Update 19- January 1953
TAFT TAKES OFFICE! Taft has taken office as president of the united States as 1953 sets in.
WORLD WAR TWO! President Taft in his speech to the nation said that we are now in A second Great War. Another war to involve the entire world. We have entered World War Two. The term has stuck, and now every one is calling the war, world war two.
IRISH VICTORY? The British have ceded north Ireland over to the Irish. The new Irish government has done little to stop the violence spreading between Catholics and Protestants. The majority of North Ireland wants a return to British rule.
BALEARIC ISLANDS! These islands were handed over to Mediterranea early in January. The idea was to promote more unity between the two sides. It is unsure how this will turn out in the near future.
FIRST MAN IN SPACE! The united Space beats Portugal by one day when it sends the first man into Space, Alan Shepherd. The Portugese then send their own Astronaut into space the day after. Over the next few weeks, they also send a Frenchman, and Italian, a Irishman and a Spaniard into space.
FINN-RUSSO LINE FINISHED! The Finns now have a Maginot like system running across their entire border with Russia.
VIETNAM WAR! Although not directly considered part of world war two, the Vietnam war is considered to be part of it. China has advanced onto Saigon, but Vietnamese fighters have put up stiff resistance. Rebels in the North called the Vietcong have launched attack on North Vietnamese forces. This has turned into a Guerilla war of attrition. It is unsure who will win.

ISRAELI WAR! The Syrians continue to fight the Israelis. The British send 150 shermans to Israel. This helps turn the tide as the Israeli tanks destroy a Syrian offensive on Haifa. This seemed like the tides might have turned, but almost 50,000 volunteers from Egypt, Iraq and Saudi Arabia soon swell the army of Syria and they are able to recover. The Israelis do not look in a good position right now.

BALTIC FRONT!
Sweden launches its attack on the Soviet Baltic Fleet. Based on 5 Carriers, the Swedish fleet . Their sea based Jets, quickly sink 3 Russian destroyers. The Soviets however launch their submarine fleet against the Swedes. With only 30 anti-submarine warships, the Swedes are not able to protect every available corner. They are able to destroy 7 Russian subs, but not before losing 2 Heavy Cruisers, 1 Destroyer and a heavily damaged Carrier. The Soviets also responded by using their superior MIG-17 against the Swedes. They protected the Baltic Fleet from further damage. The Baltic Fleet makes up of 1/3 of the Russian navy, the Atlantic fleet another 1/3 and the Black Sea fleet 1/3.
Russian Air engages the large Air Armada of the Swedes as it attempts to attack Russian ships. The 119 spitfires could not stand up to 28 MIG-17s. 56 Spitfires were lost to 3 Mig-17s. This air battle has proven the air superiority of Jets over propellers. After this battle, the Russian divert much of their spending to the navy.
The British sent their Nuclear Submarines to attack Russian ships. They sunk 2 patrolling Frigates.
Soon after this, Russia discovers 3 French submarines next to Leningrad. When they do not answer radio hails from Russian destroyers, depth charges quickly destroy them. The Russians then declare war on France...

FRENCH FRONT
The large Russian and German armies waiting to attack Belgium, instead launch their attack on France. The Maginot line is broken after a near 5 hour, continuous artillery bombardment for 3 days straight, as well as 7 days of air assault. The Maginot Line as with all defensive lines have now become obsolete. It is proven that only a small area need to be broken for an entire army to slip in. Hundreds of thousands of troops have now poured into France just south of the Ardennes. He French were unable to move their forces, located along the Maginot line, to the front. The Russian and German forces then attacked the Ardennes from behind and take the Forest with ease. With such shock and awe, the French have been left speechless. French planes are all that stopped Russia from marching on Paris.

AUSTRIAN FRONT
The Slovaks, Poles and Russians overwhelm the defenders of Vienna as eastern Austria surrenders. The Battle of Vienna is the first sight of modern Urban combat. Although lasting only 1 week, the defenders used all means available before retreating out of the city. Casualties on both sides were high because of this. The west is still free however, and will appear to remain so for a short while, because the Russians, Poles and Slovaks have crossed over into Hungry. Their armies have quickly move near the Hungarian capital, where the country prepares for its last stand.

BALKAN FRONT
GREEK ARMY SURRENDERS! As NATO forces deploy to the area, and prepare for operations, the Warsaw pact is able to launch its own attacks. The Greek general in charge of the expeditionary force decides to surrender rather than fight and have his men get killed. Many call it cowardice, some call it stupid. The captured general was quoted before surrendering My mens lives mean more then anything to me. We will not fight a pointless battle to cause pointless deaths.

AMPHIBIOUS LANDING! They then tried an amphibious assault, the second largest in History(next to the Kyushu landing). The Yugoslavian air force, which was on alert, was not able to stop it, and lost much. They were however able to sink 3 Frigates and kill 1,000 men while in their transports. The landing near Sarajevo. The near 100,000 men and 1000 tanks are now in a beachhead. They have taken relatively light casualties(compared to Kyushu). The Yugoslavians only have 50,000 men and 100 tanks around the beachhead. Mediterranea has complete air superiority.

BATTLE OF MARMORA! The battle that may ultimately decide who controls the eastern Mediterranean. In the first phase of what is known as operation Whirlpool, a large British fleet set off to destroy the Turkish fleet sitting in the Marmora Sea. The Turks though had just built up their own naval strength. They were however still not equal to British strength. In the early morning, Turkish frigates on patrol spotted the approaching British fleet, an hour before the scheduled launch of fighters. They quickly radioed in HQ and they quickly assembled a strike force. Nearly 100 Meteors now stood ready to attack the fleet, just minutes before launch. The British launched 100 jet fighter/bombers off of Carriers. They met the Meteors near the mouth of Marmora. The dogfight that ensued lasted 32 minutes, and was a victory for the Turks. The Turkish fleet then attacked the British fleet. The Brits had only 23 jets left, compared to the 210 propellor fighter bombers of the 3 Turkish carriers. It was not enough, the Turks were able to destroy only escort ships, but the damage was done. The Turkish fleet did not engage the British in ship combat, for fear of losing. The Turkish fleet was still the victor.
British: -1 Heavy Cruiser, -3 Destroyers, -5 Frigates
Turks: -55 Meteors
CYPRUS! Meanwhile, the British launched the 2nd step of Operation Whirlpool. With 25,000 men and 300 tanks, they took Cyprus. The Turks neglected the island, as it fell once again to Britain.
AEGEAN! The final step of the Operation was the capture of many of the Aegean islands. This went off without a hitch.
OPERATION LAUREL! The second great operation the British had. With over 200,000 men the British launched an attack on the Romanians and Yugoslavians. The Romanians, Poles and Russians were all attacking from the east. Operation Laurel counter attacked against them. The British were able to gain early victories as the Bulgarians helped, but the overwhelming numbers and air superiority destroyed the British hopes for success. The grand scale of the campaign was the largest seen in Europe since world war one. There has been many casualties and the Warsaw Pact has continued to push south. The British have forced a line though, and now the real fight begins.

DIPLOMACY:
From Russia
To Warsaw Pact:
here, Mech Infantry and MIG-15s for everyone!
From Russia
To NPA:
France caused an act of war between Russia and herself. We do not wish war with your alliance, or France. We only acted out of the fear of France attacking us. We would be happy to negotiate peace. We had the chance to attack other members of NPA, did we, no. I hope this shows our willingness towards peace. We will however continue our war against Italy as it attacked our allies.
From Russia:
To NATO:
Let us keep all freed lands, and we will be happy for peace.
From Israel
To Britain:
Send your Middle-eastern force to help save us.
From America
To Britain:
tell us what we should do with the Atlantic Fleet.
OOC:
SPIES: Ive now going to put down rules to spy network. Computers will add an automatic +5wc to your spy network, and transistors another +5.
<10 wc: You get nothing from your network
10-19 wc: your troops will be more effective then before when attacking
20-29 wc: youre troops will also be more effective then before when defending
30-39 wc: you can sabotage enemy airfields, fuel depots etc(I will determine how much damage)
40-49: you can assassinate political and military leaders
50-59:you can launch terror attacks
60-74: you can start resistance movements (french resistance)
>74: you can start full blown revolts
MOBILIZATION: costs 4 wc like draft. It will increase all non-infantry production by 10%.
ICE EYE, you can only spend what is in your WC, not plus your WC per turn. I didnt do your deal with America or the V-2s to cover it.
I just saw a thing saying Germany built thousands of V-2s. So Im switch it to 10 V-2s per WC (I have fixed stockpiles accordingly)
.
Also, for the last time. Once you research something, it will automatically upgrade all your stuff, unless it is under Researched Units
EQ, where the hell is Herz?
