I personally find the discussion about reasons and aspects of the admin decisions worthy and educative for both players and admin. Thank you for sharing your reasons with us and taking the time to answer our questions.

@Plako, Thank you for your prompt action. These kinds of things are exactly why I think an admin is needed. If we did not have admin, teams arguing whether to grant reload or not, could easily have killed this awesome game. IMO, as an admin you have every right to do the reload decision by yourself without team decisions. If in future you need input from the teams though, please do give at least full 24 h to get to team consensus. At least our team has members from four continents (that I'm aware of) so it just takes time to people in Europe, Australia and both Americas to reach the decision.

Oh, and please do continue as an admin. AFAIK, team CFC does not distrust yu or dissaprove of you. Personally I trust you implicitly to make decisions based on what is good for the game, not on what is good for RB.

I read what he wrote, and I have a MAJOR problem with it. That's why I am speaking up for myself.

plako says he is quitting and the "reason" he gives is that "Sommerswerd was against my election" and that CFC has "several members doubting my objectivity" obviously implying that Sommerswerd is one of the "several" So basically he is trying to blame his decision to quit on me and that's BS.

If I am not supposed to be one of the several then who are they? "Several" does not mean just 1 or 2 persons.

As admin you should just give your resolution and not bother with reasoning.

Sounds fine by me. Give reasons, don't give them, makes no difference to me.

Sommerwerd I urge you to read what I wrote and compare it to your answer. They don't match.

Irrelevant. You were elected over any objections I made. If you gave a rat's @ss about my concerns then you wouldn't have taken the job in the first place. It's too late for you to use my long-time-ago concerns as an excuse to quit, so just stop.

That is TWO boldfaced lies right there.

1. You never volunteered to be a "co-admin with r_rolo." You told Yossarian from the start that you only would consider being the sole admin, NOT co-admin. You said "I see no point in being deputy when the sherrif is out of town" or something like that. If you follow this thread you should know by now to get the facts right when you argue with me.

2. I never sent you any PM asking you to step away. I checked my archives just to be sure.

Lessons learned, as I said. For the future, it is probably best if the admin stays out of internal discussions about the admin.

That said, if plako is dead-set on leaving, it would be appreciated if you didn't publicly state that "Team CFC doubts my objectivity". Don't strawman us; tell everybody the truth. Say "vranasm 2metraninja, and bistrita questioned my reasoning and vranasm questioned my objectivity and Bowsling used a cringe smiley to describe the situation". Ideally don't name names, but we seem to be at that point now anyways. Don't bring in discussions from the Timer Thread; that is the past (as Sommerswerd has eloquently pointed out ). Don't make us out to be big, mean, Team CFC (which at least one team has drawn from your post in the public thread).

Team CFC has not made any comments on the matter. Some members, expressing their own opinions only in an internal discussion, were opposed to the way the reload request was handled. One member used the word "objectivity". This was cause enough for plako to resign.

You really nailed it. I'm out for good. Please remove from following your team. I've 0 intrest to follow this game anymore.

Sorry 2Metra, yossarian and other who supported me. The amount of dirispect and hostility from your team is getting ridiculous. Congrats Sommerswerd your message has achieved what you've tried right from the beginnig. Here is extract from the personal message from way back, when I volunteered to assist r_rolo during the setup phase:

So what I am requesting, is could you please return to the silent observer role that you originally represented you would be taking. I mean a smiley or a "Hmmm very interesting" here and there is fine, but mediation/trying to take on an admin role is not.

"During the setup phase" is the key phrase here. You were not volunteering to be and admin or co-admin, this had nothing to do with you being the game admin. You were commenting on the teams arguing over the game settings, and trying to insert yourself into the debate. Yep I vaguely remember this. IIRC the issue was you were trying to advocate RB's preferred language on a particular rule or explain it for them or something along those lines... I was trying to politely ask you to not abuse your universal forum access to be an RB advocate on our forum. That is totally unrelated to the issue of you being game admin. And it is totally disingenuous for you to try to conflate the two.

Paraphrasing another member of this team who has put it so eloquently put it to me... Saying you're done with the discussion and walking away doesn't make you right.

What a mess. It seems like the game is currently unpaused so I'll go in and pause it.

CivFr turn actions were erased because of all of this, so they missed their turn. It's obvious that they need a reload so they can re-do their moves. The last log-in before the timer ran out for CivFr was the one when RB did all their war moves and took two German cities. Unfortunately they will need to reroll all those battles, but it is the only option. This does not seem controversial at all so hopefully the team can agree to this.

Regarding Plako's resignation, we need a new admin for this game ASAP. I'd rather that Caledorn could stay with Team CFC and we ask a different (active) CFC Mod if he/she can admin this game. But I think Cal's offer may be our only option to get this thing moving again in a timely manner, so he definitely has my support if that's the way we go.

I would had loved if Plako stayed at least until this current mess was resolved, but well.

Now we need to get the game going again. As the last thing our admin did was to grant reload and the last useable reload is before RB did the combats and RB said they are OK if this is the only possible option, I will go on and post that we have resolution for this issue and then we can continue searching/debating substitute for the admin.

Sommerswerd, you are really wrong here. plako just referred to your rejection to him as admin at that time. Of course he has this in mind now, when there is some distrust displayed, even if you did not say anything right now. I can understand him. Your current way of arguing is really annoying, especially your choice of words.

On the issue of finding a new admin. I am really sad and reluctant to let Caledorn go but if he wants the admin job I support him of course.

Caledorn is a friend though, and I am worried about the inevitable criticism being taken to heart, which is the only reason I didn't post my support sooner. I guess Cal knows what he is in for and if he is ready to take it on I support him.

This is will be my last post as a team member before I take up the new role as admin.

You know me pretty well, Sommerswerd, and your concerns are not unfounded - but at least I am fully prepared for what may come. We need an admin, and I already considered offering to admin the game when r_rolo disappeared and plako was appointed (as both you and Yossarian knows), as I found it very frustrating to host the game and have to rely on someone who didn't respond to my messages, which held the game up for days. Now that plako has decided to step down, I don't think it's worth the risk that we get another admin who doesn't really take an interest in the game. As long as I am the host, I have a vested interest in the continuity of the game, and I guess the combination of being the host and the admin is the optimal way of handling a game. Thankfully, admin rulings are not a common thing, so it's not like I will have to deal with oodles of criticism on a daily basis every week.

I will miss being able to participate on the team a great deal, as I have enjoyed being part of the team, even though I have more or less mostly been lurking for more than 2 months now. I will not let my allegiance to Team CFC affect any decision I will have to make along the way in my new role as admin - as I suspect you all know. If a situation arises where I have to rule against Team CFC, I will have to do so without hesitation - and I fully believe that everyone here have that faith in me, and I also fully believe that noone on Team CFC will hold it against me if such a situation should arise (constructive criticism will be most welcome though of course). I also believe that everyone here knows that I will do my utmost to be as fair as I can, in the interest of the spirit of the game.

I will continue to lurk the forums on a daily basis, as I really enjoy this game (and that's my comfort - even if I am the admin, noone can or will object to me reading the team forums and enjoying and learning strategies and tactics, and seeing how the game progresses further). And some of you I will remain in touch with on a regular basis of course.

As a last note, I have at least two available pitboss-spaces on my server, so if someone here would like to play a friendly game together, I would really enjoy that. I'm not the best player, nor the most competitive one, so a PB with teams for instance would be very enjoyable (we could team up 1 experienced player with 1 less experienced player for instance - perhaps we'd be able to get 3 or 4 teams, which would be 6 or 8 people).

Finally, I wish you the best of luck in the game! Thank you everyone for having me on the team, and thank you all for giving me the unanimous trust you are showing me. It means a great deal to me
