random rebooting

Yesterday I forgot Igloos warning about zonealarm 6 and installed it. Also, within a few minutes of that, Windows automatic update told me there were updates to install. I did. Ever since then I keep rebooting randomly when I click on links online. No rebooting when using the computer offline. I tried disabling zonealarm and windows update and a few other things but so far nothings worked. Im hoping someone might have something I could try so I can avboid using the 'nuclear option': the VAIO recovery wizard, which formats the computer. My drive isnt partitioned, so Id lose everything. I dont have enough cd's to back everything up. Any ideas?

Lets see if 'submitting' makes me reboot (crosses fingers)

Can you rollback to before the update? System restore, or whatever it's called?

No, system restore is disabled. I can be online and do stuff, just not with a browser. Whether I use IE or Firefox, I randomly reboot after clicking on links. BTW, I just partioned with Partion Magic, it assigned a drive letter, said everything was fine, but theres no new partition, everythings the same. I hate computers

Well, you can always get another firewall. snapfiles should have some free ones. Just do a search for it.

And yes, I can see how that would be futile.

So is it ZA6, or WinUpdate, or both?

Could be either or both, dunno. I'll try completely uninstalling ZA (its just disabled), but I doubt it'll make any difference. Since it only happens when using a browser that should narrow it down a little, but doesnt help me much.

Everybody can put away the massage oils, I finally gave up and used the nuclear option. Now I have to reinstall everything
