Quickie hilt I did now in the night:

P.S.: there's no such word as 'Perfectamundo'.

Do you want me to do a katar as well? After the pahari it should be easier.
Now turning to apparel...
What colour's the sacred thread supposed to be?
Got any decent helmets?
There's so many cuirasses that I'm not sure which one to do.

Quickie hilt I did now in the night:
Refinements: Take another look at the pahari gallery I sent you. The hilt is desined to catch & break opponents' weapons. The hooks on your model need to be open & more substantial.

The free one I gave you a link to is good enough. After the rathas are done I can give you a list of Indian weapons that need to be modeled.

Thread: I'd make it either beige or civ-color.
Helmets: I'll give you some images late today.
Armor: Solid with shoulder plates I think. Scale would be my second choice. Can't have a longer discussion til late Sunday.

Never debate semantics with a semiotician. N.B. HumptyDumpty.

HELMETS

Too hastily thrown together, but this is all I can do until Sunday night at the earliest. Key things:
  • Sort of "bullet" shaped
  • Match armor (ie iron or bronze)
  • may have ear or neck guards
  • may have bands, tiers, or rings
  • if possible for the Special I'd like to add the circle (not disk) "halo"
Look at Plotinus' Golden Archer for comparison.

Don't worry, that's not 'hasty', after all, this is for civ and even if the model were on a super scale, it wouldn't be that useful in-game, as the gfx are a couple centimetres across at best.
I've never done a neck guard before, that could be good learning.
Don't worry about the dates, in February I'll have way less spare time, holidays are gonna be over and RL will take its ugly toll.

In that case, I can use 'stupendiferous' quite freely, IMHO. :P

Ssshhhhh!! Don't tell him!
Anyway, I did a quick modification on it. Old--->New-->New2

Sorry, but RL is catching up at an astronomical speed, so I won't be able to post previews at 3 AM and such ludicrous times. Work will be a bit slower on February.

New attempt, a little better, IMO. One of 'em is slightly more 'open' than the other.

I so love this Imageshack toolbar...

EDIT: That katar prop you sent me the link to can't be opened in Blender. I don't have Poser. In fact, I've never used it.

So, as that katar prop didn't work, I made one in about an hour, maybe an hour and a half:

Is the size all right in relation to the other weapons and equipment such as the pahari and the bow? I can scale it up. Also, the blade might be a wee bit too short.

All I can say to the Imageshack Toolbar is 'you complete me'.

OK, first foot's getting operated today, so I'll be on painkillers and antibiotics. Don't worry if I don't upload anything at all in these two, maybe three days.

Pahari - "hooks" still need to be about twice as thick or more, imho.
Katar - yes, the blade needs to be longer - look back at the gallery I pm'd you. The blade is about twice as long as the hand guard.

Hope the operation is successful & the foot heals quickly.

I've got my first real Blender assignment. I've got to model an "evil weapon with lots of detailed decorations like skulls & stuff" based on a reference picture I find on the web by Friday night. Even though the intern project is about a viking mythology setting I'm going to make a phurba for this first effort.

This should include an obj , blend , & jpg for the texture template.

Ingrown toenail removed, anæsthetised, they put acid on it to stop it from growing again, now the anæsethesia has worn off. I can't let it get wet so I can't get underwater and can barely shower (35ºC outside, and also inside, no AC) Result: hell.

It's the right thread, I'm supposed to be uploading my works on the ratha model, and I'm explaining why I'm not doing anything.

It's getting better, thanks.
Note on the colours: I'm using a hemi lamp with RGB 1.1.1 light and Energy=1.

:bump: After the detour that has been undertaken at my Glorious Leader's suggestion, this workshop will soon be operational again... :yup:
Just wanted you to know I'm working on this. I decided that it might be too difficult to throw a bunch of artwork from several sources at someone and just say "make it like that except for this". And I haven't found any single image that puts it all together nicely. So I'm making some crude drawings to accompany - showing fundamentally and simply what I want.
What? You couldn't do that? I'd have thought you could...
If you don't have it, get the Glossary of Semiotics. Invaluable!
It arrived last Thursday and has been of some help. :high5:

Not at all difficult for me - difficult for you as the recipient. I want you to keep working on this, so I've been trying very carefully not to step on your toes.

Don't get near my toes, they're recovering from last week...
