very heated argument about about Eurovision and Flat Tax, to name just two) but the fact of the matter is I survived!

:D Yes! :D The song I'm composing and on which I've been working since 3 months ago (although I've only worked about 1-2 weeks on it if I don't count the huuuuugggeeee breaks) is coming along really nicely, really great actually. :D :D I just have to polish the bridge a bit, add some electric guitar in the part where the solo voice first comes in, then adapt the rest of the theme for the voice and do small changes to the chorus so that it's not always the same, and I'm DONE!!!

:woohoo:

I really LOVE what I managed to achieve with that, especially since it's my first try at a song that's not classical music (it's a combination between symphonic and heavy metal, with classical elements everywhere, only hidden well enough IMHO in a different format song).

It's probably going to be about 8-9 minutes long depending on how much inspiration I get on the lyrics. :D :D :D

Now, to actually record the thing.... that's a different story. Paying a whole orchestra, even for just 2 minutes, is not an easy thing to do. Of course I have the computer generated thing but that's completely useless without an actual orchestra and choir for the introduction and ending. But still, I don't care. If I make something like 7 more songs like that (only probably shorter), I can start looking for people to play this with and for sponsors.

I'd actually really, really like to show the computer generated thing off here or on the Internet in general, but after what happened to one of my best friends after showing an incomplete song, I'm probably not going to take the risk (basically, a famous band around here ripped it off completely, without even bothering to change the key or something, and won hundreds of thousands of euros with it without him having much proof that they ripped it off, considering what he did wasn't finished or published and was anonymously posted on a forum).

But I'm really longing for a non musician's opinion on this, so I don't really know what to do... I'd love to show it to people but I'm kinda afraid right now. Of course, I could take some precautions, but I'm still not sure I'd be able to take any precaution even remotely infailable...

Unbelievable! I just made another theme, possibly better than the one before. More complex, definitely. And that fits with something I was really proud about that I've done months ago. The last song all started with a theme with the harmony behind it... just like this one. I just HAVE to keep my creative abilities up, no matter how, it seems like it's psychological - the more confident I am that I'm gonna make something good, the better it comes out to be!!!

ANOTHER THEME! Yes!!! Maybe even better than my previous one, which was by far the best I've ever done.

I can't believe what I just did. I'm sorry if it comes out as arrogant, but I'm simply expressing my feelings. Keep in mind it might come out to nothing. I'm just so happy with what I've got so far. I'm so happy I feel like filling the room with joy. Actually, not the room, the whole town! YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!! :D

:woohoo:

Get it on youtube as fast as your done!

Doubt it's gonna happen too soon though.... Sorry to disappoint you but I'll first have to have it done (which is probably going to happen in around 1 week if I keep the pace I had in those few days), then look for a drummer which I don't have ATM, then make around 5-6 more songs, look for someone to finance the recording of the whole thing and pay the orchestra and for the recording studio, then I have to wait about 1 month until I will be able to release it on the Internet. It's probably going to be at least 1 year from now, that being a very optimistic prediction.

Yep, that's the disadvantage of anything that contains the word "symphonic" in it - getting someone to pay you a full orchestra is an amazing pain. Especially something as complex as this (32 voices at once is not a piece of cake, you know... a good orchestra takes a lot of money and you have to pay a conductor too...). I don't wish anyone to have to try to find someone like that (to pay for this) and convince him of the quality of what you are doing.

But that's not gonna ruin my optimism - I knew this was going to happen since before I started it!

So today my mom asked me to go out into the garden and pick some mint plants. The thing is, we started them two years ago. Now, they occupy a patch oh...1m in diameter. Anyways, I took the super huge ones (40 cm tall) and plucked 'em out by the roots. Chopped off the roots, put the plants into a container, and brought it into the kitchen. There, I sat and slowly seperated the leaves from the stems. I found one leaf curled up, and lo and behold! there was a spiderweb in the leaf. Of course, I didn't realize what this meant. A few minutes later, I looked into my lap. Hanging right above the...(horrible pun, though unintentional) fly of my pants was the spider which had formerly occupied the leaf.

Pretty creepy, really. I shot back about 3 meters. I wasn't scared so much as shocked. Of course, I ended up killing the spider. Brr...still kinda creepy.

Just heard an ad campaign for some senator. If I see it again, I'll let you know who, as I wasn't really paying attention, until I noticed this:

The music for the commercial was from Medal of Honor! That game was awesome...

Yeah, that's a rave.

Mayor elections around here.

Yesterday I saw 8 topless girls dancing in something tied to a truck and shouting the name of a candidate. Man, that could NEVER happen in America. I love the continent I live on! :p

Oh and the girls were pretty good too...

Hurrah! Took my car in for a 6000 mile service. Wanted to check the brakes too but I guess Les Schwab forgot to return the tire key to me when they change that flat. Need to find the key and just use ordinary nuts next time. But they saw the front brakes and it was down to 80% so they're okay but the brake fluid is dark so I need to change that out. They also noticed a little bit of oil seepage but me and they didn't think it was anything serious as I only had to top off the oil twice in a year and I didn't even use the whole quart bottle. Other than those things, the car is good!

Now I need to find a place that wants to get rid of its vegetable oil without paying the disposal fee, a diesel automobile and a converter kit and I should be swell!

I've been lounging round the house all week, and though in essence I've left my job, thanks to Paid Annual Leave, I still got paid- for just sitting around doing nothing! What a life

Though having said that, the gravy train is starting to derail now...

Im leaving for Europe in 2 days!!

Im leaving for Europe in 2 days!!

Can you postpone this outing? I can't get a flight out of Europe until the 3rd June.

I for one am getting sick and tired of everything and wish I could just get my damn tests over with and that it was summer.

I like frisbees!

I concur .

THis is an honest to God rave out to my parents. Fitting between Mother's and Father's day. They spanked me when I needed it, love me unconditionally, taught me how to fit into society, and I could just go on and on. A particular thread in here has made me think of them and really just give them a hats off for raising me right.
