RBW1 - The True Isolationist

Nice ideas on the engineer qwack. Imo getting globe in philly as a galleon farm is best bet. The main thing is that the alternative you offered, oxford, isn;t going to make nearly the impact for a domination win as a galleon whipping station would.

As for tech, might want to grab communism by hook or by crook for state property. That will allow us to keep researching after the initial push into our next target not to mention we can prolly use state property civic now to boost our gnp. er was it gdp? :)

scientific therory + Communism is like 14 turns of research which isn;t all too bad.

Cheers!

Cancel harbour (!?!) and grocer builds, start everything on military, except those cities which don't have forges or barracks, who start them. Never seen a national epic placed so badly in Basra.

Education finished, we started philosophy. Then we went for nationalism, then theology, finally onto steel. Once theology finished, we made a triple civics change to Police State, Nationalism and Theocracy for 3 turns of anarchy, 1 of which is left for the next player.

Philadelphia whipped a forge and theatre. A great engineer is in place here to finish the globe theatre once we are out of anarchy.

Let's get our lazy citizens into the army! Draft, draft, draft. All coastal cities should go onto drydocks once steel is in. Theatres and military for the inland cities. Save is here.

harbour in those cities was +3 commerce I believe :p. Even domestiv trade routes can get up to +4 commerce I think with high pop cities.

Hrm, I let the harbour with only 2 turns left finish, Anjar (pop 10). It was getting 3 gold from trade routes, a 2 value route and a 1 value route. Since harbour adds +50%, then that building got us 1.5 extra commerce. That was the same for the other cities with harbours in the queue, so I changed them to boats. I think I'd rather have half a galleon than 1.5 commerce per turn.

I've got it. I've never played this way, Police State and Nationhood. I've never built a drydock! Do we have any numerical target for numbers of units before the assault on China starts? Basra was my idea, but I don't think the game will be lost because of not getting enough Great People.

It looks like there are only 33 squares on our home continent that we can get from Hannibal. We would need 175 more from Qin, if my math is right, but Qin only has 90 squares, so we need to take out someone else as well. Egypt is vassal of Hannibal and Hannibal has infantry.

1752 I send a galleon westward hoping to find an island we can settle and I draft 3 rifles. No luck on random islands. Globe is rushed in Philly.

1754 3 more rifles drafted. It seems most of our cities don't have barracks. I can't draft out of Nottingham or it will leave 2 unhappy, and Washington, it seems can produce units fast enough.

1756 3 more units drafted.

1758 3 more rifles drafted. You can't draft out of Mecca because you need 10% of your own nationality and Mecca is only 6% American.

...and so it went. We've got 20 rifles, 9 grenadiers, 8 galleons, 2 frigates and started building some cannon. The west coast cities should build military because it takes 13 turns to swing them around to the east. I built one caravel to see what's defending China's cities. Science is down to 60%, maybe we should disband archers and so forth. We don't need that big army in Medina, it can't flip back to Saladin, but it will go into revolt periodically. Steel researched, next up Steam Power. In hindsight, Medina was a better choice for National Epic.

I'm moving the navy to Philadelphia and New York as assembly points for east and west halves of our nation.

Weedy move of the turnset: I built a Buddhist missionary to send to China, but you need open borders for that and it seems every one of our cities has Buddhism. No, wait, the next person can try to get it to Atlanta!

have got to love the whip+draft options for magically creating a frothing army...

Btw is it just me or is half the SG mistaking mao for qin? :crazyeye:

Btw in any WL game I've played with hannibal, that guy is really big into plunking down marginal, crack in the wall type towns. Seems it's part of his MO.

Cheers!

True, I didn't mean to sound as harsh as I did. Problem with national epic is that if you build it late it's irrelevant, but if you build it early you get too many great artists.

in classic (dora the explorer's) Swiper the bandit..

" oh man! "

I just installed the warlords patch in order to finally start the revamped Mao (embellished expansive + fixed first strike protective!) game I'd been salivating over and realized I have an sg to deal with that may not want the patch!!!!

ug

well no time to play turns tonight.

I'll install another version of warlords later unless we all agree to swap it.

Cheers!

I'm already patched, my backup plan to save the original didn't work. The new patch may help us deal with our vassal!
