Spoiler :
Looks good. The next step with it would be to add the pennant. Speaking of which. It would be great if you could include a simple finial atop the pole. Like a pair of wings. The pictures of Arjuna's ratha have his heraldic animal - a rampant monkey - but I think that's too complicated.

Actually, I could try doing a monkey and then scaling it down, it would be a bit rough but the roughness would be probably unnoticeable in civ. Or I could do the pair of wings instead.

Remember that there's also the amtter of the civpedia icons. :)

Second stage starting... Tusk side project completed.
Here's how we currently stand on this:

(Edited to switch to thumbnail)

It looks good from this angle, although the top of the pennant's staff is cropped. By the way, there's a check box in imageshack to eliminate the black info band - which some (:mischief:)people find annoyingly useless & distracting.

On another note, I'm thinking about making a couple of Indian models for Blender based on the paperdoll in various clothing styles. If When I do I'll also make some of the uniquely Indian weapons to scale.

I always upload my thumbnails with the resolution bar, as I find it rather helpful when I try to go through the myriad avatars, thmbnails, and 'interesting crap I downloaded from the interwebz' stuff I have on my ImageShack. Such as the hydralisk smiley to the right.
I know, Blender's rendering at 800x600 always, but what the hell... I'm uploading so fast (and in big bunches, usually) that I'm not gonna take it down. THIS IS SPARTA!!!! oh wait, I'm not in a movie.

Aaand checking on the latest pic, I found out that the pieces connecting the axles to the chariot have vanished. They're nowhere on the .blend file, so I'm doing them again.

There we go, now they're linked again. Any modifications on them, btw?

I'd say they're fine as they are. I'm not very concerned about the looks of the axles themselves. They won't show much in the animations. The wheels are what will show.

Taking a second look the only thing that might be worth a try would be moving the front axle forward by its own width. It would give a longer wheel base. But I'd have to see a side shot to know if it looked right.

If one of our other master unit makers has an opinion I'm all ears.

There you go:

Original-->moved by 'one axle'-->then moved backwards as far as possible without having the wheels go behind the ratha.
Maybe I should have moved them by half an axle.

I'd say that your future dream is a shopping scheme.
Also, those green letters aren't that noticeable. especially with my black CFC skin- :)

I can't decide between the two without a straight on side view. The front shouldn't look like a balcony, but the rear shouldn't look like a diving platform. :D
Hard to imagine for me how the finished product will look like. But I`m following the project with interest.
We're aiming for something close to what you can see here and here.

Here's your side view (old, already poasted)

I'll try adding some sort of edge so it's not a 'diving platform' at the back.
you are using SeX PiStOls lyrics ???
I don't know why you should complain, as I did you no wrong.

Thanks for the links to the previews ,BM. The thread has become quite massive.

I do not allow you to break out in Anarchy even if it`s only in the UK.

I have to be picky about this because blind acceptance is a sign of stupid fools who stand in line and if I would just judge the book by it`s cover I would be maybe just another.
?:D

Back to topic ...:)

Ok, no more diving board:

My comment was solely about the wheel-base:

In other words, "I need a set of previews that let's me judge the actual distance between the axles, which I can't do from an angled shot. I cannot decide which of the three shots has the best placement. In the mean time please don't put the wheels so close together that the ratha is unstable and will rock when the crew moves around".

For the foreseeable future Thursday - Sunday is my busiest time. Therefore when I have the least time to read posts & respond. This week, for example, I did about 50 hours work on my part of the current intern project. Including being up at 3 am on Saturday (srsly) making final corrections before going to class (leave house at 6 am) and not getting back from the interns' meeting until 6 pm. When I do post during this part of the week it's going to be brief. Slow thoughtful reading of my post in context will yield the best results. ;) Now I have to get ready & go to another series of meetings that will keep me away from the 'net until this evening.

Oh... anyway, it matches your pics, as all of them have that kind of thing at the back. I wasn't sure so I did something that I had to do anyway.

And, as for RL trouble... I have the Semiotics exam next Monday (01-03-2010) and I have a mother with bunions. :)

IMHO, now that I've added that little piece at the back, it's pretty clear that the wheels are too close to each other.

Do you still want me to use two different sizes of wheels?

Are you any of Sledge Hammer's relatives?
