A lot of such games have, "joke units." Age of Empire 2 had a guy driving a '70's muscle car, and Age of Mythology had a flying hippomatamus.

I loved the secret dinosaur and ant campaigns/units in the old C&C and Red Alert games respectively.

They've launched a very nice looking website now where you can look at all the factions abilities and units.. even plays little demonstration videos of each of the unit abilities..
