red alert 3

I think they overdid the cartooniness, but at least you can see the playing field. As long as they keep the wacky undertones of RA2 I should be content.

franchisecide? I didn't realize George Lucas was here...

I think the Red Alert series is getting a little old to be honest and the plot isn't that great in this 1 and is pretty much the same as the other ones. Someone goes back in time and now you have to fight an aggresive enemy.

:( why are y'all ruining a fun game for me?
red alert was never about the plot anyway, its gameplay is what shined. if you guys want a good ploot AND good gameplay then go play starcraft2(and start a SC2 thread , please. we need one) .

Dude, we've had like 3 SC2 threads, and we can not like the lack of story if we want to. I honestly think Red Alert 2's story was interesting and I enjoyed the idea of fighting on the home front. It was new to me back then. This is generic.

this whole cartoony graphics . .. .. .. .. .. .. .. . has become a turnoff.

It'll probably have the balance of Yuri's revenge.

In other words, this is going to bite. :(

Without an engaging campaign, good multiplayer is the only thing that can save this game. If it's unbalanced though, then it's simply a poor game for failing on both singleplayer and multiplayer fronts.

And knowing EA, I'm holding my breath.

Uh, I hate how the Japanese are made like aliens or something. Suspension of disbelief is stretched to the max. Would have been much better and interesting if made subtler.

It's looking good IMO. I don't mind the cartoonish graphics - I mean, it's a Red Alert. The FMV trailer is out, and the cast and the story's looking good.

And if RA3 graphics are too cartoonish, what does that make Civ4/CivRev graphics? :p

It's wacky and I love it. Not too many RTSs go that route. It's fresh.

It's not. It's similar to C&C3, and follows the previous RA formula (1 good faction, 1 kickass bad faction and 1 wierd pseudo-cool faction). Heck, this was done a lot better and a lot more subtly in Supreme Commander.

No, I am talking about the cartoonish take on the artistic design. C&C 3's was in line with Tiberium Sun. Same sci fi stuff: giant mechs and tanks.
Red Alert 3 has a Jean Grey school girl in it. It is a big difference.
