Pericles/Greece [19] (18+1) The Korea of Culture. They usually run away with it in games, also snagging up a bunch of city states, furthering their substantial culture lead.

Kristina/Sweden [12] (15-3) She very rarely builds up enough units early game to be able to survive other more aggresive AIs, as well as the human player.
Lautaro/Mapuche [16] (15+1) He tends to build up cities quickly enough that he has a solid base to work on, and the bonuses against golden age civs, as well as reducing loyalty in combat victories, make him a leader you do not want to cross.

Saladin/Arabia [13] (12+1) The fact that he might not get to pick from all the beliefs is an *advantage*, not a disadvantage. The fact that he won't take Warrior Monks or Divine Inspiration and will actually take something good is a huge boon to him, and unlike every other AI who gets virtually nothing from spreading their religion, Saladin gets a boost to science.

Kristina/Sweden [9] (12-3) Has no idea how to make use of her theming bonuses, and wastes all her Diplo Favour on pointless motions. As a result, I've never seen her come remotely close to either a Culture or Diplo victory. Also, I've found that she is extremely aggressive in the early eras, which distracts from what should be her main focus (hoarding Great Works) and usually cripples her in the long-run. To top it off, because she values Diplo Favour obscenely highly, its very easy to bankrupt her by trading 30 Favour for all her GPT.

Saladin/Arabia [14] (13+1) Completely agree with whoever posted last about Arabia. AI Saladin is the one exception to the 'Religion cripples the AI' rule. His obsession with Holy Sites means he 'accidentally' stays in the game, because it also powers up his Science. Unless Korea/Kongo/Scotland are in the game, I've found that Saladin is often leading in the Tech tree by the Medieval/Renaissance Eras.

Mvemba a Nzinga/Kongo [21]
Pachacuti/Inca [12]
Pedro/Brazil. [14] (13+1) Rated way too low. He's almost always a powerhouse in both science and culture, and he's more than capable of defending himself as well.
Pericles/Greece [19]
Peter/Russia [11] (14-1) If the AI just took anything but Warrior Monks or Divine Inspiration (rarely, if he actually gets beat to religion), he'd be a powerhouse, but it can't so he isn't. He'll just sit and starve in the tundra with small cities that won't grow and a bunch of GWAMs standing around with nothing to do because he can't build theater squares with his low population. I almost wonder if he wasn't given his Grand Embassy bonus just because Firaxis knew he'd need help staying in the game in AI hands.

Teddy Roosevelt/America [17] (16+1) Always one of the front-runners whenever I see him. Raw strength advantages are easy for the AI to take advantage of and Teddy has it. And then in the late game they're usually quite strong on culture too.
Tomyris/Scythia [9]
Trajan/Rome [17]

Seondeok/Korea [19] (22-3) - before y'all crucify me for downvoting - all too often I see the AI ruining the Seowon's superb, default adjacency by clustering it with the City Center and other districts. "I'll do the one thing that makes no sense at all. Yes, I did a great job there!"

Pedro/Brazil. [16] 15+1=16 - Going to mirror @bengalryan9 with my votes here. Presumably because of the high base yields of jungle tiles combined with his district adjacency bonuses, the only time I recall seeing Pedro struggle was when he spawned 4 tiles away from Teddy. Otherwise, he always seems to be favoured in conflicts, only losing cities to loyalty. Again, all that jungle probably helps. His culture then goes wacko, and he gets Minas Geraes before the other AI know what a frigate is, and he tops the list in science and culture per turn.
Pericles/Greece [19]
Peter/Russia [8] 11-3=8 - Having wide territory mirrors the illusion of a powerful empire, until you realize that all of Peter's cities have 4 or less population and his military consists exclusively of Great Writers. Then you realize that practically his entire territory is unimproved land, whether it's tundra or not. Really, I conquer his cities and NOTHING is improved except resources. It's really weird, because I don't notice that happening with the other AI. Maybe it has something to do with the lower city population on average - perhaps the AI figures "eh, low pop, it's not like we can use all these tiles anyway"? He's not the worst AI, but he often seems to be a lot weaker than he appears at first glance once you start looking at what's going on in his civ (not a whole lot).

Robert the Bruce/Scotland [7] [10-3] Eats up all the early scientists before the reality of not having any meaningful bonuses slaps him in the bagpipes. Love having him in the game (minus the awful soundtrack) since he overpays for luxuries early on when supplemental gold gen is crucial. Too bad that's not the point of this competition.

Tamar/Georgia [14]
Teddy Roosevelt/America [18] [17+1] Teddy effectively makes other AIs have to play the Deity game in terms of combat and typically lose to him hard if on the same continent. Teddy is one of the few AIs that can significantly prolong your culture victory, as his empire is one of the strongest culturally late game.

Jayavarman/Khmer [9] (12-3) A one-trick Religious pony, who doesn't know how to activate his Religious bonuses. Spams Apostles instead of Missionaries, thereby neutering the Prasat's ability. And struggles to place his Holy Sites next to rivers, thereby neutering his Leader bonus. Also, from my experience, he is bizarrely aggressive in the Ancient/Classical Eras. But he doesn't have the units or bonuses to support that aggression: and combined with the fact that he tries to convert everyone, whether they want it or not, this usually means every AI player hates his guts. Often lagging two or three Eras behind me by the end of the game.

Poundmaker/Cree [17] (16+1) Usually seems to do 'above-average' to 'decent'. I imagine it's because his bonuses are quite easy to click into place: 1.) Spams strong early unit (Okihtcitaw), which scares the AI away from attacking him; 2.) as a result, everyone befriends him and he gets to form alliances as intended, 3.) therefore, he reaps in extra gold from trade-routes and starts to turtle; 4.) peaceful snowball increases because he actually builds his Mekewap, one of the best UIs in the game; 5.) all this means he has large & productive cities capable of challenging for a Science Victory. He also got to 18 Diplomatic Victory Points in a recent Deity game, the highest I've seen the AI get. Only downside is that he often goes for Religion, and if he gets one that tends to distract him.

Peter/Russia [9] (8+1) Dang, Peter is getting hit hard. If there is one AI who is likely to get close to an RV it's Peter. Just as humans don't need big cities to win an RV neither does he, he just needs to grab dance of the aurora as he usually does. And given that the player has to make huge sacrifices to get a religion on higher difficulties in the first place, it can be a pain in the butt to stop him. After the early game, a Peter on a different continent going for religion is my civ nightmare. Oh, and even though he can't use them he'll steal all your great people. Argh!
Philip/Spain [3] (6-3) On the other hand if we want to talk about a religious AI which never accomplishes anything... I guess coding rhe AIs to put religious units near conquistadors would be too much to ask.

Philip/Spain ELIMINATED 3 - 3 Spain, on paper, should be a very good civ but time after time spain fails to use any of their abilities effectively. Often Spain is out and down to 1 city before any other civ purely because they are in war with all the other civs.
Poundmaker/Cree [17]
Qin Shi Huang/China [10]
Robert the Bruce/Scotland [8] 7 + 1 In my games Scotland does very well, often with a very small amount of cities. Scotland has gotten close to Science victories, heck, before I knew how to play Scotland would be the civ that won.

Alexander/Macedon [1] (4-3) I don't quite get it. They're one of the better civs in the game, and on paper, the AI should be able to make good use of two classical UUs, no war weariness, eurekas from conquering, etc.... But I never see Alex do much in my games.
