BREAKING NEWS!

We have recieved a letter from a source in the Balkans who claims to speak for the united peoples of the region. He says that they desire independence from Rome and are ready to rise up against their masters. However, they state that they cannot win alone, and are fearful of the rapid Russian drive in the Ukraine. They say that they will move within the next 3 days - within that time we must decide - will we support this shady movement as its own government, an extension of ours(which the author of the note suggested) or should we let the Romans and the Russians have them?

- Lighthearter

That depends. Does he mean vassal by extension? Would we get fuedalism for it?

I for one, will support this, but they cannot expoect military support in their region until we have finished both italy and germany. A plan has been sent to whosit detailing the specifics.

I need a few things before I can figure out how to ruin . . . I mean play the next turnset.

1) - Are we still following the same plan, Whosit?
2) - Any new military orders?
3) - WHO TOOK MY SANDWICH??:mad::lol:
4) - What are my limitations on taking the initiative?
5) - Keep the debates focused on tactics and other things that are relevant in the game or the thread.

MN - I think that was a typo for "us".

- Lighthearter

I'll send you a PM shortly.

Regarding the new event... I don't suppose we have any information on where exactly they are? Sounds further east than Cumae. Can our forces conceivably reach them in time? I would not like to offer them assistance in name only, especially since offering to aid them may agitate Russia further.

I support integration.

Ello,Ello,Ello.

I've Been Lurking Around This Thread For 4-5 Days Now (Danger! Danger! Lurker Alert! Open The Armoury And Man The Walls!!!) And , I Must Say ,*Puts On Snobby Voice* It Is Rather Interesting Rather. So I'd Like To Join . But , I Have No Clue Whatsoever About The Current State Of Affairs In England . Can Someone Give Me A Quick Summary Of What's Happened Since Cull Came Into Office? Whosit's Prime Person And There's A War With Rome On?

Anyway, I'd Like To Put My Allegiances With The Liberal Marxists .

COMMUNISM CAN WORK!

Bye , And I Look Forward To Happy Days ... :)

wow it says a lot that 4-5 days lurking gets you to Culls Administration... how strange it must seem to go from that pacifist to the crazy Ninja-Pirate that we have now.

Well the history is on the first page up to Arya's administration which is the only one you've missed... so summery? Arya had flared up russian influence. Slavery was debated. I killed the budists and founded christianity. We claimed all of Iberia (Spain) and Arya started up infrastructure. The Romans suddenly decalred war and Arya got us a defensive force quickly. But we still lost Ravus-York in France.

Whosits admin? Not much so far as we have been dealing with the fallout of the elections... Besically things got nudged so that Whosit would be trusted declaring emergancy powers to get us bonuses during the war. Arya became a terrorist in response to being pushed out of influence in both the admin and opposition. First turns of war won us Ravus-York back. We got some catapults running but Roman Tiremes now sail the english seas.

Yay more members for the communists! :goodjob:

Thanks For The Friendly Welcoming, And The Update Since Cull's Election. :)

But England , At The Moment , Is In Disarray . In My Opinion, We Should Gain Back Control Of The Seas. Naval Supremacy Is What Made Britain Great . And,Never Forget,We Are An Island Nation. With Rome Controlling The Seas, We Are Cut Off From Our Colonies In Europe And Iberia . And Without Access To Mainland Europe , Our Colonies Are Ripe For The Taking By Rome . We Cannot Get Reinforcements To Them . And Production Can Only Do So Much .

If We Cannot Out-Produce Rome , Then Maybe We Should Ally With Hannibal , Tech Up To Caravels , And Grab Control Of The Med . We Should Oust The Pacifists From Office And Bring In A More - Militaristic Leader . Imperial Party , Perhaps ? Only He Can Bring Britain Out Of The Dark Ages .

No Offense Arya , But Your Rule Wasn't The Best In The World. :mischief:

Ok, Rather  First Post From Me, Let's Just Hope Wotsit Can Do Better Than Arya (No Offense) . :)

Anyway , Bye , And I Hope I've Made An Impression.

FOR THE PEOPLE,COMRADES!

We are in a whole different timeline than the one we exist in. England, the one we are playing as, is not a naval power, the Vikings are the tech leader, and Rome is being ganged by us, Russia, and the Vikings. I frankly don't give if England was some super naval power in our timeline. It doesn't matter. Before I forget, the Imperial party is in power.

Well you are wrong on many points Mr. Pimm. First of all, no pacifists are 'in-power' right now. Their ship sailed when i took office. We are not in the dark ages. We do not have a major navy, although as head of the military i have been pushing for at least SOME navy to be built. But rome has ONE trirteme in the bay of biscay off france since they built one in RY. But other thn that we have yet to see a navy from them. And i never said my rule was the best in the world. I know it wasnt. But i consider it a solid term in which vital advances and important steps forward were made. In my opinion, it was better than Cull's, and even though Ravus didnt have much to do, what he did was done great so my term wasnt as good as his.

Caravels are a while away. We dont need them right now anyway. Maybe in the future, but they are not a pressing need. And you mispelled whosit.

Ok,I Guess My First Impressions Wern't That Good , And I Was A Lot Off , But Ravus_sol Was A Bit Misleading . Guess I Should Have Read Up A Bit More...

Anyway , I'll Try To Be A Bit More Correct In Future . :) Sorry

The TCP has had a long history. It was founded by Cull as the Educated Party, back during the founding of England. However, when Cull was unable to maintain the party (OOC: When Cull was on vacation), he joined the Monks, and left the Educated Party to be maintained by MathNerd. MathNerd rallied the members of the Educated Party to revolution into the TCP you now know.

Yet again, the members of the TCP are at unrest. Arya's administration let them see firsthand how an oppressive government would fail, and with the coming of Whosit, they are yet again inspired. England can be a better place: all it takes is cooperation.

The TCP is yet again changing it's name and description:

The Cooperative Party of England

Supports cooperation between the Administration and the Opposition rather than competition. Believes that the Administration should be free and open minded, and that it should consider the opinions of the Opposition in its decisions. The CPE feels that in return, the Opposition should be kind and respectful to the Administration. The CPE prefers not to war unless necessary for England.

CaesarPlayer: LH has probably forgotten to update the main page (only he has the powah), but I know that you're with us!

As for the Balkans crisis, here is what I think is the most prudent course of action: We reply to the rebels that we support their cause and wish to liberate them, but our armies are not close enough to assist them. We will fight our way east, and when we approach, they can rise up and our forces will assist them, and bring them into the glorious English Empire (turn them into one of our own cities, not a vassal state).

By adhering to this approach, we still stand a good chance of this territory "flipping" to us, but we will mitigate the possible embarrassment of having them rebel while we are still leagues away and unable to protect them from a counter-attack. It also gives us an excuse (not that we really need one, of course) to roll up Rome's central European territory.

The risk, of course, is that we may come into conflict with Russia if they decide to fight over the territory, as well. The risk may actually be higher this way, because asking the rebels to wait gives Russia more time to advance. However, if they wait until our forces are in the area, then Russia faces the risk of challenging us while we have the full force of our military might aligned against them, so they may back down (this is also assuming that LH is "playing" the Russians in this sense--the AI probably wouldn't do much, itself).

I do not think that it would be wise to call on them to rebel immediately, or to support them if they do so anyway, because we won't really be in a position to assist them, and our reputation may be further marred if we publicly announce support for a rebel group that gets immediately crushed.

Comments?

As far as I know, the Russians have advanced from their traditional homes and are already on the verge of Greece. The Romans are falling. If we do not truly assist them now, they will be crushed and "liberated" by the Russians.

The time is now. We must either show support fully or ignore them completely. As far as I can see, there is very little, if any, middle road we can truly take.
