I agree with Whosit: burning cities just leaves a scorched, infrastructureless wasteland that we would have to rebuild to make the investment in lives lost worth anything.

And you religious types, spending British lives to acquire the land, now want to burn everythring there down? What does it matter if theres a different picture on their altar? Its nothing more than lies made to oppress the proletariat and believe that accepting injustice in this world means they will recieve a reward after they die. But they will be DEAD. And they will recieve NOTHING. If we spend lives to capture territory, the way to honor them is not to destroy everthing that remains of what they fought for! The way is to USE that territory, make it TRULY OURS!

Be careful Pope Ravus, I just may call for a protestant reformation that doesnt answer to a Pope.

Closed: Make sure you dont speak of caesar in open parliament, or else you just give him the opportunity to cause trouble for us. I am arresting him now on War crimes that should have been brought to the table long ago, when Whosit instead chose to let him live peacefully, free to do as he wishes in north italy. It is time he was brought to justice. Remembering the burning of RY and everything made me remember this.

[closed]WE burned down Ravus-York as a scorched earth policy, didn't we? I demand a valid reason, one I can accept.[/closed]

I am both with and Against Mech. :closed: We burned RY, and I do not feel that Caeser should be judged for what happened 1000's of years ago. He has lived without doing anything to us for so long he has proved he deserves another chance. Give us a better Reason. :closed:

OOC: @Mech- Burning cities is FUN!!! :fire:
Gameplay and politics wise I am against it, but I support doing it for the  factor.
And cuz i'm a pyromaniac :D
And the pope said so :jesus:

Mech, we arn't pushing these extreme measures because of religion we are pushing them as the quickest and most expedient way to save the most lives and build a heaven upon earth.

Be careful Pope Ravus, I just may call for a protestant reformation that doesnt answer to a Pope.

Spoiler :
Again, We burned down the interior of Ravus-York. In Fact Athers did it if my memory serves. If you want to get him out of the way as a political liability we could have just assassinated him. Bringing him into the public spotlight means we will have to answer for the current well-being of the Italian people and will be reminding them they were once free.

:lol::lol::lol:

Ravus Sol; you shall henceforth be known as: Darth Pope!!!

I pretty much agree with what ravus said, but will and in a little extra, OOC: BURNING CITIES IS FUN!!!!!! :fire:

OOC: Never said the caesar thing would go public.

IC: I, as president of England, say that WE SHALL NOT burn down any russian cities, or any cities for that matter. I am ashamed that our pope would think of committing Genocide, and do not try and rename it, because that is what it is.

Sigh. Again: not genocide, mass murder at worst (meaning its pretty bad). "-cide" means (AFAIK) "murder". "Geno-" means "genes". We aren't killing all of them we come across.

THAT BEING SAID, I am against it for many, many reasons.

[closed]I still demand a reason for the order to capture Caesar. Caesar is in Italy, and I am the Governor-General of said province. I feel I have a right to know what is happening in my province.[/spoiler]

OOC: i'm doin' it for the Evulz

:closed: Mech's Right, we still need a good ceaser Reason :closed:

Um...when did i EVER appoint a governor general?

.... :eek2:

Actually, now that I think about it, you're right. I blame Lighthearter for continuing to list me under that position on the first page.

Um...when did i EVER appoint a governor general?

you didn't. it was part of Rome's surrender terms. you were offered the position, but you declined and Mech took it.

News:

A Closed Session with Irish Politicians has started over their future. Currently only Ravus and Arya are present. If anyone wishes to observe only act quickly and get onto the ChatRoom.

NO. Nobody shall attend besides aysee, and the people already there.

If we burn adopt a scorched earth policy, we can accomplish many things.

1. It will show to Saladin that we are not to be messed with. It will show him that our military strength eclipses his so much, that we can BURN HIS CITIZ DOWN. It just might be the blow necessary to have him make peace, thus making him more likely to accept a peace favorable to us.

2. It will send an message to the other countries. No other cities have been razed yet. If they see us raze cities, then they will be more afraid of us. They will be less likely to threaten us in the future.

3. It will cripple the Russian and Arab economies. If we burn cities, they will lose sources of income and research. And they won't be able to gain it back by capturing either. It will be gone for good. Look, if it worked here, why can't we make it work too?

4. It will intimidate the people. When their cities are being razed, the people will see that the government is not able to protect them. When this happens, there will be discontent throughout their lands, causing production to drop, unhappiness to rise, and forcing Sal to make peace sooner.

5. It will save English lives. Razing cities will force Sal to make peace sooner. Making peace sooner will spare young men from dying at the gates of cities. If we make peace sooner, then more young Englishmen will be spared from fighting. We will save countless lives in that way. It is a hard choice, yes, but in the end, I feel that our citizens, our soldiers, our children are worth a few burned buildings.

Irish Negotiations:

Arya and Ravus can explain what happened(If they don't I will later) but the net result is that the Khan and Temujin(KRF leader) have promised guerrilla warfare against us now. Cathy is apparently their third-in-command.

So yeah. Khan is NOT happy with us. Said something about expecting honor but instead getting arrogance and imperialism.

So ask the President and the Pope for details. Or I can handle it after my English and Civics.

-L

I will explain it. So it happened like this...once upon a time....

No really though. Okay so basicly we start talking and i announce my plan, making sure its clear that i give the khan almost total autonomy in it. But then he basicly says its an insult, and temujin (leader of the KRF, i think it was a mistake inviting him) spits on it. Things go downhill from there.

Basicly in the end, temujin breaks down a wall and storms out. Athers comes in. We piss each other off. He was being arrogant. I was upset that he had just stood there in negotiations without revealing himself. Amanara breaks in, rescues the khan, and they run away. Yeah, we are working on it right now. Hopefully, this will end up as an opportunity instead of a disaster.

More detailed version -

Arya entered and started talking to Kublai and Temujin and Cathy about how Ireland could be a "state" in the new "United States of England" as Ravus dubbed it. The Khan got pissed and stated that Ireland did not fight so long and hard just to be annexed by England. Temujin got pissed too. Ravus rephrased Arya's demand in a more diplomatic way and the Khan was on the verge of accepting. Not to sound rude, but at that point Arya spoke again. Something about how all power must be centralized in London. Ravus asked what the Khan wanted. He stated that at most he could justify a vassalization, but Temujin declared that unacceptable. An alliance was what the two had agreed to be their stipulation. Temujin attempted to leave. Arya drew his sword and blocked the door. Temujin threw a coffee table and made a back door, which he proceeded to leave through. Arya then held the Khan at swordpoint until he called Amanara, who rescued him, breaking another wall in the process. Athers showed up and basically called Arya an idiot. Then he and Cathy left, shaking their heads. Through a third wall. This left Ravus, Arya, Celt, LH and the Fourth Wall. The Khan and Temujin both promised guerrilla warfare against England in the near future, and 8 Redcoats in New Horizons have already been found dead.

Any questions?

...Sigh LH. Always making things difficult for me.
