Red Alert 2

Actually units on both sides are balanced. While the Allies (basically American) have the elite Prism and Mirage Tanks are good, the Soviet's the almost unbeatable Airships [in sufficient numbers can destroy even the most heavilly defended base], the Apocalypse Tanks and the Siege Choppers more than balance the account. Among the infantry units the Allies are better as they can be 'fortified' where they are and get more HPs. Yuri's mindcontrolled units are weak while the citizens are useless to you when freed ;) !

Oh by the way what is the Vanilla version?

How annoying was it when you were playing online and you forgot to build air defence and they come and wipe you out

I sometimes intentionally went over to where I thought the enemy base was just so I could listen to see if they were building airships.

After some epic losts, i am more scared of hearing "Disc in Flight ..."

Btw, Yuri Prime was a quite cool unit. :)

Which one? The one in Yuri or vanilla?

The one in Yuri is useless. They can't mind control structures before they get shot or zap by Prism or Tesla Towers.

But as far as I'm concerned I'm more of a "tank" player anyway. All infantry to me are rubbish unless garrisoned.

Anyway, I'm most scared of hearing "one way trip!"

In Yuri.
The Yuri prime, just like the UFO are kinda worthless on their own.

You shouldn't expect much of 5 UFOs atacking on their own. They need some support from the ground to draw some fire and kill some anti-air units.

As for Yuri Prime - i used him to sneak him in the enemy base while a battle took place. Capture and sell everything you can. He should have a MasterMind with him tho, just in case.
As for Yuri vs Tesla/Prism - Yuri + UFO vs Tesla/Prism is the way. :D

Oy... None of the factions are overpowered. They just use vastly different tactics. Though I prefer the allies, as they have the spy sat and rocketeers.

Though I would say Yuri's Floating Discs are very cheap; shutting down their power, stealing money, etc.

I've found that the soviets are at a disadvantage when faced with Yuri compared to the allies. The apocalypse tank has to get into range of Yuris psychic defense towers while the prism tanks outrange them.
Overall, i'd say the soviets are the hardest to play as against well managed allies or Yuris.

Their Siege Choppers are amazing, they're cool too if you place them on a cliff near an enemy base...

For me Seige Choppers work but they usually get overrun and destroyed.

I know to bring support. I just usually don'y have enough of it.
I admit that I'm not very good when it comes to real-time multiplayer games.

You could just bring in large amounts of the choppers, and make most of them deploy, while the rest stay up and protect you. And the assistance of some troops and possibly small tanks.

I'll have to go with what seems the minority here, I never really liked nor used Seige choppers. when I played the Soviets it was either Airships or tanks

Airships are goddamn slow, and tanks are too easily mind controlled.

Try using Siege Choppers, the strength of an apocalypse and the flexibility of a rocketeer!

Nah, not as flexible as a rocketeer... They aren't dirt cheap enough to not mind losing 20 in an attack.
