Turn Complete:goodjob:

Inherrited Turn:
Looking around I found I can increase tax with no change in turns till discovery, so increased taxes till 80%. Bronze still in 10 turns. Found a slightly wounded Elite Warrior sitting at our north end, excitedly letting him rest some more before I go exploring.

In capital I notice that Settler will be completed 7 turns before the town is big enough to support him, so I change to Temple. If we want to try build a wonder, it will come in handy with some more happiness.

Turn 1: Worker complete, waking up warrior to clear out our borders, while increasing the jungle clearing. Industrious is GREAT.

Turn 2: Our brave band of merry Warriors have fully healed and go scouting, a barbarian tribe called the Ligurian found.

Turn 3: Temple completed, 10 turns for settler, shuffle the worked tiles and swap with Memphis give us settler in 8 turns. Also switch Memphis to Warrior, the setting IS raging right?

Turn 4: Our people offer to improve our palace, no wonder, it looks quite pathetic right now, a great new lawn is completed.

Turn 5: We continue to explore our local borders, while our northern Hero takes a rest.

Turn 6: Stepping onto a hill our northern warrior band is greated by yet another barbarian tribe, this one called Patzinal. Maybe there IS more land north...?

Turn 7: We dispatch the barbarian warrior, take a small step forward..and ACK..it is the end of the land..:( Our jungle chopping duo starts mining the silk to give Memphis more than 1 shield.

Turn 8: Warrior built in Memphis, Settler ordered. Our northern warrior still busy resting.

Turn 9: Mine completed, moving down to work a third tile for the capital.

Turn 10: Bronze working discovered, started on Pottery, by increasing research to 40% we get Pottery in 18 instead of 40 turns. NO sunk cost yet, next leader can change at zero wasted research. A Minoun Warrior spotted outside Memphis, I am suddely VERY happy I didn't gamble on a worker right off the bat. You might want to move our warrior from Thebes to double up on the roamer in case first warrior looses.

We have 154 gold in our treasury, and make the most money in the world... Peaking at F11 we found the following nations:
Babylons - Red
Chinese - Lilac (??)
France - Pink
Indians - Grey
Persian - Light Green
Aztec - Green
Iroquois - Purple

Good luck to next leader, a DOT map would be great but I am not sure I can get it to work. Tested download, I might name it something a bit more distinguishable next time...

RBD24 Savefile

Edited for spelling errors. (Great to have a wife for those things, eh?)

Oops, forgot I was in this one! Anyway, got it!

In the interest in keeping this ball rolling, unless you can post a save by tonight, Schnarrd, it's Smegged's turn for his ten. :(

Hope you still stick around to grab the game when that time comes around.

You can skip me. See my post in RBD 10 if you haven't already.

The wise Egil before me set in place a great many wondrous things. The construction of new settlers to found glorious new cities was wise indeed!

Basically all that Smegged I did was found two cities, cut down some jungle, kill some evil barbarians, and draw a dotmap.

We will need to find a way off this rock ASAP. So we are beelining toward map making. In the meantime, pick apart this dotmap.

I especially like the one that is second from the bottom (third from the top). That city is on a "canal" square, we can sail ships right through there and not have to travel around the entire island. The bad thing is that this island is too damn small; this is a large map, we won't even be close to triggering a FP message until we can find another island! In light of this, we might want to squeeze one or two more cities in there, and sacrifice long-term growth for more cities now.

Mapmaking, mapmaking, mapmaking!

Meldor, after your turn is complete, the game then becomes GRAB-THE-GAME. Everyone except for the person who just played will be eligible to take the game and run with it, provided they come back and post within 8 hours. This game has lagged on long enough, and soon we should be flying through the ages.

Remember, only Spaceship and Conquest are acceptable victory conditions.

Once we're out of Despotism, we should irrigate over most of those grassland mines, we'll need the extra food to be able to work all those mountains and hills! Unfortunately, the northern half of our island is inirrigable until Electricity. Stupid mountains.

Oh, once we do get mapmaking, put a settler and a spearman into the first galley we send (or if not the first one, the second). We can't delay in settling new lands, there can't be much of it left given the map params. Somewhere out there is the site of our Forbidden Palace, so let's find it!

Preturn - Thebes is set to build a settler in 10 turns but won't grow to size 3 for 20 turn. I switch it to a spear. Memphis is set to build a settler in 9 turns but won't grow to size 3 for 14 turns, switch it to a spear as well. Elephantine is switched for warrior to spear.

1400 BC - Memphis finishes spear, set to build settler, it will finish settler in 10 turns when it hits a pop of 3.

1375 BC - Alexandria founded on hill, starts a worker.

Those were the high lights. Workers are clearing jungle on the way to Elephantine with a road. Third worker is improving around city for Pyramid due on 193 turns, down from 398. You can switch Thebes to a settler when the spear finishes.

We need to clear a couple of jungle squares around each city to give some shield production.
Remember, it is faster clear the jungle and then build the road. Saves time over all.

We've now got the game started off, now it's time to switch to grab-the-game. Remember, 8 hours from post to post, so don't say you have it if you don't really have it.

I'd kick things off, but I don't have the time tonight.

Remember, priority #1 right now is to escape this island. Priority #2 is to make contact with somebody else. The Great Lighthouse or the Great Library should be the wonders that we'll want, probably moreso than the Pyramids, but it helps to be building up shields in anticipation.

Quick turn around while game is still small.

Pre turn, we have grown nicely since last I Egil ruled the Egyptians. We are building 3 Spearmen, worker and settler, looks pretty good. Oh and yeah..Pyramid in 193 turns...
Turning down taxes, Alphabet in 14, not 22 turns, at break - even. We have 290 gold and nothing to spend it on right now.

Turn 1. Thebes build a spearmen, debating withmyself to make a barrack or not, since this unit upgrade all the way to Mech Inf if not killed. Decide not to....hopefully I won't regret this down the line.

Turn 2. Mine at our wonder city is done, the shield is eaten by corruption the turn it is completed. Sending worker over to hook us up to rest of network. That gives me 3 turns to grumble over this before I decide what to do next with him..

Turn 3. Jungle clearing continue nicely, Industrious workers rock for this, 2x workers = insta road after jungle is gone.

Turn 4. Our Elite warrior band finds the Patzinal tribe again, those barbarians WILL perish!

Turn 5. Conscript warrior killed for 1 hp, our worker duo decide to move north and continue the network before improving any cities.

Turn 6. 2 turns to make a road on a hill....MMMM
A horseman Patzinal attack our warrior, NOT a smart move.

Turn 7. Our slightly dented warrior is eagerly looking for the camp site of the evil Patzinals..

Turn 8. Just one more jungle square to chop down and Alexandria is also hooked up.

Turn 9. Settler build, tagged along spearman as escort, with those barbarians roaming our lands, can't hurt.

Turn 10. Alexandria built a worker, another ordered, after some quick debating about where to send him, I sent him north to road the hill while the duo still clear jungle, I strongly recommend sending one more worker down to our wonder city.

Increased taxes till 30%, Alphabet still due in 4 turns but we make a tad more gold now. I suggest we get some temples online for the cities that don't have their full 21 tiles open yet.

Anyways, good luck to next, here is the copy::egypt:
