Bribed Genghis to attack Brennus in exchange for nationalism
Our economy is pretty crap and with the hostile Brennus ahead of us in tech we really have to get to rifling as quickly as possible - Took the 700 gold from the GM and spent half of it finishing printing press.
Had to raze Sparta because it was indefensible and I didn't want Brennus getting his dirty hands on the wonders there. Pyramids, Notre Dame, Parthenon and Temple of Artemis went up in smoke. I considered renaming our civ to the Vandals.
Brennus switched to USuf and emancipation. He still wanted a city for peace so I captured the crap city of Knossos and gave it to him for peace. Alex is eliminated cleaning up a lot of our WW.
Our offensive army is heading back towards Aztec lands. Monty attacked us with a few knights, pikes and trebs at Um*** but the city held without any real trouble. Our new drafted muskets are quite useful.
To add to our misery, we are starting to lose tiles in the west to Charlemagne's culture.

Looks like some nice moves uberfish...got rid of Alex, got Brennus off our back, and by the time Monty is gone we should be able to draft Riflemen. Have we turned the corner?

Played. Btw just want to mention it now incase I forgot, I will be gone from this friday (12th) to next friday (19th). So skip me if I come up during that time.
Started off by moving most of our army towards Monty's border. Sold Genghis Theology for 220 gold. Great scientist was born in Babylon on turn 2 of my set. Lightbulb gives us chemistry, which is not a huge tech anymore in BTS, so thats off the table. Academy in our best city gives us +20 beaker per turn, not really much, instead of those I decided to start a golden age.
Apostolic Palace voting decides that Monty is the new leader of the palace, meh! The problem with this is that he may decide to start that resolution which makes every leader int eh world declare war on us.. But as long as we keep charlamegne and genghis at catious, they should not vote yes for that hopefully.
We get replaceable parts in 1705 AD. Approximately 11-12 turns away from rifling with the golden age pace. Decided to send army to Tlacopen first and then meet up with our stack umung**** after razing that. Lose 2 trebechuts but raze in 1710 AD.
Brennus captures New Sarai in 1715 AD. Bad News: Brennus has rifling already, and his power just skyrocketed. Maybe we should gift Genghis Gunpowder???
Final Turn: Started Heroic Epic in Nodwengu, which has good hammer potential, Monty tried counterattacking our stack near Malinoco, but failed miserably. He lost like 6 units and killed 1 of ours. We are ready to take that city next turn...
Some units are healing from the previous city seige, they will join up our main stack after we take malinoco. We should probably raze malinoco and go after tenochitlen. Monty is pretty much about to fold once we take another city from him, all he has left is his 3-4 defense units per city now, so we should probably either kill him off or vassalize him. Hopefully Brennus stays occupied with Genghis. Rifling coming in 8 turns.

Nice progress Qwack. If we get another GS I think we should actually use him to lightbulb chemistry since it is on the way to steel. My opinion is we should try to vassalize Monty, mass up rifles and force a showdown with Brennus as soon as possible. Brennus is stronger than us, but because our cities are badly handicapped the situation will only become worse the longer we wait. The other civs are weak, so if we cripple Brennus we win.

I see it, but can't play until tomorrow. Ozbenno if you can play today go ahead and swap otherwise I'll go after Monty Wednesday.
I would be in favor of gifting Genghis Liberalism, then all tech to get him to go to Free Religion. He should be at least Pleased by that point. Haven't looked at the save yet so this might not be possible.

Okay, so first thing I do is make the swap to Mercantilism while we are still in a GA, then do some whipping and micro on the specialists assigned. I then swap the HE over to a Stables in Nodwengu. Checking out the power graph I see what uberfish is talking about, the real danger right now is Brennus. In fact:

Yeah, so we can't run the culture slider but we do have Dyes and in this game it ain't like WFYABTA is a problem. The bulk of my turnset was dealing with the situation at Malinalco. Here is the before:
And the after:
I'm rather proud of this one. I spent a lot of time on attack order and we ended up only losing a Knight, three Musketmen, and a War Elephant. That ain't too bad, especially if you notice the Musketmen with Guerilla II (yes the city is on a hill). I didn't want to wait for reinforcements and face more of those guys. Anyway, I took the city the next turn with sufficient force to deter any counter attack. Ton of troops there, wait a couple of turns to heal and when I am about to advance:
Nuts. I vote no since Charles looks to not like Monty too much, but it turns out only Monty and Brennus really have a significant number of votes, and peace is forced on us. I should have defied but WW was getting pretty bad and I didn't know how many cities had the "bad" religion (or even what the bad religion was), and you can't check with the dialog box open. I sold Monty Education for about 400 cash and put research to full. I'd be inclined to finish Monty off before returning to Brennus, even though he is running away with it. Reason? He can't get much better than Cavs/Rifles anytime soon so might as well secure our flank. It will give us plenty of time to draft and we might get Military Tradition out of Monty for peace. Plus I want the holy city back
