Rat16 - warmongers go immortal

acid, are you playing 10 turns or was that just a joke. It would be nice to have you back in the team to finish this

naw, no joke (?)
i'll play this tommorow, too busy today,
i don't think we'r in rush here anyway

To be true I do not undestand purpouse of war with France.

France is weekest civ. The only purpouse to war the weekest civ is to increase one theretory, get access to new resources or extorsion.
But you seems to raise cities you have taken, so I am lost why waster your military on cities you do not intend to keep?

First impressions about our position (it’s been a while since I played this):
- What’s the point of war with France?
- extremely poor infrastructure
- Extremely poor great people generation even though we are philosophical.

That said,

0th turn
---------
Ask fur for free from Cyrus, he agrees. This allows more growth and we can assign one more scientist in York. Most of cities managed for quicker growth. Assign scientist and engineer in Hastings. Ask for 2gpt for free from Egypt. Trade Chemistry and 660 gold for Printing Press and World map with Egypt. Not sure if this will slow down Khan. Beg 80 from Alex. Give him paper in order to stop trading with Khan. Steel in 7.

1st
---------
move units toward Paris. Give rice to Khan for 10gpt.

2nd
---------
move some more, next to Paris. Barracks (?) done in Tours, start Granary. Steel can be done in 4.

3rd
---------
Roosevelt adopts Emancipation.
We get GE in York. I was hoping for GS.
Grenadier done in Olmec, start library.
Susa’s borders expand but not far enough so we should’ve left that French city imo.
I don’t know why are we building musket in Rheims? Switch to Granary. Strip down Paris culture defenses.

4th
----------
Take out Paris, keep it. Start University in capital.

5th
-----------

Roosevelts GA begins. (Taj Mahal) El-Almarna captured by Kahn. Whip court in Canterbury.

6th
------------
Steel in, trade to Roosevelt for R. parts and 400. Start Steam (30!). GE can give us Iron working but can also give us 1700+ beakers for Steam power.

7th
------------
zzzz

Cyrus doesn’t want to trade anything yet.

8th
------------
I switched to Buddhism in order to try to get Curys pleased and trade something with us.

9th
-------------
And he does, no less than rifling. We get Rifling for Steel and 120.
Wer at +9 now if we ever get to 10 we are friendly (and we will since its only +2 from sharing a religion) and should be able to trade anything with him. If we can get ahead of Khan with military tech we should declare, which is the whole point, imo since wer weakest and his furious and hell attack us anyway. Battling with any other civ is useless I think.
Beg 120 from Roosevelt and he gives.

10th
-------------
give Cyrus gold for silk. Get 70 from Alex (haha)
i didn’t move units

Agree on Khan being the target.

I also agree our Infra was pretty terrible. I was hoping we could improve that before the next war on Khan. Hopefully you made some progress.

We had a whole bunch of useless musket builds going on at the point I played. I must have missed one and left it in the queue. I actually rarely build muskets myself since Grens come so soon after and are superior. Someone liked them though.

The only nice thing about the lack of Great people is that they will be much cheaper to get some now to help us out.

BTW, I have forgotten if we can get a domination victory or whether the war mongers has to be conquest win only.

nice turns acid, you still didn't forget how to play. I haven't touched CIV in at least 1 month. Hope I still know what to do...

got it, hope we can go after Khan maybe with some turns of preparation

I went back all the way to check Rat 09 and found that the warmonger series required a conquest win . This will be one toughy

save

MM a little and look for the GE, where has it gone to?
use it for steam, maybe we can get that and get ahead in techs
327 turns to go???
will try and even that out

Paris came online, I whipped a court and theatre there
got economics from Egypt and revolted to free market
I played until we got steam, unfortunately 2 other had it as well

I let cities grow, we can now go for military and try and beat Khan with cannons and redcoats
I gave marble (no use) to Cyrus for 7gpt and coal

we got steam and have 3 sources of coal ourselves
we can get nationalism from Hatty for steam, she is friendly now

I would set research to RR as nobody has that yet, though it will take ages

Can we bribe Roosevelt to go after Alex (and so brake defensive pact? And when he take most of his units out of his cities we, you know...backstab him properly?

acid, your idea sounds good. I tried several times to get some cash from Roosevelt, but without success. We can run science at 70% now at even cash flow, but it is very slow

Ok, I played to 1655 to even out the number of turns.

Worked a bit more on infrastructure.

Cyrus beat us to RR. No trade there. Rosevelt still doesn't have it though.

I put York on Globe Theatre and put units in it to support size 10. When we can rush Globe for 5 citizens I think we should do so and then start rushing units. It seems an excellent spot to rush units to me. Two turns after it grows we should switch to max shields and specialists (no more growth) until we can rush globe.

We got our first Redcoats. I did not declare war, I felt we needed more redcoats. We also need to decide who to fight. Unless we get very lucky with Rosevelt, we won't have a tech to trade and would need to stop research to buy the war with cash. That would slow our tech even more.

The other option is to grab Khan's lands. I think I prefer this option. Lets get stronger before taking on the two leaders. Grab and keep all of Khan's cities would help with this.

Maybe we can think of declaring war after the next red coats complete?

Alternatively, we can switch the infra builds to cannon. Not sure what is better really. I did feel continuing to get RR best though.

The really ironic thing about this game is that if we could go for a diplo victory, I would be feeling decent about this game. Two civs are friendly and one is pleased with us. We are playing for conquest and every one loves us. La la la.

Here is a picture of the world:

I agree with attacking Khan first.
The Globe Theatre is an excellent idea as that city is very good for whipping units.

Till, did you relaize that you are up :bump:

Save
Turn 0:
Beg 2gpt from Alex.
Whip courthouse in Samarqand. It is at happiness max and already has +1 yearning for motherland. If we go to war with Khan, unhappiness will further increase, so might as well trim down the population a bit.

Turn 1&2:
Assemble troops.

Turn 3:
Rose wants us to cancel all deals with the Greeks. No.
He is theoretically willing to part with Military Tradition.

Turn 5:
Alex demands that we cancel deals with Persia... Looks like he is in for trouble from the superpowers.

Turn 6:
Hati would agree to a defensive pact. Something to keep in mind and clearly a sign on how popular we are...

Turn 7:
Red coats finish and i start construction of the Ironworks in Hastings.

I'll stop here, as we are about ready to declare war on Khan. (And i'm running out of time)
