By the way, I will be going for a retreat to the Malaysian jungle and won't be around until saturday evening. Once Greebley has played his turns, Tad could take the save and play, I will then continue from there.
 
Preturn: I do a bunch of MM. Some clowns can be scientists. Also tend to go for 2 scientists over 2 clowns. Switch around squares to get our capitol to 20 shields for Cav. Switch some builds. Some more settlers for example. Astronomy in 2 at -24 gpt when done.

IBT: A Musket is attacked and becomes Elite.

860 AD: Get a leader for another Cav Army. Kill nearby units.

870 AD: More units killed. Attack Rotterdam. Lost an Elite Sword to a Longbow.

IBT: No attacks.

880 AD: Capture Novosibirsk from Russia moving our front line forward.

IBT: Lose a Pike to a Conquistador.

890 AD: Capture Ereen(340 gold) and attack Rotterdam.

900 AD: Capture Cincinnati & get a Leader Cincinnati allows us to build an Army.

910 AD: Yet another Leader. It moves back toward our towns. Not sure if I will use it to build an army or not. I might disband a MDI Army for a Cav one - other choices are wait for more towns or build a university. Capture Rotterdam which has a Lux and will be great if we can connect it/keep it we have more lux than them too. Attack Tatu.

IBT: One of our Armies does terrible vs 2 conquistadors and loses (an MDI army) in Cincinatti. Solves the Leader problem above I guess. I would have preferred to get the 100 shields from a disband though.

920 AD: Mongol Cavalry Spotted.

930 AD: Moving against Dutch. Attacked Tatu but too injured to continue - need to heal. Too many troops to attack other Mongol town.

940 AD: Delft Captured.

950 AD: Still dealing with enemy units. Final Army has 4 units.

Notes:
Mongols are still the strongest despite us going for their cities.


We should be able to deal with the Dutch soon.
 
ok guys ill playtomorrow or maybe some tonight... give me some tips on what builds we need... like more cannons or more cavalry :)

I would say Cavalry. The cannon aren't really being used that much we are able to kill things before they reach the lines. Muskets are also useful - they are needed for all cities within 6 of the front, so I would keep building them despite them being annoyingly expensive.

We got a new resource - be careful about it being cut off as that will cause riots. The front is not yet stable mostly it is held by armies. Markets are finally useful and we have none. They are only 1 happiness now - if we get another resource I would start considering them (I was running at a full deficit to get to rails). Libs would be useful and an 'extra' leader could rush a university in the capitol (i.e. if we can't make an army which is more useful of course).

Remember Mongol Cavalry - they can kill units when you are not expecting them. Walls in the front cities will at least give muskets even odds vs them.

As for strategy, I would grab the Dutch cities and go for the Mongols. The Dutch cities are keepers - they have low culture and we can expand our empire quickly for more science and armies. The Mongols we want to maximize damage to them so razing with Armies seems best. The final civ we want to get is Spain to end the Conquistador threat, but we don't see their cities yet so we just have to live with them for now.

Remember to be careful with workers near the front and keep towns guarded. It is so easy to lose something to those annoying Conquistadors. Pikes are not sufficient.
 
Tad, in order for us to analyze, you should post your log...don't expect everyone to open the save and check things :nono: ;)
 
im only at turn 5 so yeah its taking a while to play the turns are starting to get pretty long
 
just play your turns carefully and it should be ok...don't worry. Post after 5 or 10 turns (whichever amount you think you can finish) and then we will have a look...

IBT- Many enemy units aproach us.

Turn 1- Kill rConq. with a elite* MI, kill 5 dutch swiss mercenarys in Amsterdam & take it! but the cav army was pretty badly damaged. Bomb the crap out of 4 american knights near our salt mines. Army takes Harlem with minimal damage & also kill 3 mongol cavalry! Our army is in position to raze Tver'

IBT- Sword army kills a reg american knight on defence :)

Turn 2- Cav army razes Tver' & gets 5 slaves
Tadke lauersoog from the dutch.
Destroy Uliastauy (mongol) for 299 gold :)
Pillage Ta-tu & see spanish borders.
attack 2 diff cities but dont capture/raze them :(

IBT- Nothing much happens but we have no attacks on us yet :)

Turn 3- With the army we take Dver from the dutch & their only suply of horses... with a rider army :) they have 2 more cities as I checked with the cities option on the contacts. (we can do that right?)

IBT- some conqs move around not fun :p

Turn 4- move some units... We take th Egyptian city Eypcian or somthing like that but they had ivory which we kept for now :) mothing much some bombardment conqs moving around... its scary.

Turn 5- Opps I actually forgot to record this turn :( but I do remember we razed 2 mongol cities & 2 more egyptian cities :D

IBT- nothing much

Turn 6- Bomb some units, kill units & settle some towns
more bloodshed. also we raze the spanish city Barcelona also was carrying the SoZ :D Also burn The Spanish city of Cincinati & capture 4 Mongol workers :hmm:

IBT- :sleep:

Turn 7- Burn Lagorono (Spanish) by taking out 1 reg spear so easy... & capture 2 more spanish slaves... we have to disband many slaves as there are armys that cannot gaurd them all & expand so I disband some like with the Barcelonian slaves... we cant get the to our land :( it will take to long

IBT-Nothing much russia settles a city near the russian/american/Dutch/egyptian front.

Turn 8- Burn the Russian city for Irkutsk. found Yangchow in the dutch lands.
attack Baltimore & raze it... we get 283 gold, it was gaurded by a cRifle & 1 cav & a reg spear. America Has Rifles & Cavalry :(

IBT- the American knights are healing :( & moving

Turn 9- Burn some more cities settle 2 more cities we have to abandone one of the dutch cities (non important one it was seperated) & the city w/ the ivory as it is surrounded by units & only has 1 army each for defence. I would rather lose the city than the armys

IBT- Nothing much...

Turn 10- More bloodshed as The army the burned Baltimore was so close in sinking its already bloody teeth into the next American city, New Orleans it is covered by 1 more pikeman or maybe some more :( Also we raze 2 mongol cities :D

Hopefully we can get the American saltpeter so that they can't get cavalry any longer. Cavalry is always a concern as they reach so far.

I haven't seen the roster lately, but if I'm up it's a shame because I'm busy tues and wedns

MM a little. I find it scary how we defend our front lines with hardly any units...the enemy has cavalry and can take the towns easily if hey come
out of the fog. We need to change that.

IT lose a musket to a knight after defeating one

1.1060AD
take out 3 units and raze Orleans gaining 430gold from America
defeat a few units at the front and pull army back into Rottingdam to prevent it from being razed by cavalry
reduce science to 0%

IT lose a cav and those conquistadors are scary, really
we get ToG, banking next in 5

2.1070AD
defeat 3 units and raze Mandalgovi
defeat 1 spear and raze a new American city for 280gold

defeat a few more units at the front, which needs to be secured to let us expand again

3.1080AD
4 units taken out and Toledo razed, hope that hurts Spain
take out 2 conquistadors and gain a MGL in the process
defeat 2 rifles and raze an American town for 300gold. both cav armies wounded now

I don't know how I am supposed to defend the eastern part with ex Netherlands when we have hardly any defenders.
We will have to abandon and regroup there

IT well, we lose Yangchow...and more will follow I guess

IT meltdown almost continues as we are lucky not to lose 2 more cities. we need defenders and zonal defense as well
the east looks terrible, the west much better

found Beijing in the north

pull another army back to stabilize the situation
raze Spanish Salamanca

1110AD
continue to reinforce the front and trying to make things stable

IT lose a musket on defense, get banking and we enter the IA
swap to steam that will ake a long long time to research

7.1120AD
take out Valencia and Spain has no horses at the moment
It seems I have reached the northwestern tip and will be able to clear it soon

IT defeat 2 cavs but lose a musket

8.1130AD
steam drops to 12 turns as 2 Civs have it now
raze Buffalo and find that there must be some Island northwest

9.1140AD
raze Murcia, move on to clear the area from the west onwards
defeat incoming units in the east, the area is much safer now

10.1150AD
found Silks in the west so we can get them soon
take out the Russian city next to it and we got out 4th lux

the east is now much more stable and we can expand in the west where 3 Cav armies take out cities
with steam in 9 we should then be able to advance fast

the situation in the northwest, almost all cities cleared there, we should try and settle forward slowly as th AI resettles very quickly as you can see from the mini map
