I think we were never really in danger here. But a good learning experience for others I hope. I guess, since there isn't really sufficient interest to have more games, we let it rest for a while.
Empire games vary greatly in difficulty mostly based on the start. This one was also on the easier side because we were able to deal with a single enemy early to form a single front. This is often the key to winning these games. The only game that wasn't true was an absolutely miserable start with no resources or water. Someday I may go back and play that game - I think a strong offense at the start to push to the resources would work.
That game is the first of Handy's games if you are curious: Handy01
That was fun, I enjoyed this SG very much. When you want to do more of this type, I will sign on. I have learned alot, but I still have much more to learn. I notice our bunch wasn't as chatty, much more business like. Just think, we finished an entire Succession Game with only 164 posts, thats like some kind of record
Well if we get enough interest, I am up for another. Any lurkers - feel free to post if you are interested - even if you don't know how but want to learn.
Or even post if you would like to play, but after game x finishes. We can reconsider then.
Greebley,

I hope you have the 4000bc as it is no longer at the link.
lurker's comment: i'd be interested in joining a AWE game. unfortunatly, sticking to a 24/48 schedule would be difficult, theres a good chance i would need to swap or forfait some turnsets.
I have played games with 24/96 hours to play that have worked well enough if 48 is too small. One often plays only 5 turns (I know I have) when the warfare gets intense.
I wouldn't mind trying a random civ and see what we get if the rest of you feel up for it. My favorite is continents because I like the challenge of trying to land on the other continent and take it over.
continents sounds fine to me. with most of the lineup more then qualified for a AWE, random civ should be fine too.
if you welcome a slower game 24/96 is ok for me, but we can try 24/48. just wanted to warn you in advance, that theres a good chance i'll occasionally need a swap or extension to complete my turnset.
Its a good chance to practice starting an AWE game. I suggest 30 turns as 20 doesn't always give you enough opportunity to see if the game is viable. Sometimes you die early with nothing you can do.
I like a random civ on continents, just make sure you turn culturally linked off, so we don't see all the American tribes. I think a 24/96 or a 48/72 works best, so the "weekend warriors" can participate. I am game for another one.
I'd be interested in joining the next game. It would be my first SG, but I lurked this thread and understood most of the constructive criticism, strategy, etc.
