Re installation of Civ from scratch - do I need any patches ?

On Wednesday my hard drive developed a terminal unrecoverable problem

I have installed a new HD .
I have the original Civ III , Play the world , and Conquests CDs . I am now in the process od reinstalling them all in sequence.

Do I nee to download any patches in addition ?

It appears you should install the Civ3 v1.29f patch. For some reason, not everyone's Civ3 is updated when they install Conquests.

Or wait, you have PTW as well as Conquests? Then no sweat. Install Civ3, then PTW (which will update Civ3 to 1.29f), then Conquests, which will update PTW to 1.27f.

Since you're in England, I don't think you *need* to patch Conquests to 1.02, as my understanding is that patch is for *localized* (read - non-English) versions.
