Athers slammed open the doors to the citadel center, still feeling shaken from the battle with Red Feather. He strode forward towards Lord Whosit, standing in the center of the room staring at a map on a large table. There were little white and purple counters on it, and occasionally a man with a long pole would shift one to a new position. Whosit was darkly contemplating one pair that were drawing inexorably towards Ravus from the north and a trio coming from the south. Athers looked at the map for a moment, then sighed and looked at Whosit.

"My lord, we have a problem."

Whosit threw up his hands. "What now!?!? The Russians? The Carthaginians? A giant Caesar robot?"

"Nothing that simple. You may know that me and my men have varied pasts?"

Whosit nodded slowly, starting to sense a theme.

"Well, I was born across the ocean in a land called America. A city named Mound City, to be precise. I was a detective there, and learned to fight, becoming something of a vigilante. However, at one point I was fighting a group of thugs and shot one in the wrong place. Turned out he was the cousin of our ruler, Sitting Bull, and the high chief was unhappy with my action. So I had to flee, and found my way to a place called 'New York' in a land called the United States of America. Ruled by a wise man named Lincoln. He got me a ship across to a place called 'Inca'. Masters, my second-in-command, was one of the men on that ship. A convict, as a matter of fact, for a murder - of a guy who was attacking him. The two of us agreed to find a land where we could start anew.

"Our journey into Incan lands ended quickly - but we picked up a few more men who needed a new start. We crossed a great ocean called the Pacific and entered a land called 'Korea' where we learned unarmed fighting techniques from wise masters. I think that was about where we began to think about forming a fighting unit - however, when we left Korea and arrived in 'Japan' for more training . . . ."

"Someone found you?"

"Exactly. A man called Red Feather. He's Sitting Bull's younger brother, and is gifted by their gods with incredible strength and stamina. In Japan I shoved him off a cliff after running him through with a Naginata - and he jumped back up and broke my spine. Masters fired a ballista at him and stunned him long enough for the preists to get me to safety while Masters lured Feather onto a ship then sent it out into Tokyo Bay and blew it up. Never saw Red Feather again -"

"Until today?"

"Yes." Athers then went on to explain what had happened. "I don't know if it's even possible to kill him." He finished. "I know that the Night Eagles couldn't do it. If we have an archenemy, it's him. Well, him and Joker, back in the US. Lincoln is struggling with him even now. And . . ."

"What?? Do we have to face THAT guy too???"

"No. But Sulla somehow survived the explosion and being bucked by his horse into a patch of fire - only winded and not even singed. There's only one possibility."

"He's another of Sitting Bull's brothers?"

"No. Amanara."

"Who now!?!?!"

"An Egyptian priest - a worshiper of Set, the god of darkness and chaos. She tried to sacrifice . . . a woman I knew there to Set and we stopped her. I ran her through and kicked her into a flaming pit, actually. However, I've thought I've seen her around Eagle Base recently, and she possesses powers given by Set - one is shape-shifting and another is the ability to return from death. I thought that we interrupted that ritual by killing her before the sacrifice, but now that I think about it there was nothing in the spell's description that said a sacrifice was needed - just human blood tossed into a flaming pit."

"Uh-oh"

"Exactly. We have two major problems if I'm right. She also is an avatar of Set and can use divine powers of his if pressed. We barely won last time and I don't know if we can do it again."

Suddenly the door burst open again. "Lord Whosit! They're here!"

"To your posts!" Whosit cried. He then turned and grabbed Athers by the arm. "Trust my men to handle the Romans - you deal with Amanara and Red Feather if they're here. I hope you're up to the task - we have no power other then yours to match those two."

Isn't this shaping up nicely? My characters have taken over the story at last!:goodjob:

There is a certain amount of force nothing can counter, but at that point, its just killing until the smaller force dies. However, if a single person can kill upwards to 40-50 men in one battle, does that not count as a victory, however bittersweet?

Yes. I was just countering arya's argument because he said "always."

Also: "Giant Caesar robot!"

LH, I think that your characters are always the stars of your stories. But I think that I had better pray to Stonehenge and Christ-Ravus that I'm immortal, too .... :please:

Lighthearter: You do realize that you're shamelessly "borrowing" material from Batman right?:p

Wow...you've managed to grind the electioneering to a halt...

Nothing else to say at the moment...

I have no idea how to play, but I am currently playing in IOT, and would like to join (if someone could explain the rules :)).

Hey! Nice to see you here!

Basically, you form political parties and vote for parties. Parties can form coalitions together as well. Right now, elections are going on.

So first, I'd decide which party to join or make your own. Also, I recommend reading the rules on the first page and reading the Books of Ravus, which detail the history of our nation.

Also (applies to all players), join the Realpolitik group!!

Here it is:

1. Host plays the game.
2. You form parties.
3. You vote for who you want to make decisions in the game. The election winner becomes "President" (DOES NOT PLAY THE ACTUAL GAME)
4. The President dictates what to do with the assistance of advisors (ministers)
5. After a set number of turns, elections begin again.

Certainly. First, I would start by reading the first page. The first three posts should help you get up to speed on the rules. We're in elections, so everyone is going to ask you to join their party. I'll ask you when I'm done explaining. ;)

To sum up what has been happening so far, we are playing Churchill of England (well, sorta) on an Earth map. We've expanded from the home islands into France and Iberia, but now Rome has declared war on us because we don't have an army. Right now, Lighthearter, our "game master" or whatever term he wants to go by, is concocting a scenario to decide if our city of Ravus-York, the Christian holy city, and our main hold in Europe, is going to fall or stand. We're in a very precarious situation. Go to page 132 for the latest in-game update.

As for parties, there are several, and two major coalitions at the moment. On the one hand, you could serve England by joining Aegis, which consists of my Imperial Party (we advocate fiscal responsibility so that we can fund armies to crush and conquer our enemies), the People's Consortium of England, and the Liberal Marxist Party.

You could anchor yourself to a sinking ship by joining the Green-Techno Coalition, which is composed of pacifists and technocrats (no offense meant, guys :p).

Or you could throw yourself into the flames of political hell and join one of the fringe parties, like the Pirate/Ninja party which apparently advocates sabotaging its own country during wartime, or the Strength & Faith party which wants to go on a holy crusade against everyone who's not Christian. Neither are in a Coalition, as far as I know.

Of course, I would be most pleased if you would lend the Imperial Party your strength. In this time of war, we need courageous men and women to make the hard choices, to fight the seemingly impossible battles, and to claw and scrape and hack until we are standing atop the bodies of our enemies, true glory in our hands!

Good times.

Pray to Stonehenge first.

Stonehenge is obsolete(religion wise). The monks have converted to Christianity since their leader is the founder. Only remnants of people still pray to stonehenge....rather, why dont we pray to Christ that Athers is able to handle these 2 super human THINGS?

Whosit, you wouldnt be 'immortal' in the combat sense like we are, but since you were such an important advisor in my administrtion, when Christianity was founded, god decided to grant you the same power that we had. So your safe.

My bad if i said always, but if the smaller force can inflict enough casualties upon their defeat, wouldnt you cont that as a victory anyway? Thermoplae is a perfect example. leonidas and his men held off the persians and dealt them a HUGE blow, also allowing an army to be assembled against them. I consider that to be a victory.

Aysee - Yes, I know. But I just LOVE Arkham Asylum and these scenes are just flat out AWESOME!

MathNerd - Why thank you!

Elections - I say that I write more on the battle today, however, tomorrow and Tuesday are election days. We'll wrap up on . . . oh yeah, I won't be here on Wednesday. Oh well - we wrap up Thursday evening. So I think I can keep up writing this stuff today, tomorrow and even Tuesday if it gets that awesome. However, I'll try to keep it short.

Yeah, I was just nitpicking. :p Tactical victory for the Persians, strategic victory for the Greeks.

Well, shouldnt you join a party of god (Faith and Strength, my party) and pray that we survive this upcoming battle? I get the feeling you would fit in well with us.

Before you join a party, think about how you want the nation to be run. Would you advocate right or left wing policies in general? Would you be religious, in the game? Advocate war? Want money above everything else? Think technology will save us and should be prioritized?

Once you answer those questions yu can decide what party you should join.

To civplayah (but really applies to all)

Do you desire equality for all?
Do you feel the urge to be the voice of the common worker?
Do you desire a square deal for the working man?

Then join

The Liberal Marxist Party

Wait a min there!

The GPC (composed of my party, the TCP, and the Green Party) has the best foundation of all of the coalitions. We have NEVER broken up and have no plans to. We agree in almost every aspect, unlike the other coalitions, who have a wide variety of conflicting views and even some members that dislike each other strongly. (Ahem, ilduce, arya :p)

Just remember that quantity is a quality all its own.

EDIT: This is actually a response to the numbers discussion about the battle.
