12gpt and 30 gold for Steel to Egpyt. Trade Corporation to babylon for 11gpt and 88 gold.

IMO this is not worth it. This is change compared to what our income is--a total of 578 gold, yet it lets Egypt and Babylon catch up one tech each and possible gives them brokerage ops. With the goal being a space victory for X, we should try to keep the other Civs down as long as we can to give X plenty of time to build his ship.

Yeah, I was just looking at all the other deals that were done prior to my turn. Techs were being sold fairly cheap and take all of the AI's cash.

Pre-Turn: 1305AD? Looks like I'll be playing nine turns to even things out. No problem.

(0) 1305AD Wow, the game has changed since last I picked it up. Little Brother has gone on yet another rampage, and the Japanese will soon be the next civ to bite the dust. Persia now has lots of territory in former France, Russia, and Japan - the three civs all furthest away from its starting position. We are even with Little Brother in tech, everyone else is a good 5-6 techs back. We will enter the Modern Age in just two more turns. Everything looks great!!! :goodjob: One thing I do change is to disband a number of spears and pikes which are doing us no good but costing us maintenance. Excessively high defense in interior cities is shifted to those cities under risk of a cultural flip.

(1) 1310AD I decide to send a detachment of 10 tanks to go help out Little Brother. Just for fun, you know?

(2) 1315AD Discover Flight and enter Modern Age. We trade the tech to Little Brother; what's that? You want to give us 640g for a monopoly Industrial Age tech? OK, fine with us. Better yet, I'll just GIVE it to you as an early Birthday present. [party] X-Man draws Rocketry, as usual. We start researching Computers @max rate (7 turns). Also trade horses to Bablyon for some decent cash.

(3) 1320AD I help out Little Brother by killing a defender at Kyoto; he should take the city next turn. A city is founded in former Japan to grab gems: it's named "Precious Stones".

(4) 1325AD Persia captures and razes Kyoto. It's all over for Japan now...

(5) 1330AD Our magnificent armies capture Edo, leaving Japan with only one city left. We will hold the city for a turn to end the resistance, and then gift it over to Big Brother.

(6) 1335AD Egypt kills off Japan. We move our tanks out of Edo and present it as a loving gift to Little Brother.

(9) 1350AD Computers discovered, lots of cities swapped over to research labs. Since they were on wealth before, we are now hurting for cash. Also, with all the other civs bankrupt, we can't use them to finance our deficit research. But Little Brother will do it for us! He offers Amphibious War + WM + 430g + 445gpt. That's almost 10,000g! Since we are strapped for cash at the moment, that's fine with us. MORE than fine, we really are grateful on this deal. :D On a side note, we will have to pick up Rocketry from X-Man in the next trade. Research set to Fission at max rate (7 turns, should go down as we complete labs).

Turns are very easy at the moment, have fun and don't sweat it. I didn't give Xerxes a gift at the end of my turn because I gave him a tech and a city earlier (we don't want to spoil him, after all :mischief: ) Have fun, T-Hawk.

RBD19 1350AD

And a map. For fun, you may want to compare this to the dotmap we drew up earlier in the game; we ended up getting almost every single location on it in the end.

Hmm, fileserver's not responding when I try to download it. I'll try again later; got LK41 to play now. (I've got two games left currently and both come up on the same day. I even play the same year increments in both games (which has confused me when posting on occasion), how's that for synchronicity...)

Umm, isn't X starting to get close to domination there? How do we stop him from doing that? :) There's also the possibility that he'll finally decide to come after us for his next war. Well, we'll see what happens.

edit: OK, got the save (that means no need to clog up my email, Sulla ;) )

Actually, I decided to play this one first since it's such easy sailing. :)

Inherited turn: Just one complaint, why are all the research labs due in 3-5 turns? I always time prebuilds for them (Battleships and Coal Plants work well.) Also, why're so many of our cities up at size 23-24? Beyond 20 doesn't help anything (no, those 20 scientists are not helping our 2000+ beaker production. :) )

We renew Persia's 10 gpt for Dyes deal. We're still paying 4gpt for RoP with him, but that's fine with me.

Hmm, why do we still have 10% luxury tax? Well, yeah, we need it, but why? Hey, we have only six luxuries - and there AREN'T any silks or ivory in the world. Sulla, did you get a bit too enthusiastic in editing the map way back when? :)

======

Xinjian completes SETI as scheduled. I convert irrigation to mines almost everywhere, and build settlers out of the overpopulated cities to transfer to lesser-populated ones.

Some weird math is going on: in 1375, the ticker still shows 2 turns to Fission (it hasn't gained any.) Setting the science slider to 10% shows 235 beakers per turn, Fission due in 9. That means we need 2115 beakers, right? With the slider at 90%, it shows 2158 income being allocated to science, but it still shows 2 turns.

Well, I can get the tech in one turn by pushing the slider to 100%, and lowering the lux tax actually only necessitates hiring about six entertainers total, half of them in Krasnoyarsk.

For Rocketry, Xerxes wants Fission, our treasury, and 316 gold/turn. Sorry, bro, you're asking a bit too much there. He'll pay us 174 gold/turn for Fission instead, though.

I set research to Nuclear Power. He'll need that eventually, and I wouldn't mind having Synthetic Fibers be the last of the techs that X gets. :)

(Can we steal a tech from Xerxes? Or, would anyone object to gifting Babylon up into the modern age so their free Rocketry lowers the cost for us?)

Xerxes starts the UN in Persepolis. I pay to investigate, and it's due in 28 - we're fine. :) (The prebuild for our UN got started a bit late because of the Research Labs.) BTW, Persepolis hasn't built a hospital. X-man has all six luxuries and at least two each of all eight strategics (including SEVEN horses).

=======

I selectively upgraded some infantry (we don't have the money to upgrade them all.) Also, I built a bunch of fighters, since bombers will be really bothersome if we do find ourselves in another war.

We can run 100% science, if you're careful to check cities for happiness. When we don't need 100% science (like right now because Nuclear Power is due in one turn), run 10% lux to be on the safe side.

For Xerxes' birthday, Nanking is going to finish the Manhattan Project so he can build nukes. :nuke: :bday: :nuke:

ok, I was going to do as T-Hawk suggested and play the 10, but in 1425 things got real interesting, Cleopatra chooses unwisely, as Egypt declares war on Persia, and captures the Persian city of Izumo. We will make sure the city is recaptured for Persia, and we will raze an Egyptian city in retaliation.

On the same turn, Hammurabi lands a cavalry in our territory, next to one of our cities. Umm...right.

Izumo is recaptured and gifted to our little brother, an Egyptian city is razed to the ground in retaliation. We killed about 20 Egyptian units and didn't lose one of our own :)

We've fulfilled our variant obligations, but now we're at war, I don't know if we want to prosecute it a little against Egypt. Persia probably *won't* be able to just romp over Egypt, since Egypt has over 50 infantry, and Persia under 20 tanks.

Anyhow, I don't have the time to play a war in the industrial age, so I'm going to hand over after five.

Hmm...we really are giving this game a whipping; Emperor is just too easy, isn't it? :)

-Sirp.

The Game

IT- We are tops in Population, so I don't think we will have to worry about X hitting the domination limit anytime soon. With that said, I plan on grabing a couple cities in Egyptian land. Thanks to Sirp (and/or T-Hawk) for leaving me with a few settlers on hand. Precious Aluminum founded on an aluminum resource next to Precious Stones. Disband a worker and then rush a temple in Precious Aluminum. Troops have been left in great shape. Nice work guys. Saltpeter deal with Babylon comes up and I renew. Oops, they might not last 20 turns at the rate Biz is taking it to them. Good thing we don't have to trade for tech.

1430AD (1) Someone hasn't been updating our palace. I add three pieces to it. Bombard Buto and then capture it without a scratch. Tokyo falls with minor casualties, as does Nagoya.

IT- Nothing much happens. Persia makes no gains and Egypt does not attack us.

1435AD (2) I do not attack anymore and move our troops back to Beijing. There is no need to continue to take it to Egypt.

IT- Nothing happens again. Egypt is gassed and Persia cannot make many gains.

1440AD (3) I found Precious Filler near Precious Stones and Precious Aluminum to try to fill in the land quicker. That and I have nothing else to do.

IT- Persia cancels our MPP. I do not renew.

1445AD (4) After watching 5 Persian tanks die at Lisht, I decide to give our brother more of a hand in his fight. I bring in the artillery and pound Lisht to dust. Persia has now passed us in Population. How did they do that? Oh, Bactra is a size 31. That will do it. I irrigate many of the tiles that were recently mined. We don't need the shields now. We need the population.

IT- With all its troops redlined, Lisht falls easily to Persia now, who razes it. A new city is founded in its place by Egypt.

1450AD (5) Finish Laser and start Space Flight. What will you give for the Laser X? 141 gpt? Sure, you got it. I continue the irrigation program. For his bday, X gets 500 gold.

Conclusion- I don't think X can reach domination unless he takes out most of Egypt, which doesn't seem likely to happen soon. Just to be safe, however, we might want to take several more Egyptian cities. I have left most of our troops with movement points left if the next player wants to continue warring this turn. There is a massive stack of tanks and artillery next to Tokyo, and I have left a settler in the ruins there. I have no idea why moving onto those ruins takes up a mp, but it did, so my settler couldn't found this turn. I have left a couple more settlers in random cities, so use them if you like. Oh and make sure to check out our happiness every turn. I had to remove luxuries in order to keep science going strong, so I hired a few entertainers and kept us in the positive gpt. Maybe some of the lower class Civs have some money to spare. Don't give them too many techs though.

The Save

Don't worry about domination or our population. I actually forgot about that requirement for domination. X would have to eliminate everyone else and get fully double our population to win that way, which isn't going to happen. If you wanted, we could pick one or two of our cities to pump up all the way in size to provide a bit more of a buffer; that might be a good idea, but killing the shield production in all our cities isn't IMO. :)

We're researching Space Flight - when'd we get Rocketry? Nobody mentioned that.

Oh, and I patched up to 1.21 after playing my turn; I expected the game wouldn't get back around to me, or at least that it'd get finished on my turn so it wouldn't matter. If y'all keep playing 5 turns, though, that's gonna turn into a problem...
